Development of a database system for operational use in the selection of titanium alloys

The selection of titanium alloys has become a complex decision-making task due to the growing number of creation and utilization for titanium alloys,with each having its own characteristics,advantages,and limitations.In choosing the most appropriate titanium alloys,it is very essential to offer a reasonable and intelligent service for technical engineers.One possible solution of this problem is to develop a database system（DS） to help retrieve rational proposals from different databases and information sources and analyze them to provide useful and explicit information.For this purpose,a design strategy of the fuzzy set theory is proposed,and a distributed database system is developed.Through ranking of the candidate titanium alloys,the most suitable material is determined.It is found that the selection results are in good agreement with the practical situation.

Projects involving the construction of rock salt underground gas storage have several disadvantages,for example,effective management is not employed to manage the production information and data in the process of the project,resulting in duplication of data storage,waste of storage space,lower efficiency of data calling,and negative effects on the efficiency of data update.Therefore,a database and its management systems for a rock salt gas storage was constructed based on an SQL Server database system,primarily including the management forms of the geological modeling,storage simulation,stability evaluation,economic evaluation,and covering the addition and delete checks of static and dynamic data.The security of the system was improved by setting the administrator permission.The establishment of the database management system was of tremendous importance and it provided a significant technical support for the development of the gas storage project.

database system is a very important information infrastructure of modern society. The consistent sharing of data is the key to the realization of reliable application of database system in different fields of society. With respect to the problems of data inconsistency that are widely existed in database system applications, we focus on the entity-relation modeling, the origin of data generation, combine with practical application cases and propose active and effective prior precautions which are extracted from our many years of teachings and scientific researches. First, we use the objective uniqueness of recognizing entity and relation to overcome the subjective biases in data modeling fundamentally. Next, some empirical rules for optimizing the entity-relation model are employed to further rectify the inappropriateness in the model. The effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed principles of the entity-relation modeling optimization for database system are sufficiently approved by the demonstration of practical application cases.

This paper, guided by pragmatism education thought and combined with the characteristics of "database system" course, constructs a teaching model based on case teaching method. We put forward a more effective supporting system model, and uses rich teaching methods. It means to make the whole teaching link more perfect and reasonable. Practice shows that this teaching method not only improves students’ theoretical level and practical operation ability, but also greatly arouses students’ enthusiasm.
