The normalized weighted capacity reliability index of a sub-domain interconnection large scale communication network is defined and a new algorithm to calculate the reliability index is proposed, The proposed algorithm can be performed using logical or algebraic operation by means of computer-aided programming and the correctness of each key step is validated in detail. This paper takes the sub-domain interconnection symmetrical topologi- cal network for a typical example to calculate the network reliability index and verifies the correctness of the proposed algorithm us- ing the real measured statistical data. The real measured results are well in accordance with the results obtained by the proposed algorithm. The result shows that the proposed algorithm is a valid means to estimate the reliability index of a sub-domain intercon- nection large-scale communication network.

The conception of the normalized reliability index weighted by capacity is introduced, which combing the communication capacity, the reliability probability of exchange nodes and the reliability probability of the transmission links, in order to estimate the reliability performance of communication network comprehensively and objectively. To realize the full algebraic calculation, the key problem should be resolved, which is to find an algorithm to calculate all the routes between nodes of a network. A kind of logic algebraic algorithm of network routes is studied and based on this algorithm, the full algebraic algorithm of normalized reliability index weighted by capacity is studied. For this algorithm, it is easy to design program and the calculation of reliability index is finished, which is the foundation of the comprehensive and objective estimation of communication networks. The calculation procedure of the algorithm is introduced through typical examples and the results verify the algorithm.

According to the characteristics of remote welding, including multiple parameters, real-time, and reliability of long wire transmitting, a distributing computer control scheme is adopted. A serial communication network between the master and the slavery computers is constructed. A synchro-control network among slavery computers is designed. Uniform message format and communication protocols are made. Considering intensive high-frequency noises at the welding zone, a quadruple check mode, including data sum check, parameter type check, welding parameters check and Exclusive OR （ XOR ） check, is adopted to assure the reliability of communication among multiple computers. Based on disturbing circuit, common circuit and sensitive circuit, the measures are brought forward to ensure the stabilization of communication network of remote arc welding by analyzing the wiring principle of anti-high-frequency interference of system bus, signal wires and shielding twisted-pair（STP） wires. The results provide the theoretical and practical references for the manufacture of remote welding robot and the quality of remote welding.

They can be independently defined and can be used separately and when the reliability of a communication network is analyzed from a macroscopical angle of view it is more objective to express the performance index of a communication network as a whole. The reliability index weighted capacity is just obtained by integrating these two parameters. It is necessary to further study the algorithm to calculate the reliability index of the communication network with a complicated topologic structure and a whole algebraic algorithm is therefore proposed for calculation of the reliability index weighted capacity of a communication network with a topologic structure. The whole computational procedure of the algorithm is illustrated with a typical example.

In communication networks with policy-based Transport Control on-Demand (TCoD) function,the transport control policies play a great impact on the network effectiveness. To evaluate and optimize the transport policies in communication network,a policy-based TCoD network model is given and a comprehensive evaluation index system of the network effectiveness is put forward from both network application and handling mechanism perspectives. A TCoD network prototype system based on Asynchronous Transfer Mode/Multi-Protocol Label Switching (ATM/MPLS) is introduced and some experiments are performed on it. The prototype system is evaluated and analyzed with the comprehensive evaluation index system. The results show that the index system can be used to judge whether the communication network can meet the application requirements or not,and can provide references for the optimization of the transport policies so as to improve the communication network effectiveness.

We propose a novel approach called adaptive fuzzy ant-based routing (AFAR), where a group of intelligent agents (or ants) builds paths between a pair of nodes, exploring the network concurrently and exchanging obtained information to up-date the routing tables. Routing decisions can be made by the fuzzy logic technique based on local information about the current network state and the knowledge constructed by a previous set of behaviors of other agents. The fuzzy logic technique allows multiple constraints such as path delay and path utilization to be considered in a simple and intuitive way. Simulation tests show that AFAR outperforms OSPF, AntNet and ASR, three of the currently most important state-of-the-art algorithms, in terms of end-to-end delay, packet delivery, and packet drop ratio. AFAR is a promising alternative for routing of data in next generation networks.
