The necessity of establishing a Unified Isostatic Datum (UID) for studying the sea levelchanges along the coast of China is discussed in this paper. A so-called Coastal Land Ver-tical Movement Isostatic Datum (CLVMID) is established based on precise releveling dataperformed from the 1950s to 1980s and some coniunction releveling data with tide *** the data consists of about 250,000 km releveling lines and covers the whole mainland ofChina. As examples, datum corrections for sea level changes derived from two tide stationsand recent crustal vertical movement in the Yangtse Delta area relative to the datum aregiven to explain the significance of the isostatic datum in the research of the sea levelchange trend.

The research on the respondence and feedback of modern sand deserts to the climate change is an important component part in the studies on the global climate change. Deserts respond to the climate change, meanwhile, they affect the climate with their feedback of peculiar environment during the respondence. Many researches on desert climate have been carried out at home and abroad. However, there is little research on the respondence and feedback of modern fixed, semi-fixed and mobile deserts in arid areas to the climate change, in which the factor analysis as well as the parameter changing effects is especially the difficult problem all along. In this note, the parameters of the respondence and feedback of Gurbantunggut Desert to the climate change are measured and analyzed, some variable parameters of water-heat exchange are obtained, and a numerical model of desertification is developed according to a series of climate change of about 40 years and the variable relations of meteorological and physical

This paper has analysed the major characteristics of long-term variation, of summermonsoon climate in South Asia since 1888. An abrupt enhancement of summer monsoon inthe 1920s and its synchronism with the global rapid warming have been detected by theMann-Kendall Rank Statistic test. Based on diagnostic analysis on the atmospheric circulationover the monsoon region and the thermal conditions of both ocean and land during theperiod of abrupt change, it is found that the warming over land was stronger and earlierthan that over the ocean, which would enhance the land-sea thermal contrast and thereforebe favorable to the development of monsoon low and the disturbance in the monsoon *** may be a direct factor for the abrupt enhancement of summer monsoon.

The equatorial Current in the North Pacific(NEC) is an upper layer westward ocean current, which flows to the west boundary of the ocean, east of the Philippines, and bifurcates into the northerly Kuroshio and the main body of the southerly Mindanao current. Thus, NEC is both the south branch of the Subtropical Circulation and the north branch of the Tropical Circulation. The junction of the two branches extends to the west boundary to connect the bifurcation points forming the bifurcation line. The position of the North Pacific Equatorial Current bifurcation line of the surface determines the exchange between and the distribution of subtropical and tropical circulations, thus affecting the local or global climate. A new identification method to track the line and the bifurcation channel was used in this study, focusing on the climatological characteristics of the western boundary of the North Equatorial Current bifurcation line. The long-term average NEC west boundary bifurcation line shifts northwards with depth. In terms of seasonal variation, the average position of the western boundary of the bifurcation line is southernmost in June and northernmost in December, while in terms of interannual variation, from spring to winter in the years when ENSO is developing, the position of the west boundary bifurcation line of NEC is relatively to the north(south) in EI Ni?o(La Ni?a) years as compared to normal years.

In the conventional optical coating, the minimum thickness required to achieve anti-reflection should be quarter wavelength(λ/4n, where n is the refractive index). However, it was demonstrated that a lossy thin film with the thickness below quarter wavelength can also sustain the interference effect leading to a high absorption close to unity. In this paper we show that by depositing a phase change material Ge2Sb2Te5(GST) thin film(amorphous) on a metal reflector, unity absorption is attainable. We attribute the high absorption to the interference effect within the GST thin film even though its thickness is less than a quarter wavelength. The wavelength of the absorption peak can be tuned by adjusting the GST film thickness. In addition, the performance of this perfect absorber is insensitive to the incidence angle variation. Relying on the fact that GST is a phase change material, the absorption band can be tuned by inducing the phase transition of GST. The huge difference of the reflectivity between amorphous and crystalline phase leads to a high optical contrast ratio as high as 400 at the specific wavelength, suggesting the potential in the application of optical switch and rewritable data storage.

The effect of pHs on structural stability of the zinc-containing metalloenzyme carbonic anhydrase has been studied by means of differential scanning calorimetry. The rule of the conformational change for the enzyme with pH change has been found by thermodynamic analysis. The experimental results also provide valuable information: in the pH range from 5.26 to 9.04, two independent endothermal peaks were observed on DSC thermogram. It shows the existence of two structural domains in the molecule. The transition temperature and enthalpy of the two domains are different.
