We are aimed to systematically assess the worldwide trend in mcidence of childhood type 1 diabetes mellitus(CT1DM)from 1965 to 2012 and to discuss whether climate affect incidence of *** searched the relevant literatures in detail to judge the effect of different climates on incidence of *** climates included Mediterranean,monsoon,oceanic,continental,savanna,and *** to different climates,we further researched relevant factor such as sunshine durations and *** overall incidence of CT1DM in 72 countries was 11.43(95%CI 10.31-12.55) per100,000 children/*** incidence of CT1DM in Oceanic climate[10.56(8.69-12.42)]is highest compared with other climates;the incidence in 40°-66°34’N/S[14.71(12.30-17.29)]is higher than other latitude groups;the incidence in sunshine durations with 3-4 hours per day[15.17(11.14-19.20)]is highest compared with other two groups;the incidence of CT1DM from 2000 to 2012[19.58(14.55-24.60)]is higher than other periods;all p climates might play a key role in inducing CT1DM.

A Spectrally Selective Window for Hot climates

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis has been used to design a glazing for hot climates. The designed glazing is relatively simple and it transmits most of the visible light and reflects most of the infrared radiation. It does not need any external source of energy to control its optical properties. It consists of ITO and four periodic pairs of Si/SiO2, deposited on a glass sheet. The optimum thicknesses of ITO, Si and SiO2 are 0.1 μm, 0.15 and 0.4 μm, respectively. The glazing acts as an optically selective filter. It transmits about 80% of the visible light and reflects almost all the infrared radiation. The performance of the glazing is almost independent of the angle of incidence of solar radiation. This makes it suitable for all hours of the day. The fabrication of the glazing and the testing have been performed at the laboratories of the Faculty of Science, University of Witwatersrand, South Africa. Magnetron sputtering technique has been used for the fabrication. ITO, Si and SiO2 have been used as sputtering targets. The experimental results are almost identical to the simulation results.

Indoor Environmental Quality of Air Conditioned Residential Buildings in Extreme Dry Desert Climate

In this study, the indoor environmental quality (IEQ) in air conditioned residential buildings in a dry desert climate is examined from the perspective of occupants via two aspects: thermal comfort and indoor air quality. The study presents statistical data about the domestic-occupant thermal comfort sensations together with data describing the indoor air quality in Kuwaiti residential buildings. With respect to the latter, the overall IEQ acceptance using two measurements namely: physical measurements and subjective information collected via questionnaires, was used to evaluate 111 occupants living in twenty five air-conditioned residential buildings in the state of Kuwait. The operative temperature based on Actual Mean Vote (AMV) and Predicted Mean Vote (PMV) was identified using linear regression analysis of responses on the ASHRAE seven-point thermal sensation scale and was found to be 25.2°C and 23.3°C, respectively, in the summer season. Indoor air quality (IAQ) with respect to carbon dioxide concentration level was compared with the acceptable limits of international standards, i.e. ASHRAE Standard 62.1 [1]. The proposed overall IEQ acceptance findings in residential buildings show CO2 concentration level between 909 and 1250 ppm. However, this may be considered a higher level of CO2 concentration, which may require increasing ventilation rate through window operation or mechanical ventilation.
