Indications of external radiotherapy for hepatocellular carcinoma from updated clinical guidelines: Diverse global viewpoints

The etiology and disease patterns of hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC)significantly vary among regions. Modern standard treatments commonly require multidisciplinary approaches, including applications of up-to date medicine and advanced procedures, and necessitate the support of socioeconomic systems. For these reasons, a number of clinical guidelines for HCC from different associations and regions have been presented. External beam radiation therapy was contraindicated for HCC until a few decades ago, but with the development of new technologies, its application has rapidly increased as selective irradiation for tumorous lesions became possible. Most of the guidelines had been opposed or indifferent to radiotherapy in the past, but several guidelines have introduced indications and recommendations for radiotherapy in their updated versions. This review will discuss the characteristics of important guidelines and their contents regarding radiotherapy and will also provide guidance to physicians who are considering applications of locoregional modalities that include radiotherapy.

A clinical guideline for the therapeutic interventions of integrative medicine may be defined as a written document which states a series of recommendations on therapeutic interventions of integrative medicine for a special disease or condition. The guideline may provide assistance to medical professionals in making clinical decisions aimed at improving the clinical outcome of patients and reducing the costs of medical care（~＇4~. Recommendations issued by a guideline should be based on the best available evidence in both Western and Chinese medicine. For fulfilling this purpose, the development of clinical guidelines for therapeutic interventions in the field of integrative medicine should follow scientific principles and undergo a rigorous processes.

Psoriasis is a chronic,non-communicable,painful,disfiguring and disabling disease for which there is no cure,with great negative impact on patients’quality of life(QoL).Diagnosis and treatment with traditional Chinese medical technique based on syndrome differentiation has been used in practice for a long time and proven effective,though,up to now,there are only a few available studies about the use of semantic technologies and the knowledge systems that use Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)-syndrome differentiation for information retrieval and automated *** this paper we use semantic techniques based on ontologies to develop a prototypical system for the diagnosis of *** this purpose,a domain ontology is developed for syndrome differentiation of psoriasis vulgaris(PV).This ontology is founded on an adapted version of the general formal ontology(GFO),with the evidence-based clinical practice guideline of TCM for psoriasis vulgaris(guideline 2013)as the primary data *** implemented prototype,called ONTOPV,contains this domain ontology and is aimed at a decision support system for diagnosis and treatment of *** system uses a case-database for Case Based Reasoning(CBR),combined with fuzzy pattern *** results show that the ONTOPV realizes the basic functionalities of data collection,querying,browsing and navigation,and supports rule-based knowledge reasoning,and integrates fuzzy pattern *** can provide users with clinical decision support for TCM syndrome differentiation in diagnosis of psoriasis.

Esophageal carcinoma(EC)is a common malignant tumor of the upper digestive tract *** analysis of the latest data from cancer centers in China showed that the incidence of EC and the number of deaths due to EC in China in 2015 were 266,000 and 188,000,respectively,ranking sixth(6.3%)and fourth(8.0%)among all malignant *** early diagnosis and treatment of EC and standardized diagnosis and treatment are important tasks for EC healthcare professionals in various centers across the *** present,the 8th edition of the EC staging system jointly released by Union for International Cancer Control(UICC)and American Joint Committee on Cancer(AJCC)is the most recent,authoritative and widely used EC staging *** EC professional committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association also organizes the"EC Standardization Campaign in China"every year to promote the development of EC diagnostic and treatment norms throughout the *** 2011,the EC Committee of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association has published the guidelines for Standardized Diagnosis and Treatment of *** the increasing number of EC clinical studies and the continuous progress in diagnostic and treatment technologies in recent years,the updated guidelines will include the latest progress in the diagnosis and treatment of EC,with a goal of promoting the forward development of EC diagnosis and treatment in clinical practice.

Objective:This study provides a preliminary evaluation of the usability and acceptability of a mobile application(sexual assault care algorithm,SACA).Methods:An explanatory sequential mixed methods research was used.A quantitative survey was followed up by a qualitative study.A convenience sample of participants(n=4)was *** research was conducted on a one-on-one *** the quantitative phase,a random assignment technique was used to divide four participants into two groups of two participants ***-Study System Usability Questionnaire(PSSUQ)and Acceptability e-Scale were used to collect quantitative *** the qualitative phase,interview,observation,and documentation were used to collect qualitative *** were analyzed both quantitative and *** qualitative data were linked with the initial quantitative data to determine how the follow-up qualitative data helped explain the initial quantitative ***:The quantitative results suggested that SACA has high usability(5.05±1.83)and acceptability(3.81±1.22).The qualitative results further indicate that the participants thought SACA was easy to use and useful,and most of them would recommend it to *** of improvement include adding features that would calculate and validate the elapsed time since the sexual assault,adding explanations to some buttons,and providing ***:Our findings highlight the value of using a mixed methods research design to conduct a usability and acceptability *** are more likely to adopt a new technology for their evidencebased practice when the technology is easy to use and useful and requires less time to find the right piece of guideline *** training needs to be designed based on users'characteristics.
