CONIC TRUST REGION METHOD FOR LINEARLY constrained optimization

In this paper we present a trust region method of conic model for linearly constrained optimization.problems. We discuss trust region approaches with conic model subproblems. Some equivalent variation properties and optimality conditions are given. A trust region algorithm based on conic model is constructed. Global convergence of the method is established.

An Efficient Real Space Method for Orbital-Free Density-Functional Theory

We consider the Thomas-Fermi-von Weizsacker energy functional,with the Wang-Teter correction,and present an efficient real space method for Orbital-Free Density Functional *** is proved that the energy minimizer satisfies a second order quasilinear elliptic equation,even at the points where the electron density *** information is used to construct an efficient energy minimization method for the resulting constrained problem,based on the truncated Newton method for unconstrained *** Wang-Teter kernel is analyzed,and its behavior in real space at short and far distances is determined.A second order accurate discretization of the energy is obtained using finite *** efficiency and accuracy of the method is illustrated with numerical simulations in an Aluminium FCC lattice.

The maximum principle is a basic qualitative property of the solution of second-order elliptic boundary value *** preservation of the qualitative characteristics,such as the maximum principle,in discrete model is one of the key *** is well known that standard linear finite element solution does not satisfy maximum principle on general triangular meshes in *** this paper we consider how to enforce discrete maximum principle for linear finite element solutions for the linear second-order self-adjoint elliptic *** approach is based on repair technique,which is a posteriori correction of the discrete *** method is based on constrained *** tests that include anisotropic cases demonstrate how our method works for problems for which the standard finite element methods produce numerical solutions that violate the discrete maximum principle.

Transmission Line Sequence Impedances Identification Using PMU Measurements

An online TL （transmission line） impedance TPIS （transmission line parameter identification system） using PMU （phasor measurement unit） was recently developed and implemented at CSG （china southern power grid company）, Traditional approaches for TL impedance calculation only approximate the effect of conductor sags and ignore the dependence of impedances on temperature variation. Utilizing PMU measurements may improve the accuracy of TL parameters calculation. The challenge is that the parameters identified are very sensitive to noise and errors in PMU measurements, which are difficult to quantify and can be uncertain under different system operating/loading condition, TPIS provides an innovative yet practical problem formulation for TL sequence parameter estimation based on least-squares with linear constraints. A bootstrapping-based resampling technique is developed and a new metric is proposed to determine the credibility of the estimated sequence impedances. This paper discusses the proposed methodologies, challenges, as well as implementation issues identified during the development of TPIS.
