Breast cancer is the most common malignant tumor that threatens women’s health. Breast magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a commonly used method recommended for the diagnosis of breast cancer. Diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI) are now widely used. At present, with the continuous advancement of magnetic resonance technology, Magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS), Perfusion weighted imaging (PWI), Positron emission tomography-magnetic resonance imaging (PET-MRI) and so on are gradually being used in clinical practice. Mammography imaging and imaging genomics are hot topics. This article will briefly introduce several functional magnetic resonance techniques and their latest applications.

Multiple Myeloma (MM) is a disseminated plasma cell tumor caused by the proliferation of a single plasma cell clone which results from the production of monoclonal immunoglobulin, most commonly class G (IgG). MM is a cancer of the elderly, with a mean age at diagnosis of 68 years. A 79-year-old white patient sought the outpatient clinic of the Discipline of Stomatology, S?o José dos Campos Dental School, UNESP, because of a fracture associated with an osteolytic lesion in the right ascending ramus of the mandible. In view of the clinical-radiographic findings, exploratory fine needle aspiration (FNA) of the lesion was performed and the sanguinolent material obtained was submitted to the preparations of smears for cytology analysis. The diagnosis of MM was based on laboratory and radiographic findings. FNA cytology analysis of the lesion permitted a diagnostic hypothesis of MM.

Objective:To characterise vertebral aspects of a lordotic chub(Squalius cephalus L.)using texture analysis by radiograph and to verify possible alterations in the vertebral microarchitecture of the lordotic tract.Methods:Four vertebrae belonging to the lordotic tract were analyzed for their texture features by means of a software package(MaZda vers.4.6)and were compared,for the same features,to other four vertebrae cranial(anterior)to the lordotic vertebrae.Results:Two representative features were selected out of 259 extracted texture features by means of the convex hull selection method.In particular,(5,5)sum of squares(according to co-occurrence matrix method)and 45°short run emphasis(according to run-length matrix method)were used to classify,without classification errors,two selected spinal tracts(the lordotic one and the immediately cranial one,both corresponding to the anal fin pterigiophores vertebral portion)according to the following methods:linear discriminant analysis and hierarchical clustering.Conclusions:This is the first known application of texture analysis in medical imaging applied to fish species and represents a start point for further studies in aquariology and in aquaculture,where spinal deformities occur relative frequently and are cause of economic losses.

Diferences and similarities of high-resolution computed tomography features between pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients

Background:Accurately diferentiating pneumocystis from cytomegalovirus pneumonia is crucial for correct therapy selection in AIDS patients.Hence,the goal of this study was to compare the computerized tomography(CT)features of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients and identify clinical hallmarks to accurately distinguish these two pathologies.Methods:A total of 112 AIDS patients(78 with pneumocystis pneumonia and 34 cytomegalovirus pneumonia)at Beijing Ditan Hospital from January 2017 to May 2019 were included in this study.Two experienced chest radiologists retrospectively reviewed CT images for 17 features including ground-glass opacity,consolidation,nodules,and halo sign.Binary logistic regression analyses were conducted to identify the signifcant parameters that distinguished pneumocystis pneumonia from cytomegalovirus pneumonia.Correlations were analyzed by Pearson or Spearman correlation analyses.Result were considered signifcant if P0.05)were common in both groups.Conclusions:Analysis of consolidation,nodules,and halo signs may contribute to the diferential diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia or cytomegalovirus pneumonia.However,some CT features considered typical in one or other diseases appear with similar frequency in both cohorts of AIDS patients.CT features are potentially useful for the diferential diagnosis of pneumocystis pneumonia and cytomegalovirus pneumonia in AIDS patients.
