This paper presents a three-phase STATic synchronous COMpensator（STATCOM） based on a current source *** of the typical three-phase current bridge inverter it is used a power converter topology with only a single-phase current bridge inverter.A dynamic model of the STATCOM in αβ coordinates is used as a basis for control *** control system uses a cascade structure where a fast ac current inner loop and a slow dc current control outer loop is *** the inner loop,is used a sliding mode technique to generate αβ space-vector *** fast and robust controller the ac currents of the STATCOM are actively shaped,being possible to maintain the desired currents even with high ripple DC inductor *** the outer loop,is used a PI *** simulations are presented allowing validating the proposed STATCOM and their control system.

Analysis of Symmetrical and Asymmetrical current source Multilevel inverter

The paper proposes a current source Multilevel inverter (CSMLI) with single rating inductor topology. Multilevel inverters are most familiar with power converter’s applications due to reduced dv/dt, di/dt stress, and very efficient for reducing harmonic distortion in the output voltage and output current. The proposed nine-level current source inverter has been tested under symmetrical and asymmetrical modes of operation, and their activities are compared using PI and Fuzzy PI (Proportional Integral) controllers with multicarrier PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) strategy. MATLAB/Simulink simulation has been made for the proposed converter to obtain its performance measures. Some experimental results are given to verify the presented current source Multilevel inverter.

current source inverter(CSI)is a class of power electronic converters that,thanks to the inherent boost capability and ease of control,is investigated for grid-tied photovoltaic power conversion *** CSI and CSI7 topologies are here analyzed and compared with two kind of space vector modulation strategies mainly in terms of ground leakage current both in simulations and ***,THD of the injected grid current and the computation of conduction and switching semiconductor power losses are also carried out in numerical *** topology comparison is carried out with the use of a different number of PV modules,to analyze the robustness of the topologies to different size of the PV *** and experimental results show that the CSI7 topology,with respect to conventional CSI,allows to strongly reduce ground leakage current,phase current THD and semicondutor power losses,at the price of an additional power device.

Partial Charging of Capacitors for Improving Voltage Profiles of CSI Fed Motor Drives

The fast switching behaviors of wide bandgap devices bring some challenges such as high du/dt and limited short-circuit current withstand capability to the reliable operation of the motor *** current-source-inverter(CSI)provides a promising solution in mitigating those challenges by owning the DC-link choke,the reverse-voltage blocking switches and AC commutation *** further reduce du/dt on switches of CSI fed motor drives,the technique of partial charging of capacitors have been investigated in this *** designing the series-connected and the parallel-connected partial-charging circuit for capacitors in DC-link,the voltage profile of CSI could be ***,the zero-voltage-switching(ZVS)is achieved for main power switches,the du/dt is reduced and the overvoltage protection is *** working mechanism of the technique of partial charging of capacitor is described and one example is discussed on the dual three-phase motor *** experimental verification is presented to show the performance of partial charging technique for improving voltage profile of CSI fed motor drives.

＜正＞ A new three phase active commutated thyristor current source inverter （CSI） topology is proposed for grid connected photovoltaic systems. Space vector PWM with a special switching sequence, which ensures proper commutation of thyristors, is implemented. In order to suppress the natural frequency of oscillations of LC filter and to ensure stability of the system, a charge controller in synchronous rotating reference frame is described. This allows easy design of PI controller gains. The simulation results of a 7-kVA inverter are presented.
