In the paper, a hybrid gas–liquid dielectric barrier discharge(DBD) plasma system was set up to treat a methylene blue(MB) solution. The effects of the change of the carrier gas, the gas bubbling rate and different kinds of scavenger addition, including sodium carbonate(Na_2CO_3),para benzoquinone(p-BQ), triethylenediamine and sodium dihydrogen phosphate(NaH_2PO_4),on the MB decoloration were reviewed to clarify the critical active species for the dye decoloration in the DBD plasma system. The obtained results show that higher decoloration of the MB solution could be achieved when O2 was used as the carrier gas, which could be 100% after 20 min discharge treatment, and the result confirmed the crucial effect of O_3 in the MB decoloration. Based on the experiments of the scavenger addition, it could be concluded that O_2·^- and ~1O_2 were two other important reactive oxygen species(ROS) for the MB *** results of the higher chemical oxygen demand removal and faster disappearance of the characteristic peak of the MB from the UV–vis analysis under O_2 bubbling conditions also proved the critical effect of the ROS formed by O_2 on the MB decoloration.

In this paper we report the results of our experimental work conducted to decoloration of a well-known highly toxic Amaranth dye by electrochemical and photoelectrochemical methods. Throughout this investigation were used two different Dimensional Stable Anode (DSA) electrodes, namely, IrO2-Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti and Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti. The experimental results show that IrO2-Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode has higher performance on amaranth decoloration than Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode, but with the disadvantage of higher energy consumption. For higher degradation of Amaranth dye with both DSA electrodes, the process was carried out via photoelectrochemical method. Our experimental results clearly shown the decrease in absorbance of all UV-Vis peaks due to the mineralization of the azo dye;also, it was noteworthy photoelectrochemical process consumes less energy under the same experimental conditions than electrochemical process. The IrO2-Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode reaches a higher degradation degree of Amaranth solutions than Ru2O-SnO2-TiO2/Ti electrode using a photoelectrochemical technique.

The influence of decoloration of dye wastewater(methyl violet aqueous solustion)using local thermo-equilibrium plasma method was investigated with emitting spectrum and absorption *** results show,ultraviolet radiation and ozone are not vital contribution of *** efficiency with argon discharge is better than Oxygen discharge,efficiency with air discharge method is worse than *** decoloration efficiency is also influenced by electrode position and placed time.

A hybrid gas/liquid pulsed discharge plasma reactor using a porous ceramic tube is proposed for dye wastewater treatment. High voltage pulsed discharge plasma was generated in the gas phase and simultaneously the plasma channel was permeated through the tiny holes of the ceramic tube into the water phase accompanied by gas bubbles. The porous ceramic tube not only separated the gas phase and liquid phase but also offered an effective plasma spreading channel. The effects of the peak pulse voltage, additive gas varieties, gas bubbling rate, solution conductivity and TiO2 addition were investigated. The results showed that this reactor was effective for dye wastewater treatment. The decoloration efficiency of Acid Orange II was enhanced with an increase in the power supplied. Under the studied conditions, 97% of Acid Orange II in aqueous solution was effectively decolored with additive oxygen gas, which was 51% higher than that with argon gas, and the increasing 02 bubbling rate also benefited the decoloration of dye wastewater. Water conductivity had a small effect on the level of decoloration. Catalysis of TiO2 could be induced by the pulsed discharge plasma and addition of TiO2 aided the decoloration of Acid Orange II.

Different Ca-based layered double oxides（LDO） were applied in the removal of contaminants in used lubricating oil as an alternative decolorant. CaAl-LDO and CaFeAl-LDO achieved much greater decoloration efficiency than the traditional decolorants, where 0.93 and 0.91 of the decoloration efficiency under the optimum conditions were obtained, respectively. The decoloration activity with CaFeAl-LDO > CaAl-LDO >> CaFe-LDO was revealed by both Density Functional Theory（DFT） calculations and experimental analysis. Ca12Al14O33was shown to be the active component for decoloration. Fe3+doped into CaAl-LDO could improve decoloration activity via a changed charge distribution of decolorant. High preferential adsorption activity, which originated from different charge distribution for contaminants instead of the oil components, contributed to outstanding decoloration performance. The activity depended on the adsorption intensity of contaminants, where the most of the active decolorant neither too strongly or weakly bound with the contaminants. The results of this study suggested the Cabased LDOs could be a potentially alternative decolorants for regenerating the used lubricating oil.

Toluidine blue(TB)is an important anticoagulant metachromasia molecule showing a pronounced variation in the visible spectrum due to the aggregation phenomenon and electrostatic interaction with the charged synthetic and biologic *** current study describes the interactive role of diverse inorganic material ions on the bleaching of toluidine blue(tolonium chloride)(TB^(+))with urea in acidic and basic media using the spectrophotometric *** spectra of TB and urea with different cations and anions were monitored and their characteristic features are presented *** negative effect of added cations on reduction may be the result of altered electron pathways which led to suppression of the reduction/bleaching of TB,while a slight decrease in dye reduction by added anions may be due to the scavenging of the OH**** has been observed in the case of Co^(2+)that in addition to the electron-transfer reaction,other processes like layer and precipitate formation also appear to be taking *** dye bleaching process followed pseudo first order kinetics with respect to TB,urea,and H^(+)ion,whereas significant decoloration in the presence of urea proved that reductants control the redox *** decoloration in acidic medium with diverse ions was seen compared to alkaline media,showing that water pH played an important role in the bleaching of *** reduction/bleaching of dye was investigated at different temperatures,and energy parameters were evaluated for a TB^(+)-Urea reaction,including the energy of activation(Ea=39.60 kJ·mol^(–1)),enthalpy of activation(ΔH#=34 kJ$mol^(–1)),entropy of activation(ΔS#=146.5 kJ mol^(–1)·K^(–1)),and free energy of activation(ΔG*=–52.35 kJ·mol^(–1)).A mechanism of interaction of diverse ions in dye bleaching and a mechanism of reduction based on the above findings is proposed.

This article describes the potential of KMnO4 for oxidation of the thiazine dye(Toluidine blue TB)in an acidic *** effect of different operational parameters like initial concentration of dye,potassium permanganate,pH,ionic strength,catalyst,acids and temperature were investigated spectrophotometrically at λ_(max)=613 *** results showed a complete removal of the TB with mineralization of the dye *** and complete decoloration was observed in the presence of monobasic acid(HCl)as compared to the H_(2)SO_(4) where little color removal was *** was found to be an effective catalyst in oxidation for complete and fast decolorization with *** significant change at elevated temperatures showed that an intermediate complex degraded with slight change in the ***/visible spectrophotometry and GC mass analysis showed an intermediate activated complex demethylated sulophooxide of TB which later on degraded into smaller fragments.

The kinetics of the reaction of Fast Green dye(FG)with cetylpyridinum chloride was studied in alkaline medium by UV-Visible *** of Fast Green dye was carried out by varying the fast green dye concentration,cetylpyridinum chloride concentration and concentration of sodium *** the present study the reduction of dye was carried out in order to reduce the color *** interaction of dye was carried out with reducing analyte(cetylpyridinum chloride).The rate of the reaction was determined by varying the above parameters at different *** was observed that the reduction followed pseudo first-order kinetics with respect to dye,surfactant,OH–ion concentration according to the following reaction *** like entropy of activation(ΔS)and free energy of activation(ΔG)showed the extremely solvated states of transient complex which was less disorderly arranged than the oxidized form of dye,whereas Ea values reflects a high amount of energy required for the reduction of dye with cetylpyridinum chloride.

Porous silver-modified ZnO microrods photocatalysts were synthesized through direct thermal decomposition of the Ag-doped zinctartrate precursor,which was prepared by homogeneous precipitation method at 80 °C for 2 *** obtained samples were characterized by XRD,FTIR,TG？DTA and UV-VIS absorption *** photocatalytic activity of the as-prepared porous Ag/ZnO microrods was tested with the photocatalytic degradation of methyl *** results indicate that doping Ag greatly improves the photocatalytic efficiency of ZnO and 3% Ag-doped（mole fraction） ZnO porous microrod photocatalyst exhibits the highest photocatalytic decolorization efficiency,leading to as much as 80% reduction of MO concentration in 120 ***,the 3% Ag-doped porous microrods also possess higher photocatalytic activity under the real sunlight irradiation.
