Objective:The objective of this study is to investigate the effect of mild moxibustion on quality of life of patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Materials and Methods:Fifty‑five patients with type 2 DPN from October 2018 to July 2019 were recruited in the present study and randomly divided into two groups:27 cases in the control group and 28 cases in the intervention *** control group received routine treatment of hypoglycemic,hypotensive,mecobalamin nutritional nerve,while the intervention group received mild moxibustion on the basis of the control *** course of treatment for both groups was 10 *** quality of life of the two groups was assessed using short form‑36 health survey and compared with t‑test at 0.05 significance ***:The total score of the short form‑36 in the intervention group was higher than the control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Mild moxibustion can effectively improve the quality of life of patients with type 2 DPN,relieve patient pain symptoms,and improve PF and GH.

Efficacy and safety of Buyang Huanwu decoction(补阳还五汤)for diabetic peripheral neuropathy:a systematic review and Meta-analysis

Amplitude of sensory nerve action potential in early stage diabetic peripheral neuropathy:an analysis of 500 cases

Early diagnosis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy is important for the successful treatment of diabetes mellitus. In the present study, we recruited 500 diabetic patients from the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University in China from June 2008 to September 2013：221 cases showed symptoms of peripheral neuropathy （symptomatic group） and 279 cases had no symptoms of peripheral impairment （asymptomatic group）. One hundred healthy control subjects were also recruited. Nerve conduction studies revealed that distal motor latency was longer, sensory nerve conduction velocity was slower, and sensory nerve action potential and amplitude of compound muscle action potential were significantly lower in the median, ulnar, posterior tibial and common peroneal nerve in the diabetic groups compared with control subjects. Moreover, the alterations were more obvious in patients with symptoms of peripheral neuropathy. Of the 500 diabetic patients, neural conduction abnormalities were detected in 358 cases （71.6%）, among which impairment of the common peroneal nerve was most prominent. Sensory nerve abnormality was more obvious than motor nerve abnormality in the diabetic groups. The amplitude of sensory nerve action potential was the most sensitive measure of peripheral neuropathy. Our results reveal that varying degrees of nerve conduction changes are present in the early, asymptomatic stage of diabetic peripheral neuropathy.

Objective： To observe the deregulation of autophagy in diabetic peripheral neuropathy （DPN） and investigate whether Jinmaitong （筋脉通, JMT） alleviates DPN by inducing autophagy. Methods： DPN models were established by streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats and Schwann cells （SCs） cultured in high glucose medium. The pathological morphology was observed by the improved Bielschowsky＇s nerve fiber axonal staining and the Luxol fast blue-neutral red myelin staining. The ultrastructure was observed by the transmission electron microscopy. Beclinl level was detected by immunohistochemistry and Western blot. The proliferation of cultured SCs was detected by methylthiazolyldiphenyl-tetrazolium bromide. Results： diabetic peripheral nerve tissues demonstrated pathological morphology and reduced autophagic structure, accompanied with down-regulation of Beclinl. JMT apparently alleviated the pathological morphology change and increased the autophagy [in vivo, Beclinl integral optical density （IOD） value of the control group 86.6 ± 17.7, DM 43.9± 8.8, JMT 73.3 ± 17.8, P〈0.01 or P〈0.05, in vitro Beclinl IOD value of the glucose group 0.47 ± 0.25 vs the control group 0.88 ± 0.29, P〈0.05]. Consequently, inhibition of autophagy by 3-methyladenine resulted in a time- and concentration- dependent decrease of the proliferation of SCs （P〈0.05, P〈0.01）. Conclusions： Down-regulation of autophagy in SCs might contribute to the pathogenesis of DPN. JMT alleviates diabetic peripheral nerve injury at least in part by inducing autophagy.

Angiogenin gene polymorphism A risk factor for diabetic peripheral neuropathy in the northern Chinese Han population?

Angiogenin is associated with the pathogenesis of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. Here, we se- quenced the coding region of the angiogenin gene in genomic DNA from 207 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus （129 diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients and 78 diabetic non-neuropathy pa- tients） and 268 healthy controls. All subjects were from the Han population of northern China. No mutations were found. We then compared the genotype and allele frequencies of the angiogenin synonymous single nucleotide polymorphism rs11701 between the diabetic peripheral neuropathy patients and controls, and between the diabetic neuropathy and non-neuropathy patients, using a case-control design. We detected no statistically significant genetic associations. Angiogenin may not be associated with genetic susceptibility to diabetic peripheral neuropathy in the Han population of northern China.

Prostaglandin E_1 in conjunction with high doses of vitamin B_(12) improves nerve conduction velocity of patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy

BACKGROUND： Prostaglandin El improves diabetic peripheral neuropathy in symptoms and sensory threshold. Vitamin Bi and methyl-vitamin BI2 improve microcirculation to peripheral nerve tissue and promote neurotrophy. OBJECTIVE： To observe motor nerve and sensory nerve conduction velocity in patients with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, prior to and after treatment with prostaglandin El, vitamin B I and different doses of vitamin B 12. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： Randomized, controlled experiment, performed at the Department of Neurology, Beijing Hantian Central Hospital, between February 2002 and September 2007. PARTICIPANTS： A total of 122 patients with type 2 diabetic peripheral neuropathy; 73 males and 49 females were included. All patients met the diagnostic criteria of diabetes mellitus, as determined by the World Health Organization in 1999 and 2006, and also the diagnostic criteria of diabetic peripheral neuropathy. For each subject, conduction disorders in the median nerve and in the common peroneal nerve were observed using electromyogram. Also, after diet and drug treatment, the blood glucose level of subjects was observed to be at a satisfactory level for more than two weeks, and the symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy were not alleviated. METHODS： All patients were randomly divided into the following three groups. A control group （n = 40）, in which, 100 mg vitamin B1 and 500 μg vitamin BI2 were intramuscularly injected. A vitamin B12 low-dose treated group （ n = 42）, in which 10 μ g prostaglandin E1 in 250 mL physiological saline was intravenously injected once a day and 100 mg vitamin BI and 500 11 g vitamin BI2 was intramuscularly injected once a day. Lastly, a vitamin B12 high-dose treated group （n = 40）, in which administration was the same as in the vitamin B12 low-dose treated group, except that 500 11 g vitamin BI2 was replaced by 1mg vitamin B12. Electroacupuncture for treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy:A systematic review of randomized controlled trials

Objective:To assess the effectiveness and safety of electroacupuncture for the treatment of diabetic peripheral neuropathy(DPN).Clinical studies in China have shown the beneficial effect of electroacupuncture compared with conventional ***,the effectiveness of electroacupuncture has not been well acknowledged ***:We searched the following databases from their inception through February 2016:MEDLINE,the Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials(April,2015),SinoMed,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,VIP,Wanfang Database,Chinese Important Conference Papers Database,and the Chinese Dissertation *** controlled trials(RCTs)were included if they compared electroacupuncture to conventional medicine,placebo,or no treatment on DPN *** 5.3 software was used for data analysis,with effect estimate presented as relative risk(RR)and mean difference(MD)with a 95%confidence interval(CI).Results:Eleven RCTs involving 837 participants were *** methodological quality of included RCTs was generally poor in terms of sequence generation,allocation concealment,blinding,incomplete outcome data,and selective outcome ***-analysis showed that electroacupuncture had a better effect on global symptom improvement than methylcobalamin(RR Z 1.29;95%CI:1.14e1.46)and vitamin B(RR Z 1.60;95%CI:1.33e1.94).Only two RCTs reported adverse events.

The active mechanism of the Sheng Yang San Huo decoction on diabetic peripheral neuropathy on network pharmacology

The effect of foot bath of Chinese medicine combined with acupoint injection for diabetic peripheral neuropathy:a meta analysis
