Hypothyroidism and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease:A coincidence or a causal relationship?

Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD)is a global problem.It may be caused by metabolic and hormonal disorders,including hypothyroidism.However,non-thyroid causes of NAFLD in people with hypothyroidism,including improper eating behavior and low physical activity,should be acknowledged.This study aimed to present the current literature on whether the development of NAFLD is related to hypothyroidism or a typical consequence of an unhealthy lifestyle in people with hypothyroidism.The results of previous studies do not allow for an unequivocal determination of the pathogenetic relationship between hypothyroidism and NAFLD.Important non-thyroid-initiating factors include providing too many calories in relation to requirements,consuming excessive amounts of monosaccharides and saturated fats,being overweight,and maintaining low physical activity levels.The recommended nutritional model for both hypothyroidism and NAFLD may be the Mediterranean diet,which is rich in fruits and vegetables,polyunsaturated fatty acids,and vitamin E.

The coincidence experimental setup for studying multiple electron processes at low energies established at the Institute of Modern Physics was presented. The setup includes time-of-flight spectrometer, position sensitive detector, and multi-parameter data acquisition system. Presented were a TOF spectrum for Ar 12+ on Ar collisions, a position spectrum obtained in O 2++He collisions, and a two-dimension spectrum for Ar 8++Ar collisions at 104 keV. The experimental results were analyzed in detail and 12 subprocesses were identified from the two-dimension spectrum.

Let f, g: X → Y be maps from a compact infra-nilmanifold X to a compact nilmanifold Y with dim X ≥ dim Y. In this note, we show that a certain Wecken type property holds, i.e., if the Nielsen number N(f, g) vanishes then f and g are deformable to be coincidence free. We also show that if X is a connected finite complex X and the Reidemeister coincidence number R(f, g) = ∞ then f ～ f' so that C(f', g) = {x ∈ X | f'(x) = g(x)} is empty.

In this study, a novel phoswich detector for beta–gamma coincidence detection is designed. Unlike the triple crystal phoswich detector designed by researchers at the University of Missouri, Columbia, this phoswich detector is of the semi-well type, so it has a higher detection efficiency. The detector consists of BC-400 and NaI:Tl with decay time constants of 2.4 and 230 ns, respectively.The BC-400 scintillator detects beta particles, and the Na I:Tl cell is used for gamma detection. Geant4 simulations of this phoswich detector find that a 2-mm-thick BC-400 scintillator can absorb nearly all of the beta particles whose energies are below 700 keV. Further, for a 2.00-cmthick NaI:Tl crystal, the gamma source peak efficiency for photons ranges from a maximum of nearly 90% at 30 keV to 10% at 1 MeV. The self-absorption effect is also discussed in this paper in order to determine the carrier gas' s influence.

In this article,some coupled coincidence point results for two mappings g:X→X and G:X×X→X satisfying F-contractive type conditions are obtained,and some coupled fixed point results are derived in partially ordered metric spaces.A sufficient condition for uniqueness of coupled point of coincidence are established for F type contraction,and a coupled common fixed point theorem is obtained.Some examples are given to support our results.

BACKGROUND Chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma(CLL/SLL) is often associated with an increased risk of developing subsequent neoplasms of epithelial and mesenchymal origin.coincidence of CLL/SLL and urothelial carcinoma(UC) is very rare.Herein,we report a case of synchronous renal pelvis carcinoma with SLL.CASE SUMMARY A 78-year-old man presented with the complaint of terminal painless gross hematuria for the past 2 mo.On physical examination,enlarged lymph nodes were palpable in the cervical and axillary regions.The patient’s peripheral blood film was normal.He had a significant smoking history for the past 50 years.Cystoscopy revealed bleeding in the left upper urinary tract.Abdominal computed tomography imaging demonstrated a left renal pelvis tumor.The patient underwent laparoscopic radical nephroureterectomy.Histopathology revealed left renal pelvis high-grade invasive papillary UC and SLL involving the kidney and bone marrow.Renal pelvis lymphatic tissue and lymphocytes were positive for CD5,CD20,and CD23.In addition,the following results were obtained:CD3(-),Ki-67(30%+),Bcl-2(+),Bcl-6(+),CD10(-),and CD79a(+).Moreover,no UC metastasis was observed in the lymph nodes.CONCLUSION This is the first case of coincident CLL/SLL and upper tract UC in the literature.Cancer patients with lymphadenopathies should always be investigated to rule out the possibility of synchronous or metachronous malignancy.
