Background The number of coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)cases has rapidly increased all over the *** information about immunity in non-survivors with COVID-19 is *** study aimed to analyse the clinical characteristics and abnormal immunity of the confirmed COVID-19 *** In this single-centered,retrospective,observational study,we enrolled 125 patients with COVID-19 who were died between January 13 and March 4,2020 in Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University.A total of 414 randomly recruited patients with confirmed COVID-19 who were discharged from the same hospital during the same period served as *** demographic,clinical characteristics and laboratory findings at admission,and treatment used in these patients were *** immunity-related risk factors associated with in-hospital death were tested by logistic regression models and Receiver Operating Characteristic(ROC)*** Non-survivors(70 years,IQR:61.5–80)were significantly older than survivors(54 years,IQR:37–65)(P<0.001).56.8%of non-survivors was *** half of the patients(44.9%)had chronic medical *** non-survivors,hypertension(49.6%)was the most common comorbidity,followed by diabetes(20.0%)and coronary heart disease(16.0%).The common signs and symptoms at admission of non-survivors were fever(88%),followed by cough(64.8%),dyspnea(62.4%),fatigue(62.4%)and chest tightness(58.4%).Compared with survivors,non-survivors had higher white blood cell(WBC)count(7.85 vs 5.07×109/L),more elevated neutrophil count(6.41 vs 3.08×109/L),smaller lymphocyte count(0.69 vs 1.20×109/L)and lower platelet count(172 vs 211×109/L),raised concentrations of procalcitonin(0.21 vs 0.06 ng/mL)and CRP(70.5 vs 7.2 mg/L)(P<0.001).This was accompanied with significantly decreased levels of CD3+T cells(277 vs 814 cells/μl),CD4+T cells(172 vs 473 cells/μl),CD8+T cells(84 vs 262.5 cells/μl,P<0.001),CD19+T cells(88 vs 141 cells/μl)and CD16+56+T cells(79 vs 128.5 cells/μl)(P<0.0

Objective： To evaluate clinical effects of Shenqi Fuzheng Injection （参芪抉正注射液） in the neoadjuvant chemotherapy for local advanced breast cancer and the effects on T-lymphocyte subsets. Methods： During the period from 2000 to 2005, 126 patients with local advanced breast cancer were treated with the neoadjuvant chemotherapy. They were randomly divided into the following two groups： a control group of 61 cases treated by chemotherapy alone and a study group of 65 cases treated by chemotherapy plus Shenqi Fuzheng Injection, All the cases of both groups were given the CEF （CTX 500 mg/m^2, d1, 8; EP140 mg/m^2, d1, 8; and 5-Fu 500 mg/m^2, d1,8） regimen. The clinical effects, the effects on T-lymphocyte subgroup and NK cells, and the toxic side effects were observed. Results： All the patients completed two cycles of the chemotherapy, and the efficacy and the toxic side effects were evaluated. For the primary tumor in the breast, the total effective rate was 69.2% （45/65） in the study group and 49.2% （30/61） in the control group with a statistically significant difference in the intergroup comparison （x^2=5.251, P=0.022, 〈 0.05）. There was no progression of the disease in both the groups, and there were no grade IV toxic side effects in the two groups. The major toxic responses were myelosuppression and gastrointestinal reaction, which were milder in the study group than the control group, and with a shorter recovery course in the former than the latter. Besides, an obvious rise of the T-lymphocyte subgroup and NK cells was found in the study group after the neoadjuvant chemotherapy, with a very significant difference from the controls （P〈0.01）. Conclusions： Shenqi Fuzheng Injection can improve and regulate immune function of the patients with local advanced breast cancer given the neoadjuvant chemotherapy, and therefore it can enhance the curative effect and reduce the side effect as well.

The Chinese herb Houttuynia cordata Thunb(abbreviated as HCT hereafter)has been widely used in human and livestock medical ***,few studies have tested the effects of HCT in aquaculture systems,particularly in *** this study,the impact of HCT was evaluated when used as a feed additive to enhance the immune response of the sea cucumber,Apostichopus *** concentrations,1.5%and 3%,of HCT powder were tested by adding them to the *** experiments had a four week duration and each week,the humoral and cellular immunity index of the intestine,tentacles,peristome,and coelomic fluid were *** results indicated that the percentage of *** coelomocytes significantly increased after supplementing feed with HCT,and reached a peak after one week of feeding with the 3%HCT *** of reactive oxygen species(ROS)indicated that HCT in feed caused a notable increase in the coelomocyte ROS concentrations over the experimental *** both the 1.5%and 3%HCT addition groups,the ROS peaked in the third week and then remained *** addition,alkaline phosphatase,acid phosphatase,superoxide dismutase,lysozyme activity of the intestine,tentacles,peristome and coelomic fluid were significantly improved during the four-week test *** conclusion,1.5%and 3%HCT added to feed boosts the immune responses of *** has potential as an immune enhancer for mariculture of sea cucumbers.

Objective To construct eukaryotic expression vector of HPV18 L1-E6, E7 chimeric gene and examine the humoral and cellular immune responses induced by this DNA vaccines in mice. Methods The C-terminal of major capsid protein L1 gene and mutant zinc finger domains of early E6/7 oncogenes in HPV18 were integrated and inserted into eukaryotic expression vector pVAX1 to generate vaccines pVAX1-L1E6Mxx, E7Mxx. CHO cells were transiently transfected with the individual construct. Target protein expressions in the lysate of the transfected cells were measured by ELISA and immunocytochemistry. After BALB/c mice were vaccinated with various recombinant plasmids(pVAX1-L1-E6M3 or pVAX1-L1-E7M3) and immunie adjuvants (pLXHDmB7-2 or LTB) through different administration routes (intramuscular or intranasal) , the great cellular immune responses were produced as revealed by delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) and lymphocyte proliferation, and the expression of IL-4 and IFN-γ cells in CD4 + and CD8 + subpopulations. Results The highly efficient expression of pVAX1-L1E6Mxx, E7Mxx vector in host eukaryotic cells were demonstrated both by ELISA and immunocytochemistry. The level of specific serum IgG against HPV in experiment groups mice was much higher than that of control group, and intranuscular immunization group had the highest antibody level. Intramuscular immunization groups were superior to intranasal immunization groups in DTH response, splenocyte proliferation and CD8+ IFN-γ + cells number, but CD4 + IL4 + cell number was higher in intranasal immunization groups. The immunization groups using pLXHDmB7-2 as adjuvant were superior to other groups in immunoresponse. Conclusion These DNA vaccines produce remarkable cellular and humoral immune responses in the mouse and may provide as prophylatic and therapeutic candidates for HPV induced cancer treatment.

Objective To investigate the effect of reinforced Decoction of Angelicae Sinensis for enriching blood (RDAEB) on the immunity of immunosuppressed mice induced by cyclophosphamide (Cy). Methods Mice were given RDAEB through stomach perfusion for 10 d (50 mg/d). Then, RBC-C3bR rate,RBC-IC rate (as the index- es of erythrocyte immunity)and E-rosette forming rate,acidic a-naphthyl acetate esterase positive rate, lymphocyte transformation rate (as the indexes of cellular immunity) of mice were tested. Results RBC-C3Br rate, RBC-IC rat- e,E-rosette forming rate, acidic α-naphthyl acetate esterase positive rate and lymphocyte transformation rate in the Cy-RDAEB group were markedly higher than those in the Cy group (Pcellular and erythrocyte immunity of immuno- suppressed mice.

Objective: To study mechanisms by which human gliomas may escape immune surveillance Methods: The effect of supernatant (SN) obtained from cultured media of malignant glioma cell lines on the proliferation of phytohemagglutinin p stimulated peripheral blood lymphocytes (PBLs) from healthy subjects and patients with gliomas was examined by MTT assay The immunosuppressive factor which might be existed in the SN was identified by neutralization method with specific antibodies and Northern blot hybridization of glioma cells In addition, the cellular immunity of patients with gliomas and relevant hormone and catecholamine were determined Results: It was found that the malignant glioma cells could release an immunosuppressive factor in an autocrine fashion which was further identified as the transforming growth factor β 2 (TGF β 2) It was also demonstrated that the plasma levels of norepinephrine in glioma patients were significantly reduced and correlated well with the suppression of the patients' own cellular immunity Conclusions: Two distinct mechanisms by which human gliomas may evade immune surveillance: 1 The secretion of an immunosuppressive factor which was identified as TGF β 2; 2 The dysfunction of Neuro Immune modulation in the presence of cerebral gliomas

Diabetic Nephropathy (DN) is considered the main cause of end stage kidney disease around the world. However, its pathogenesis is not completely established. More than just a direct consequence of chronic glycemic changes, recent studies had suggested Diabetic Nephropathy could be considered an inflammatory disease. It has been shown that concentrations of pro-inflammatory cytokines, as IL-1, IL-6, IL-18, IL-33, IFN-γ and TNF-α actively participate in development and progression of DN, and thus, are involved in pathogenesis. Besides, changes in acquired immune response, especially the presence of cellular immune response profiles of pro-inflammatory and effector nature, mainly Th1 and Th17, as the imbalance between interaction of cytokines and T regulatory cells, foment the onset and progression of DN. Here we summarize the main evidences that support the critical role of the immune system in this condition. These new conceptual advances in DN understanding are essential for development of new the rapeutical strategies and prognostic factors, which could be protagonists or adjuvants to the current ones, leading ultimately to a better clinical management of DN patients.
