Mobile news apps have emerged as a significant means for learning about latest news and trends. However, in light of numerous news apps and information overload, motivating users to adopt one app is a major concern for both the industry and academia. Therefore, considering the attributes of mobile news and the debate on switching costs in the Internet context, based on the expectation-confirmation model (ECM), this study suggests that switching costs still exist and have a significant moderating effect on user satisfaction and continuous usage of mobile news apps. Furthermore, the different influences of information quality, system quality and service quality on continuance intention, user satisfaction and switching costs are discussed, showing that quality of information has a significant impact on users’ continuous usage of mobile news apps through increasing perceived usefulness, whereas personalized service quality have stronger effects through increasing user satisfaction and switching costs.

Background:Soccer injuries constitute an important public health problem and cause a high economic ***,comprehensive data regarding injury costs in nonprofessional soccer are *** aim of this study was to determine which groups of nonprofessional soccer athletes,injury types,and injury situations caused high injury ***:A cross-sectional,retrospective telephone survey was carried out with a random sample of persons who had sustained a soccer injury between July 2013 and June 2014 and who had reported this accident to the Swiss National Accident Insurance Fund(Suva).One year after the corresponding accident,every injury was linked to its costs and to the answers obtained in the interview about injury setting,injury characteristics,and injury ***,the costs of 702 injuries were ***:The average cost of an injury in nonprofessional soccer amounted to€4030(bias-corrected and accelerated 95%confidence interval(BCa 95%CI):3427-4719).Persons aged 30 years and older experienced 35%of soccer injuries but accounted for 49%of all costs.A total of58%of all costs were the result of injuries that occurred during amateur *** particular,game injuries sustained by players in separate leagues for players aged 30+/40+years led to high average costs of€8190(BCa 95%CI:5036-11,645).Knee injuries accounted for 25%of all injuries and were responsible for 53%of all *** contact and foul play did not lead to above-average costs,twisting or turning situations were highly cost relevant,leading to an average sum of€7710(BCa 95%CI:5376-10,466)per ***:Nonprofessional soccer players aged 30 years and older and particularly players in 30+/40+leagues had above-average injury ***,the prevention of knee injuries,noncontact and nonfoul play injuries,and injuries caused by twisting and turning should be of highest priority in decreasing health care costs.

Effects of aggregating forests, establishing forest road networks, and mechanization on operational efficiency and costs in a mountainous region in Japan

We investigated forest road networks and forestry operations before and after mechanization on aggregated forestry operation sites. We developed equations to estimate densities of road networks with average slope angles, operational efficiency of bunching operations with road network density, and average forwarding distances with operation site areas. Subsequently, we analyzed the effects of aggregating forests, establishing forest road networks, and mechanization on operational efficiency and costs. Six ha proved to be an appropriate operation site area with minimum operation expenses. The operation site areas of the forest owners＇ cooperative in this region aggregated approximately 6 ha and the cooperative conducted forestry operations on aggregated sites. Therefore, 6 ha would be an appropriate operation site area in this region. Regarding road network density, higher-density road networks increased operational expenses due to the higher direct operational expenses of strip road establishment. Therefore, road network density should be reduced to approximately 200 m.

The human-food sector is one of the most challenging areas when it comes to greenhouse gas(GHG)*** this study,recipes from similar cookery books were analysed to identify the extent to which CO_(2) reduction can be achieved cost-effectively by cooking vegan,ovo-lactovegetarian or meat-containing recipes.A total of 311 recipes from six different German omnivorous,vegetarian and vegan cookery books were analysed in terms of GHG emissions and *** results illustrate that,based on calories,the vegan recipes on average lead to a 10% reduction in GHGs compared to vegetarian recipes and a 65% reduction compared to recipes high in *** costs for vegan recipes are 45% higher than those for vegetarian *** relatively high prices for vegan dishes result from the cost of meat and dairy replacement ***,GHG emissions from vegan recipes are only slightly lower than those from vegetarian recipes.

AIM To evaluate outcomes associated with use of a saline coupled bipolar sealer during open partial liver *** This retrospective analysis utilized the United States Premier? insurance claims database(2010-2014). Patients were selected with codes for liver malignancy and partial hepatectomy or lobectomy. Cases were defined by use the saline-coupled bipolar sealer; controls had no use. A Propensity Score algorithm was used to match one case to five controls. A deviationbased cost modeling(DBCM) approach provided an estimate of *** One hundred and forty-four cases and 720 controls were available for analysis. Patients in the case cohort received fewer transfusions vs controls(18.1% vs 29.4%, P = 0.007). In DBCM, more patients in the case cohort experienced "on-course" hospitalizations(53.5% vs 41.9%, P = 0.009). The cost calculation showed an average savings in total hospitalization costs of $1027 for cases vs controls. In multivariate analysis, cases had lower odds of receiving a transfusion(OR = 0.44, 95%CI: 0.27-0.71, P = 0.0008).CONCLUSION Use of a saline-coupled bipolar sealer was associated with a greater proportion of patients with an "on course" hospitalization.

Evolution of costs of cancer drugs in a Portuguese hospital

AIM:To analyze the costs of cancer drugs administered in a Portuguese Hospital compared with the Karolinska Institute ***:To evaluate spending on cancer drugs, we retrospectively analyzed data on the overall costs of cancer drugs, obtained at the Department of Medical Oncology of the Centro Hospitalar de Entre Douro e Vouga, between 2004 and 2010. In this comparative study we selected only drugs belonging to the following groups:chemotherapy, targeted therapy, immunotherapy and endocrine therapy. The selected drugs were further grouped according to their market placement year:≤ 1998, 1999 to 2002, 2003 to 2005, and 2006 to 2010. Drugs used as supportive therapy and bisphosphonates were ***:The overall costs of cancer drugs increased gradually between 2004 and 2008(from €1911947 to €3666284), with an increase in the number of patients treated during this period. The expenditure decreased in 2009(€3438155) and increased again in 2010(€3673116), but the costs increment was not the same as in previous years. Chemotherapy and targeted therapy were responsible for most of the expenditure. Drugs placed on the national market before 1999 accounted for more than 50% of the expenditure up to 2007. From 2008, these drugs represented less than 50% of the total expenditure. Cancer drugs placed between 1999 and 2002 accounted for 25%-35% of the costs in all the years studied, while drugs placed between 2003 and 2005 accounted for less than 30%. Drugs placed between 2006 and 2010 were responsible for less than 10% of the ***:In this study, older drugs were responsible for most of the expenditure up to 2007, which is in agreement with the Karolinska study.

The comparison between nonprofit and for-profit organizations has been a lingering question for scholars and *** research explores employee wage differentials across sectors using a national sample of child care *** controlling for a range of individual,occupational,organizational,and community factors,this research reports a significant wage premium for nonprofit child care *** addition,this study finds evidence for both the labor donation and property rights hypotheses,but the property rights theory demonstrates comparatively stronger explanatory *** individuals with stronger intrinsic motivation are more willing to donate labor for charitable outputs,inefficient management in nonprofits actually sets wage levels over the market ***,the study highlights nonprofits*comparative advantage in employee motivation but disadvantage in efficient *** findings have implications for public and nonprofit management.
