This paper presents a novel approach to improve aliasing rejection in comb-based decimation filters. The method is established on certain palindromic polynomials with all zeros on the unit circle and the sharpening technique. As a result, aliasing rejection and the passband characteristic are improved. The method is illustrated with various examples and compared with the methods from the literature. .

This paper presents a simple method for the design of comb-based decimation filter with a high aliasing rejection and low passband droop. The method is based on the application of the mathematical result on zeros of symmetric polynomials on the unit circle. The application of this result leads to the introduction of the four additional single zeros into comb folding bands, where aliasing occur. As a result, the folding bands become wider and the aliasing rejection is increased. The passband droop is compensated by a simple compensator who works at low rate. The comparisons with the most recent methods from literature confirmed the advantages of this proposal regarding magnitude responses and the required complexity.

Elegant and Practical Method of Fir Decimation Using comb filters in the Field of Digital Signal Processing

This paper deals with the technology of using comb filters for FIR Decimation in Digital Signal Processing. The process of decreasing the sampling frequency of a sampled signal is called decimation. In the usage of decimating filters, only a portion of the out-of-pass band frequencies turns into the pass band, in systems wherein different parts operate at different sample rates. A filter design, tuned to the aliasing frequencies all of which can otherwise steal into the pass band, not only provides multiple stop bands but also exhibits computational efficiency and performance superiority over the single stop band design. These filters are referred to as multiband designs in the family of FIR filters. The other two special versions of FIR filter designs are Halfband and comb filter designs, both of which are particularly useful for reducing the computational requirements in multirate designs. The proposed method of using comb FIR decimation procedure is not only efficient but also opens up a new vista of simplicity and elegancy to compute Multiplications per Second (MPS) and Additions per Second (APS) for the desired filter over and above the half band designs.

Wavelength switchable mode-locked fiber laser with a few-mode fiber filter

We have proposed and constructed a few-mode fiber(FMF)-based comb filter realized by dislocation splicing a fewmode long-period fiber grating(FM-LPFG) with a single-mode fiber(SMF). From an all-fiber laser with a FMF-based comb filter, the generation of switchable single-, dual-, triple-, and quadruple-wavelength continuous light has been ***, wavelength switchable mode-locked pulses have been obtained with the increased pump power. In the experiment, the output wavelength of the mode-locked fiber laser was changed from 1567.72 nm to 1571.04 nm, while the signal-to-noise(SNR) ratio was maintained above 61 d B. The switchable multiwavelength continuous wave(CW) and mode-locked all-fiber lasers have potentially important applications for fiber sensing, wavelength-division multiplexing(WDM) and signal processing.

REVISING PROPOSAL TO THE RECOMMENDED MEASUREMENT METHOD OF ERRORS OF PAL CHROMINANCE SIGNAL DEMODULATION ANGLE

This paper analyses the principles of the recommended method for measuring errors of PAL chrominance signal demodulation angle, which is constituted in IEC Publication 107-1[1]. Analysis shows that by means of above method, the measured phase matching error and amplitude matching error of delayed and undelayed signals are mixed with other errors. Thus the measurement results, especially for phase matching error, cannot correctly reflect the errors in associated circuits and cannot be used for assessing the properties of the comb filter or the receiver. In this paper, authors propose that the measuring signal and the measured point in the receiver should be changed. Practical measurement and observation of the line crawl on screen show that the modified method is more effective and more reasonable.

This paper describes two structures of the digital decimation filter which is used in ∑Δ A/Dconverters in ADSL. Single FIR and three stages comb-FIR-FIR the two presented structures. The hardware minimization is considered for each structure and the final simulation results and implementations are presented. Finally, a comparison between the two structures is done to choose the best structure based on the hardware cost.
