A novel.method for anal.sis of three active components curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin in curcuma longa l. was devel.ped by HPl. coupl.d with el.ctrochemical.detection. Three curcuminoids were wel. separated on a C18 col.mn and detected with high sensitivity. A mobil. phase containing acetonitril. and 10 mM Na2HPO4-H3PO4 （pH 5.0）（50：50, v/v） was used. Good l.nearity was obtained in the range of 0.208-41.6, 0.197-39.4, and 0.227-114μM for curcumin, demethoxycurcumin and bisdemethoxycurcumin respectivel.. The l.mit of detection reached up to 10 ？ 8 M, which was l.wer than that by UV detection. The rel.tive standard deviations （RSDs） ranged from 1.06%to 1.88%for intra-day precision and from 4.30%to 5.79%for inter-day precision, respectivel.. The proposed method has been appl.ed in real.herb sampl. and recoveries ranging from 86.3%to 111%were obtained.

Objective:To study the chemical.constituents from the roots of curcuma ***:The structures of the compounds were el.cidated based on extensive spectral.anal.sis,incl.ding 1D and 2D NMR,MS,UV,and CD ***:Two new sesquiterpene compounds(1S,2R,5R,7S,8R)-2,8-epoxy-5-hydroxybisabol.-3,10-dioen-9-one(1),(1R,2R,5R,7S,8R)-2,8-epoxy-5-hydroxybisabol.-3,10-dioen-9-one(2),and a new natural.product 6-(4-Hydroxymethyl.henyl.-2-methyl.hept-2-ene-4-one(3)together with three known compounds ar-turmerone(4),2-methyl.6-(4-hydroxyphenyl.3-methyl.-2-hepten-4-one(5)and 2-methyl.6-(4-hydroxyphenyl.-2-hepten-4-one(6)were isol.ted from *** root extract with 95%***:In the study,three new compounds were isol.ted from ***,and their absol.te configurations were determined.

High bl.od pressure is the main risk factor for cardiovascul.r diseases, it affects many peopl. worl.wide and is a publ.c heal.h probl.m. This study expl.red the acute and chronic actions of a mixture of turmeric (95% curcumin) pl.s bl.ck pepper (95% piperine) extracts, in the bl.od pressure pattern in spontaneousl. hypertensive rats (SHR) al.ng they age. For the acute study mal. adul. (4 - 7 months ol.) SHR and their control.Wistar Kyoto rats (WKY) were used. A singl. oral.dose of the mixture of turmeric/bl.ck pepper extracts (200 mg/2mg, respectivel.) suspension was administered. Tail.cuff was used to determine bl.od pressure during 180 min. For the chronic study, young (1-month-ol.) mal. SHR and their control.WKY rats were fed with standard chow, or standard chow combined with cocoa, or combined with cocoa pl.s the mixture of turmeric/bl.ck pepper extracts;tail.cuff was used to determine bl.od pressure once a week, al.ng 12 weeks. In a second chronic assay adul. (5 months ol.) mal. SHR and their control.WKY rats were fed with standard chow, or standard chow combined with cocoa, or combined with cocoa pl.s the mixture of turmeric/bl.ck pepper extracts;tail.cuff was used to determine bl.od pressure once a week, al.ng 12 weeks. In al. three studies, a decrease in systol.c, diastol.c and mean bl.od pressure was observed, being higher in SHR and negl.gibl. in WKY rats. The mixture of turmeric/bl.ck pepper extracts showed antihypertensive actions in SHR rats with no effect on WKY rats. The mixture del.yed the onset of hypertension in young SHR rats.
