Preparation of sinter with low reduction degradation index for corex reduction in a high proportion

The sinter with low reduction degradation index(RDI)for corex reduction was prepared by separated granulation sintering process.The results illustrate that the productivity and tumble index are attained to be 1.64 t m^(-2)h^(-1)and 59.25%,respectively,in pot tests under the optimal conditions.Under the reducing condition simulating corex shaft furnace,RDI_(+6.3 mm),RDI_(+3.15 mm),and reducibility index of the sinter reach 63.05%,81.52%,and 83.65%,respectively.Compared with traditional sintering process,the productivity rose by 14.69%,and RDI_(+6.3) mm and RDI_(+3.15) mm were increased by 157.54%and 32.70%,respectively.In addition,as the proportion of sinter reached 60%,RDI_(+6.3 mm)and RDI_(+3.15 mm)of comprehensive burden were achieved to be 73.39%and 84.28%,respectively,which could completely meet the requirement of corex shaft furnace for RDI.The mechanism was demonstrated that the more silicoferrites of calcium and aluminum and silicate phase occurred as well as magnetite,and the amount of Fe_(2)O_(3)decreased substantially in the sinter by separated granulation sintering process.Hence,the low-temperature reducing stress is restrained,with the increase in sinter strength.

A three-dimensional semicircle cold model of corex melter gasifier(MG)was established,and the effects of coke charging pattern on burden movement were investigated by adopting this model.The burden flow pattern of packed bed was measured with different coke charging amounts,coke charging positions,and coke sizes.The results show that the solid flow pattern presents a change from straight line type to reverse U type and finally to W type in MG with traditional coke charging,while the burden flow pattern experiences the change from straight line type to W type with platform and finally W type under center coke charging,and the solid flow pattern presents a change from straight line type to W type with platform and finally W type under intermediate coke charging.The difference demonstrates that coke charging pattern affects the uniform descending in MG to some degree.The burden in the coke charging zone keeps a straight line descending.No matter what kind of coke charging pattern is adopted,the burden residence time is shortened with the increase in coke charging amount,and the vertex of deadman decreases obviously,which is conducive to the renewal of the deadman.The appropriate coke charging amount and coke size should be well controlled at 8.7%and 5 mm,respectively.The results are useful not only in developing further understanding of solid flow in MG but also in verifying different mathematical models,particularly the coupled discrete element method with computational fluid dynamics simulation which has been increasingly used in the literature.

Solid descending and residence properties in corex shaft furnace with a center gas supply device (CGSD) were studied using the discrete element method. Solid flow pattern, residence time distribution, and local solid residence time (SRT) were analyzed. Moreover, the effects of the rotation speed of screws, the radius, and height of CGSD were investigated. The results show that the solid flow is dominantly a plug flow in the shaft furnace with the CGSD. In the upper region of the shaft furnace for gas-solid reduction, uniform distribution of local SRT is observed, which is preferable to match the even gas distribution expected due to the CGSD and slots. For different rotation speeds of the screws, the distribution of solid flow patterns is similar. The averaged residence time, dispersed plug volume fraction, and dead volume fraction decrease with increasing the rotation speed of the screws. The radius of the CGSD affects the solid residence in the shaft furnace. Local SRT above the CGSD increases with the increase in the radius of CGSD, possibly leading to the formation of more agglomerates. Hence, the radius of CGSD should be chosen carefully. The height of CGSD has a minor effect on solid residence in the shaft furnace.

A three-dimensional steady-state mathematical model, considering the chemical reactions and transfers of momentum, heat and mass between the gas and solid phases, was developed to investigate the characteristics of the shaft furnace with the central gas distribution (CGD) device. The model was verified by the practical production data of a corex-3000 shaft furnace, and then, it was used to study the inner characteristics of the shaft furnace with CGD. The results show that, compared with the corex shaft furnace without CGD, the gas utilization rate (UR) and solid metallization rate (MR) increase from 33.66% to 34.18% and 60.4% to 61.8%, respectively. Especially, the standard deviation of solid MR decreases from 6.9% to 0.8%, which means that the MR of direct reduced iron from the furnace with CGD is more uniform than that without CGD. Additionally, the effects of operational conditions and CGD design on gas UR, solid MR and direct reduced iron uniformity were further discussed and the optimized conditions were suggested.

Dissolution kinetics of solid fuels used in corex gasifier and its influence factors

Carbon dissolution from solid fuels used in a corex gasifier was investigated in a high-temperature furnace to investigate the influences of temperature, carbon structure and ash properties of solid fuels into molten iron on carbon dissolution behavior. The results showed that the final carbon content of molten iron and dissolution reaction rate of carbon increased as the temperature increased. However, the dissolution behavior of different solid fuels varied with their properties. At the same temperature, the dissolution reaction rate of solid fuel from high to low was coke, semi-coke and lump coal. The apparent reaction rate constants of solid fuel were calculated using the piecewise fitting method based on the experimental data. The analyzed results showed that the dissolution rates of solid fuels had a good correlation with their microcrystalline structures. Moreover, the carbon crystallite structures of solid fuels used in corex had greater influence on dissolution behavior than their ash properties.

corex is an alternative ironmaking process and raceway is one of the important areas to maintain the stability of the furnace. The raceway parameters are well established for blast furnace operation. But for corex process,it has not yet been established and optimized. Thus,a mathematical model was developed to determine various raceway parameters such as RAFT （raceway adiabatic flame temperature）,tuyere gas velocity and kinetic energy. The model provides an idea about the raceway geometry,zone temperature and kinetic energy accumulated in tuyere gas. Besides,all the raceway parameters have been analyzed to find out their effects on the corex process. It is found that RAFT influences the gasification reaction kinetics and higher RAFT generates more CO in reduction gas,which improves the metallisation degree of the DRI in shaft. It is also found that increased gas velocity and kinetic energy generate more fines and demand more coke to maintain char bed permeability. High coke rate increases the production cost and lowers the production of hot metal.

通过观察corex块煤在成焦过程中所形成的不同煤焦的微观结构及形貌,分析了corex所用两种煤成焦结构及性能的特点.借鉴高炉焦炭反应性及反应后强度的定义,提出以MCRI和MCSR来表示煤焦的反应性及反应后强度,并给出其物理意义.MCRI与MCSR主要是由煤焦显微结构的组成决定的.针对corex所用的两种煤,对1 100℃下不同成焦时间的煤焦反应性及反应后强度与微观结构进行多元线性回归,建立了预测corex用煤成焦时煤焦热态性能的公式.由此推算了两种煤在600,800及1 000℃条件下不同成焦时间的煤焦反应性及反应后强度,与实测值比较吻合.

建立corex熔化气化炉的半周三维冷态模型,利用高速摄影的方法跟踪冷态模型内示踪粒子的运动,得到冷模型观察面板处风口回旋区的颗粒运动信息,通过对大量颗粒运动信息的处理得到风口回旋区范围的颗粒速度标量场,运用分形理论对利用不同颗粒速度大小等值线界定的回旋区边界的"不规则"程度进行了研究,准确界定了风口回旋区边界.研究结果为风口回旋区的宏观动力学计算以及数值模拟提供准确的边界条件.
