The role of optics in digital photography is in certain aspects quite different from that in conventional （silver-halide） photography. We first give an overview on the different classes of the digital still camera market. In order to judge the role of optics, one has to look on the different members of the transmission chain and their influence on image quality. These are mainly: （1） the optoelectronic image sensor with his modulation transfer function （MTF） and the particular situation of sensor cross-talk （aliasing）, which will be interpreted as spatial frequency depending additive noise. A quantitative measure for this will be given. （2） the optical low pass filter with his own MTF which is intended to minimize the cross-talk （aliasing）. （3） the optical system which has to be in a well balanced equilibrium concerning image quality with these components. Besides MTF-considerations the generation of colour has significant influence on image quality. Here the appearance of colour fringes is most disturbing and is due to different reasons. First of all the widely used （RGB） Bayer mosaic filter gives rise to colour aliasing because of the enlarged pixel pitch in the RGB-channels. Secondly the missing colour pixels in each channel must be interpolated from the corresponding neighbours who also introduce colour artefacts. Last but not least the optical system may contribute to colour fringes if the lateral chromatic aberrations are not corrected to a high degree

Sexual dimorphism and sex-differential migration of Little Buntings(Emberiza pusilla)at an East Asian stopover site

Sex differences in morphology provide key information for understanding a species'morphological adaptations in relation to the evolution of sexual *** migratory birds,morphological traits have adapted to long-distance travel,and sexual dimorphism is typically related to sex-differential migration *** Buntings(Emberiza pusilla)have one of the longest migrations and are the least dichromatic species among the Emberiza *** this study,we measured sexual size dimorphism and sexual dichromatism of Little Buntings in relation to the spring arrival dates at a stopover site in *** length was the most important predictor for identifying sex;the wings of males were longer than those of *** also had a significantly stronger chestnut color of the head feathers than females,but this color difference was more prominent in the spring than in the *** arrived earlier than females by four *** dates correlated with both size and color,but unlike other bunting species previously studied in the same area,there was no clear sex-differential trend in the relationship between arrival date and morphological *** differences in the degree of sexual dichromatism suggest that chestnut plumage coloration can be used as a social or sexual signal of males in the breeding *** correlation of size and color to early arrival regardless of sex may indicate that a preference for assortative mating exists or that a sex-differential migration strategy is not clearly defined in the early stages of northward *** findings on the sexual dimorphism of Little Buntings provide insight into the evolution of the sex-differential migration of buntings in the East Asian Flyway.

An animal's pelage,feather,or skin color can serve a variety of functions,so it is important to have multiple standardized methods for measuring *** of the most common and reliable methods for measuring animal coloration is the use of standardized digital photographs of *** tech no logy in the form of a commercially available handheld digital color sensor could provide an alter native to photography-based animal color *** determine whether a digital color sensor could be used to measure animal coloration,we tested the ability of a digital color sensor to measure coloration of mammalian,avian,and lepidopteran museums *** compared results from the sensor to measurements taken using traditional photography *** study yielded significant differences between photography-based and digital color sensor measurements of brightness(light to dark)and colors along the green to red *** was no difference between photographs and the digital color sensor measurements for colors along the blue to yellow *** average difference in recorded color(AE)by the 2 methods was above the threshold at which humans can perceive a *** were sign讦icant correlations between the sensor and photographs for all measurements indicating that the sensor is an effective animal coloration measuring ***,the sensor's small aperture and narrow light spectrum range designed for human-vision limit its value for ecological *** discuss the conditions in which a digital color sensor can be an effective tool for measuring animal coloration in both laboratory settings and in the field.

Foot ulcers are common complications of diabetes mellitus and substantially increase the morbidity and mortality due to this *** care by regular monitoring of the progress of healing with clinical review of the ulcers,dressing changes,appropriate antibiotic therapy for infection and proper offloading of the ulcer are the cornerstones of the management of foot *** the progress of foot ulcers can be a challenge for the clinician and patient due to logistic issues such as regular attendance in the *** clinics are often busy and because of manpower issues,ulcer reviews can be delayed with detrimental effects on the healing as a result of a lack of appropriate and timely changes in *** photographs have been historically useful to assess the progress of diabetic foot ulcers over the past few *** phones with digital cameras have recently revolutionized the capture of foot ulcer *** can send ulcer photographs to diabetes care professionals electronically for remote monitoring,largely avoiding the logistics of patient transport to clinics with a reduction on clinic *** intelligence-based technologies have been developed in recent years to improve this remote monitoring of diabetic foot ulcers with the use of mobile *** is expected to make a huge impact on diabetic foot ulcer care with further research and development of more accurate and scientific technologies in *** clinical update review aims to compile evidence on this hot topic to empower clinicians with the latest developments in the field.

Photo Socialization in digital Natives

In the following work of research, we shall present the results of a study on forms of digital photographic socialization as carried out by the so-called ＂digital natives＂ in order to explore their competence in managing digital photographic output and cultural practices. This shall be done under the following categories of analysis： snapshot, organization, socialization, reception, privacy, and copyrights in digital photography. The study explores the forms of digital photography production, technical problems of photographic management and the final uses that digital photographers give to their photos in terms of web tools 2.0, mobile telephones and social networks. digital photography technology, compact cameras, mobile phones with cameras, specialized websites in photography and the lnternet generate new forms of production and emerging styles of digital photographic socialization. The study is carried out using a defined sample of university students, those digital natives who create and use digital photography.
