Preoperative functional MRI localization of language areas in chinese patients with brain tumors Validation with intraoperative electrocortical mapping

Ten chinese patients with brain tumors involving language regions were selected. Preoperative functional MRI was performed to locate Broca＇s or Wernicke＇s area, and the cortex that was essential for language function was determined by electrocortical mapping. A site-by-site comparison between functional MRI and electrocortical mapping was performed with the aid of a neuronavigation device. Results showed that the sensitivity and specificity of preoperative functional MRI were 80.0% and 85.0% in Broca＇s area and 66.6% and 85.2% in Wemicke＇s area, respectively. These experimental findings indicate that functional MRI is an accurate, reliable technique with which to identify the location of Wernicke＇s area or Broca＇s area in patients with brain tumors.

Indic loanwords in chinese language account for the largest number of loanwords in Mandarin chinese.These loanwords have become an important integral part of the lexicon of chinese language and throughout decades have undergone assimilation,semantic extension and phonological adaptation.The present study is an investigation into the modes,levels and history of Sinicization of Indic loanwords in chinese language.Fundamentally,it is evident from the literature and historical accounts that Sinicization of these loanwords is a process from foreignization to domestication.Native-chinese doctrines and philosophies,essentially Taoism and Confucianism have had multifaceted influences on the Sinicization process which has resulted in semantic extension,semantic change or total diminution of original meaning.While less used high culture-sensitive loanwords have completely disappeared from modern chinese,loanwords of higher Sinicization level have completely secularized.It is observed that foreignized loanwords have very less tendency of being absorbed into modern chinese and many such terms have been excluded in modern chinese dictionaries.

With the aim of obtaining an insight of the learning process of chinese language in Latin America,this study is focused on the learning experiences of native Spanish speaker students learning chinese language at the Confucius Institute of Venezuela.For this purpose,a series of questions related to the experiences and learning process of the students served to guide the research: 1.How do Spanish speaker students experience learning chinese language? 2.What are their motivations for learning chinese language? 3.What kind of problems have the students faced when learning chinese? 4.What could be done to better support them to learn chinese language?This is investigation follows a qualitative case study design because it can allow the researcher to obtain more details about the learning experiences and motivations of learners.In addition to this,the sampling strategy for this research was a purposive sampling,allowing the researchers to obtain more in-depth information about this specific case.Due to the fact that the Confucius Institute is the only formal institution in charge of teaching chinese in Venezuela,the type of purposive sampling applied was a unique sampling,aiming to focus on unique and atypical cases.Finally,the sample size was of 20 students,which were divided into two categories,those who speak English(10)and those who only speak Spanish(10).After this,they were sub-categorized into beginners(4),intermediate(4),and advanced(2).In addition to this,2 teachers were chosen according to their time and teaching experience in the country,especially to have a better understanding of the learning problems of students.This study found that the experiences of the students were determined by a series of different factors: 1.A positive learning environment,which was constituted mostly by positive affiliative bonds with other students(in and outside of the classroom),as well as a good relationship with their teachers.In addition to this,it was found that despite the fact that student have integrative or instrument

languages come from lives of people and characters are the conventional text symbol system in society.There are thou⁃sands of languages around the world,only less than half of which own the corresponding characters,and chinese is one of the lan⁃guages that has the corresponding characters.chinese characters are not only still in use today but also are the oldest and best pre⁃served characters all over the world,which because of the close connection with Han nationality and Han culture.The paper ex⁃plores the origin of chinese pronunciation,the origin of chinese writing,the development of chinese,and the connection between chinese and Han culture.Also,it is important and significant for people to know how to protect our own languages.

For Russian native speakers,the most popular world’s language – chinese – is one of the most difficult once to learn. There is a clear gap in mobile applications（apps） use in terms of linguistics. At present, there is no any scientifically based approach to evaluation of this type of product from methodological perspective. It turns out that apps for self-learning languages with apps increasingly becomes just a pleasant way to relax or to supplement the course, but much rarely helps learners. Discussing the main features of successful apps, we can answer the following questions: How can we evaluate a mobile app from a linguistic and methodological point of view? What are the requirements for such a new product? In this paper, we are going to formulate the list of requirements for the apps further development, which can be applicable for mobile apps for the chinese language self-learning at the beginners’ level for Russian-speaking learners. These requirements help to standardize the criteria for evaluating and selecting appropriate and methodologically useful mobile apps and improve the level of existing once.

Named entity recognition(NER)is essential in many natural language processing(NLP)tasks such as information extraction and document classification.A construction document usually contains critical named entities,and an effective NER method can provide a solid foundation for downstream applications to improve construction management efficiency.This study presents a NER method for chinese construction documents based on conditional random field(CRF),including a corpus design pipeline and a CRF model.The corpus design pipeline identifies typical NER tasks in construction management,enables word-based tokenization,and controls the annotation consistency with a newly designed annotating specification.The CRF model engineers nine transformation features and seven classes of state features,covering the impacts of word position,part-of-speech(POS),and word/character states within the context.The F1-measure on a labeled construction data set is 87.9%.Furthermore,as more domain knowledge features are infused,the marginal performance improvement of including POS information will decrease,leading to a promising research direction of POS customization to improve NLP performance with limited data.
