Fuel poverty is most prevalent in North East England with 14.4%of fuel poor households in Newcastle upon *** aim of this paper was to identify a grid connected renewable energy system coupled with natural gas reciprocating combined heat and power unit,that is cost-effective and technically feasible with a potential to generate a profit from selling energy excess to the grid to help alleviate fuel *** system was also aimed at low carbon *** models were designed and optimized with the aid of the HOMER Pro *** were compared with respect to their economic,technical,and environmental performance.A solution was proposed where restrictions were placed on the size of renewable energy *** configuration consists of 150 kW CHP,300 kW PV cells,and 30 kW wind *** renewable fraction is 5.10%and the system yields a carbon saving of 7.9%in comparison with conventional *** initial capital investment is$1.24 million which enables the system to have grid sales of 582689 kWh/a.A conservative calculation determined that 40%of the sales can be used to reduce the energy cost of fuel poor households by$706 per *** solution has the potential to eliminate fuel poverty at the site analyzed.

Due to the short distance between the sources of production and consumption,microgrids(MGs)have received considerable attention because these systems involve fewer losses and waste less *** another advantage of MGs is that renewable energy sources can be widely used because these resources are not fully available and can provide a part of the required *** purpose of this research is to model the MG considering the production sources of microturbines,gas turbines and internal combustion *** energies such as wind turbines(WTs)and photovoltaic(PV)cells have been used to provide part of the required power and,because of the lack of access to renewable energy sources at all times,energy reserves such as batteries and fuel cells(FCs)have been *** power of the microturbine,gas turbine,internal combustion engine,FC and battery in this system is 162,150,90,100 and 225 kW,*** modelling the studied system,optimization was done using the imperialist competitive algorithm to minimize production costs and provide maximum thermal and electrical *** maximum production power for PVs is equal to 0.6860 MWh and at this time this value for WTs is equal to 0.3812 MWh,in which case the excess electricity produced will be sold to the grid.

A new hybridized algorithm is developed to solve the combined heat and power economic dispatch（CHPED） *** to the non-convexity of the CHPED problem, the global optimum is difficult to achieve. The presented approach combines the algorithms of harmony search（HS） and Nelder-Mead（NM）, and the hybridized algorithm is called the NM-HS algorithm. The hybridized NM-HS algorithm improves the efficiency of the two original algorithms, and also the robustness. Two benchmark examples demonstrate the good performance of the NM-HS algorithm. The solutions obtained is better than, or at least is the same as, other methods.

To improve the overall thermal efficiency of the organic Rankine cycle（ ORC）, a simulation study was carried out for a combined heat and power（ CHP） system, using the Redlich-Kuang-Soave（ RKS） equation of state. In the system,R245 fa was selected as the working fluid. A scroll expander was modeled with empirical isentropic expansion *** heat exchangers were selected as the evaporator and the condenser, and detailed heat transfer models were programmed for both one-phase and two-phase regions. Simulations were carried out at seven different heat source temperatures（ 80,90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140 ℃） in combination with eight different heat sink temperatures（ 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50,55 ℃）. Results showthat in the ORC without an internal heat exchanger（ IHE）, the optimum cycle efficiencies are in the range of 7. 0% to 7. 3% when the temperature differences between the heat source and heat sink are in the range of 70 to90 ℃. Simulations on CHP reveal that domestic hot water can be produced when the heat sink inlet temperature is higher than40 ℃, and the corresponding exergy efficiency and overall thermal efficiency are 29% to 56% and 87% to 90% higher than those in the non-CHP ORC, respectively. It is found that the IHE has little effect on the improvement of work output and efficiencies for the CHP ORC.

This paper presents the solution to the combined heat and power economic dispatch problem using a direct solution algorithm for constrained optimization problems. With the potential of combined heat and power (CHP) production to increase the efficiency of power and heat generation simultaneously having been researched and established, the increasing penetration of CHP systems, and determination of economic dispatch of power and heat assumes higher relevance. The combined heat and power Economic Dispatch (CHPED) problem is a demanding optimization problem as both constraints and objective functions can be non-linear and non-convex. This paper presents an explicit formula developed for computing the system-wide incremental costs corresponding with optimal dispatch. The circumvention of the use of iterative search schemes for this crucial step is the innovation inherent in the proposed dispatch procedure. The feasible operating region of the CHP unit three is taken into account in the proposed CHPED problem model, whereas the optimal dispatch of power/heat outputs of CHP unit is determined using the direct Lagrange multiplier solution algorithm. The proposed algorithm is applied to a test system with four units and results are provided.

District energy systems(DESs)have become a popular form of satisfying comprehensive energy demands for different types of loads in multiple local *** DFISs,the operational flexibility could be maintained by energy conversion and storage *** paper proposes a hierarchical optimization framework for leveraging and aggregating the DES flexibility to provide contingency *** characterize and quantify the flexibility in individual DESs,the concept of available reserve profile,which is measured by a set of indices,is established.A two-stage robust optimization(RO)model is developed for calculating the indices,which considers the uncertainties associated with wind power and ambient *** lower stage of the two-stage model is managed by district energy system operators(DESOs)which submit reserve profiles to the district energy system coordinator(DESC)at the upper stage,which is responsible for the coordination ***,information privacy is preserved using a coordinated data-sharing *** reserve profiles submitted by multiple DESOs,the DESC applies the proposed coordination model to provide a certain reserve capacity schedule to DESs,which satisfies the stated *** coordination model is formulated and solved based on the special ordered set(SOS)technique and particle swarm optimization(PSO)algorithm.A test system is developed to illustrate the technical viability and economic feasibility of the proposed technique.

Multi-energy Management of Interconnected Multi-microgrid System Using Multi-agent Deep Reinforcement Learning

The multi-directional flow of energy in a multi-microgrid(MMG) system and different dispatching needs of multiple energy sources in time and location hinder the optimal operation coordination between microgrids. We propose an approach to centrally train all the agents to achieve coordinated control through an individual attention mechanism with a deep dense neural network for reinforcement learning. The attention mechanism and novel deep dense neural network allow each agent to attend to the specific information that is most relevant to its reward. When training is complete, the proposed approach can construct decisions to manage multiple energy sources within the MMG system in a fully decentralized manner. Using only local information, the proposed approach can coordinate multiple internal energy allocations within individual microgrids and external multilateral multi-energy interactions among interconnected microgrids to enhance the operational economy and voltage stability. Comparative results demonstrate that the cost achieved by the proposed approach is at most 71.1% lower than that obtained by other multi-agent deep reinforcement learning approaches.

Energy conservation in heating systems has great influence on overall sustainable development strategy. heating technology, especially combined heat and power(CHP, cogeneration), has been attracting increased interest and rapidly developing in recent years. However, the theoretical potential of heating from the perspective of thermodynamics has not been clearly illustrated. This paper presents a theoretical analysis of heating systems based on the 1st and 2nd laws of thermodynamics using the specific fuel consumption(SFC) analysis method, clarifies the theoretical potential limitation of heating systems and illustrates the process of reversible heating on the basis of the total energy system. A novel concept(green heating, GH) and a new indicator(green-heating index, GH Index) are scientifically defined to characterise different options for heating and to quantitatively evaluate their fuel consumption levels. Thereafter, the fuel consumptions of four typical space heating modes are compared and discussed to present the application of GH theory and validate the power of the proposed concept and index. Furthermore, two different CHP technologies are analyzed with an instantiation case, and a novel CHP system is recommended, which may scientifically support the development of heating technology and further improve the processes of energy-saving and CO2 reduction.

As a type of energy system with bright application prospects,the integrated energy system(IES)is environmentally friendly and can improve overall energy *** coupling between heat and electricity outputs of combined heat and power(CHP)units limits IES operational flexibility *** resolve this problem,in this paper,we integrate operating mode optimization of the natural gas combined cycle CHP unit(NGCC-CHP)into dispatch of the IES to improve flexibility of the ***,we analyze operational modes of the CHP units from the perspectives of thermal processes and physical mechanisms,including the adjustable extraction mode,backpressure mode,and switching ***,we propose an explicit mathematical model for full-mode operation of the CHP units,in which the heat-electricity feasible region,switching constraints,and switching costs are all formulated in ***,a novel economic dispatch model is proposed for a heat and electricity IES,which uses the full-mode operation of CHP units to improve operational *** Fortuny-Amat transformation is used to convert the economic dispatch model into a mixed-integer quadratic programming model,which can then be solved using commercial *** studies demonstrate the proposed method can reduce operational costs and obviously promotes wind power utilization.

Prediction of the Behavior of a power System Using Root Cause Failure Analysis

The thermo-economic performance of a gas turbine is simulated using a fish bone technique to characterize the major equipment failure *** a fault tree analysis and a Pareto technique are implemented to identify the related failure modes,and the percentage and frequency of failures,respectively.A pump 101 and drier 301 belonging to the Tabriz Petrochemical Company are considered for such analysis,which is complemented with a regression method to determine a behavioral model of this equipment over a twenty-year *** findings indicate that 81%of major failure factors in production equipment are related to the executive procedures(24%),human error(22%),poor quality of materials and parts(20%),and lack of personnel training(15%).
