Silicon(Si)with high theoretical capacity has attracted tremendous attention as the next-generation anode material for Li-ion batteries,but the huge expansion during cycling restricts its practical *** a low-cost,accessible robust network binder is a facile and effective approach to suppress the volume change effect and achieve the commercial application of Si *** previous studies focused on the network binder macromolecule main chain,this manuscript pays attention to the study of small-molecule ***,cross-linked network binders using alginate acid and two kinds of cross-linkers,i.e.,D-sorbitol and isosorbide(Alg-DS and Alg-IS binders)are *** was found that not only the chemical structure of the cross-linker but also the physicochemical property,such as melting point affect greatly the mechanical properties of the network *** a result,the Si anode with an Alg-DS binder dried below the melting point of DS shows the best cycling stability with a high capacity of 2249.8 mA·h/g and a retention rate as high as 95.9%after 100 *** study gives a new view to design robust network binders for stable Si anodes.

Synthesis and Properties of Polyurethane Elastomers Containing Sucrose as a cross-linker

Polyaddition using isocyanate and polyol forms polyurethane elastomer (PUE). However, this method has rarely been applied to the construction of PUEs containing sucrose. Hence, the introduction of sucrose (disaccharide) as a cross-linker via polyaddition remains a challenging subject in polymer chemistry. Here, we report the synthesis of PUEs using an aromatic isocyanate (4,4’-diphenylmethane diisocyanate), polyols including a polyether polyol (polytetramethylene glycol) and two polyester polyols (polycaprolactone and polycarbonate diols), and sucrose as a crosslinker by a one-shot method. The PUEs containing sucrose were successfully produced. The use of sucrose was essential to obtain the desired PUEs containing sucrose units in the main chain.

Polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)-based films containing Chinese bayberry tannin(BT)were prepared by cross-linking using glyoxal,glutaraldehyde and dialdehyde starch,*** presence of cross-linkers was evident to promote the transparency and decrease the moisture content of PVA/BT films,while the water solubility stayed almost unchanged in the cross-linked PVA/*** cross-linkers provided promotion of the water vapor per-meability,mechanical property and thermal stability of PVA/BT *** best water vapor barrier capacity was found in case of glutaraldehyde cross-linked PVA/BT film,while the highest tensile strength was encountered in case of glyoxal cross-linked PVA/BT films,compared with the uncross-linked *** scavenging action of the films towards DPPH radical activity was influenced by the nature of each ***,the PVA/AT film cross-linked by glutaraldehyde acquired the lowest radical scavenging activity in a certain time,suggesting that glutaraldehyde decreased the release rate of BT from *** on the experimental data,glutaraldehyde and dialdehyde starch could be more suitable for PVA/BT film preparation since they can promote the intermo-lecular interaction of PVA and BT to a reasonable extent.

Computational strategies have been employed to investigate the influence of the nature of monomers and cross-linker in order to design three dimensional imprinted polymers with selective recognition sites for L-phenylalanine benzyl ester(L-PABE)***,computational chemistry methods were applied to screen the molar quantity of functional monomers that interact with one mole of the template *** of the nature of functional monomer,cross-linker,and molar ratio were determined computationally using density functional calculations with B3LYP functional and generic 6-31G basis *** acid(MAA)and ethylene glycol dimethacrylate(EGDMA)were used as the functional monomer and crosslinking agent,respectively.L-PABE imprinted polymer layered on multiwalled carbon nanotube(MWCNT)and conventional bulk MIP were synthesised and characterized as *** investigate the influence of pre-organization of binding sites on the selectivity of L-PABE,respective non-imprinted polymers were also ***-MIPs and MIPs exhibited the highest adsorption capacity towards *** synthesized polymers revealed characteristic adsorption features and selectivity towards L-PABE in comparison with those of its enantiomer analogues.

Composite Solid Rocket Propellant Based on GAP Polyurethane Matrix with Different Binder Contents

Different GAP-based CSRP samples with different binder contents were prepared and compared with that of conventional HTPB *** crosslinker mixture of trimethylol propane(TMP)and butane diol(BD)was used in the GAP matrix beside the addition of dibutyltin dilaurate(DBTDL)to ensure cross-linking and curing completion of the prepared *** viscosity and hardness of all prepared formulations were monitored continuously during the curing *** mechanical characteristics of cured samples were *** burning rate at operating pressure and specific impulse were measured,while the theoretical specific impulse(I sp)was calculated by ICT code and compared with the measured *** to the results,DOA was found to be a suitable plasticizer for GAP when using in *** mechanical properties of CSRP with 25%GAP can produce the optimum mechanical behavior,which is close to that of HTPB-based *** optimum GAP-based formulation is one candidate to replace the traditional HTPB-based CSRP with high burning rate for some applications.

Preparation and Properties of Guiqi Polysaccharides/Chitosan/Alginate Composite Hydrogel Microspheres

A series of the Guiqi polysaccharides/chitosan/alginate composite hydrogel microspheres(GPcM)with different particle sizes were prepared with Guiqi polysaccharides(GP),chitosan(CS)and sodium alginate(Alg).The optimum preparation process was also determined by single factor and orthogonal experiment *** GPcM were characterized by fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),scanning electron microscope(SEM),drug loading efficiency test(LE),encapsulation efficiency test(EE)and in vitro release *** results showed that the Guiqi polysaccharides chitosan hydrogel(GPCH)and sodium alginate hydrogel(SAH)formed a crossover system in *** GPcM have a uniform particle size ranging from 395.1μm to 841.5μ*** drug loading efficiency and encapsulation efficiency of the GPcM were 56.3%and 72.6%,*** bovine serum albumin(BSA)loaded in the GPcM released slowly within 180 *** results suggested that the GPcM may have potential application value in drug sustained and controlled release system.

Photochromism of spiropyrans has first been investigated in 1952 by Hirshberg and *** on their photoswitching properties,research has been carried out with spiropyrans for applications as molecular logic elements,light-actuated nanovalves and manipulation of in vitro selection processes by *** already suggested an idea of using the photoswitching process as basis for photochemical erasable memory devices in his early *** than 30 years later,the use of spiropyrans has been demonstrated for bit-oriented three-dimensional optical data memory ***,two new alternative synthetic routes to modify biomolecules covalently with spiropyrans are reported:for the first route a spiropyran derivatives was synthesized as a photoswitchable cross-linkers for labeling biomolecular probes;the second route applies a postsynthetic click-type ligation ***,proteins and nucleic acids have been conjugated with spiropyrans in order to endow these biomolecules with the optical switch.

Chemical cross-linking provides an effective avenue to reduce the conformational entropy of polypeptide chains and hence has become a popular method to induce or force structural formation in peptides and ***,other types of molecular constraints,especially photoresponsive linkers and functional groups,have also found increased use in a wide variety of ***,we provide a concise review of using various forms of molecular strategies to constrain proteins,thereby stabilizing their native states,gaining insight into their folding mechanisms,and/or providing a handle to trigger a conformational process of interest with *** applications discussed here cover a wide range of topics,ranging from delineating the details of the protein folding energy landscape to controlling protein assembly and function.

Fast cross-linking by DOPA2 promotes the capturing of a stereospecific protein complex over nonspecific encounter complexes

Transient and weak protein–protein interactions are essential to many biochemical reactions, yet are technically challenging to study. Chemical cross-linking of proteins coupled with mass spectrometry analysis(CXMS) provides a powerful tool in the analysis of such interactions. Central to this technology are chemical cross-linkers. Here, using two transient heterodimeric complexes EIN/HPr and EIIAGlc/EIIBGlc as our model systems, we evaluated the effects of two amine-specific homo-bifunctional cross-linkers with different reactivities. We showed previously that DOPA2(di-ortho-phthalaldehyde with a di-ethylene glycol spacer arm) cross-links proteins 60–120 times faster than DSS(disuccinimidyl suberate). We found that though most of the intermolecular cross-links of either cross-linker are consistent with the encounter complexes(ECs), an ensemble of short-lived binding intermediates,more DOPA2 intermolecular cross-links could be assigned to the stereospecific complex(SC), the final lowest-energy conformational state for the two interacting proteins. Our finding suggests that faster cross-linking captures the SC more effectively and cross-linkers of different reactivities potentially probe protein–protein interaction dynamics across multiple timescales.
