Thermodynamic optimization of the binary rare earth alloy(Cee La, Cee Pr, Cee Nd and Lae Nd) systems was performed in this work through the CALPHAD method based on the critical evaluation of all available phase diagram and thermodynamic data reported in the literature. During the thermodynamic modeling, the solution phases including liquid, bcc, fcc and dhcp, were treated as the substitutional solution model. Thermodynamic parameters of the stable phases in the Cee La, Cee Pr, Cee Nd and Lae Nd binary systems are obtained finally and would be used directly to develop the thermodynamic database of the multi-component Nde Fee B-based alloys, which is indispensable for designing alloy compositions and processes of Nde Fee B permanent magnets with highly abundant rare earth metals.

We investigated the use of diagrams in multiplicative comparison word problems. The diagrams have been considered as one of the effective heuristic strategies or solving math problems. However, how students use during their school and the degree development that shows in their performance when applied to specific fields of knowledge is a task to be elucidated. We place our study in the school stage in which it makes the transition from arithmetic to algebra and arithmetic problems we focus on in the underlying multiplicative comparison scheme. In this paper, we analyzed the responses of high school students to the translation of multiplicative comparison word problems to representation graphs. We have used the responses of 12 -14 year old students （freshman year of secondary school） to represent multiplicative comparison word problems to identify and categorize the students responses, which allowed us identify categories for each type of representation and hypothesize priority order and subordination between the categories. Results show that students are not familiar with building diagrams that integrate existing relations in word problems. Most of the students do not use all the quantitative information contained in the word problem, therefore draw diagrams referring to the subject or context of the problem without relating to the data in it. We describe in detail the quantitative diagram types produced by these students. We have identified four kinds of quantitative diagrams that the students used to represent the multiplicative comparison problems with inconsistent statements, and these diagrams correspond to the four strategies for tackling the construction of the diagram.

Phase diagrams and magnetic properties of the mixed spin-1 and spin-3/2 Ising film with different single-ion anisotropies are investigated, by the use of Monte Carlo simulation based on heat bath algorithms. The effects of the crystal-fields and the surface coupling on the phase diagrams are investigated in detail and the obtained phase diagrams are presented. Depending on the Hamiltonian parameters, the system exhibits both second-and first-order phase transitions besides tricritical point, triple point, and isolated critical end point.

A method to predict intermodulation (IM) products of two tone test based on Amplitude to amplitude (AM-AM) and amplitude to phase (AM-PM) diagrams of power amplifier is proposed in this paper. An RF power amplifier is mathe-matically modeled by a power series in order of 13. Coefficients of the transfer function are obtained by odd-order polynomial fitting of the transfer function of the power amplifier that is modeled by power series, with AM-AM and AM-PM diagrams. Because of considering AM-PM distortion, coefficients have become complex. By using this transfer function, analytical expressions of IM products are derived. Frequency effect of IM products are modeled in suggested method to estimate the effects of changing in input frequency on output. With the mean of this factor the model is able to predict IM products of wideband frequency input. Simulated results agree well with the predicted method in comparisons.

Experimental and theoretical studies of the mechanisms of vibration stimulation of oil recovery in watered fields lead to the conclusion that resonance oscillations develop in fractured-block formations. These oscillations, caused by weak but long-lasting and frequency-stable influences, create the conditions for ultrasonic wave’s generation in the layers, which are capable of destroying thickened oil membranes in reservoir cracks. For fractured-porous reservoirs in the process of exploitation by the method of water high-pressure oil displacement, the possibility of intensifying ultrasonic vibrations can have an important technological significance. Even a very weak ultrasound can destroy, over a long period of time, the viscous oil membranes formed in the cracks between the blocks, which can be the reason for lowering the permeability of the layers and increasing the oil recovery. To describe these effects, it is necessary to consider the wave process in a hierarchically blocky environment and theoretically simulate the mechanism of the appearance of self-oscillations under the action of relaxation shear stresses. For the analysis of seism acoustic response in time on fixed intervals along the borehole an algorithm of phase diagrams of the state of many-phase medium is suggested.

Requirements analysis and design specification are serious issues in systems development because of the semantics involved in transformation of real world problems to computer software systems. Although unified modeling language (UML) is now accepted as a de facto standard for design and specification of object oriented systems but its structures have various disadvantages. For example, it lacks of defining semantics of the systems to be developed. Formal me-thods are proved powerful, particularly, at requirement specification and design level. To address and realize the bene-fits of UML and formal methods our project on “formalization of UML diagrams using Z notation” is under progress. This paper is continuation of the same project in which some important diagrams namely use case, class and sequence diagrams are selected for critical analysis. Merits and demerits of the diagrams are addressed after a brief introduction. Applications of the diagrams are observed reducing complexity and proposing a good design of a system. Finally, a treatment to link diagrams with appropriate approaches is suggested to enhance modeling power of UML for facilitating the systems development.

Based on the theory of physically real nets, the 8- point straight-line nets of bi-nary 6- phase (n + 4) multisystems (31 in toto) have been derived directly from the l-point straight-line nets. This result is in complete agreement with that derived fromthe theory of closed nets, indicating the incorrectness of the previous conclusion thatthere is only one 8-point straight-line net which corresponds to only one 8- pointstraight-line-net-diagram for binary 6- phase multisystems.
