THERMALLY CYCLING AND MIXED GAS carbonizing

This paper introduces a new approach to metal surface hardening. By utilizing thermally cycling and mixed agents to speed up diffusion of diffusing elements, the carbonizing rate is greatly enhanced and the structure of the strengthened case is more satisfactory, thus obtaining much longer services of machine parts. The mechanism of the new approach is discussed.

Processing Technique of carbonizing by Stir-Frying for Baked Rheum tanguticum Maxim.ex Balf. Optimized by Orthogonal Design

[Objectives]To optimize the processing technology of baked Rheum tanguticum carbon.[Methods]Firstly,the baking temperature and baking time were investigated by single factor,and the content of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural(5-HMF)was determined by HPLC.The main influencing factors of baking effect were baking temperature,baking time and tablet specifications.The L 9(34)orthogonal design experiment was carried out to optimize the processing technique of R.tanguticum carbon.[Results]The optimum processing technique was as follows:small-sized tablets,controlled oven baking temperature at(210±2)℃,and baking time of 20 min.[Conclusions]The optimum processing technique of R.tanguticum carbon is reasonable and feasible.Thus,this experiment can provide a certain reference for processing method and quality control of R.tanguticum carbon.

Thermionic Electron Emission Stability of Mo-La_2O_3 Cathode

The carbonizing process and its influence on the thermionic electron emission properties of Mo-La_2O_3 cathode materials were investigated. The carbonized temperature, carbonized time and the pressure of C_6H_6 are key factors of the carbonizing process. The carbonized ratio of Mo-La_2O_3 cathode increases with the increase of carbonizing temperature at low temperature. The highest carbonized ratio is 19.7% obtained at 1723 K, then the carbonized ratio decreases rapidly if temperature increases further. The carbonized ratio increases with the prolongation of carbonizing time during the process of first 6 min., after that the carbonization ratio changes little with the time increase, and the carbonized ratio increases with the increase of the C_6H_6 pressure when the pressure is low, the maximum carbonized ratio reaches 19.7% at 1.5×10^(-2) Pa, then the carbonized ratio goes down sharply when the C_6H_6 pressure is over 1.5×10^(-2) Pa. The emission properties at different operated temperatures and the emission current stability of FU-6051 tubes (equipped) with Mo-La_2O_3 cathodes were also studied in the article. The study results indicate that the emission can keep stable only when the operating temperature is from 1700 to 1800 K and the carbonized layer must be composed by Mo_2C only. The FU-6051 tubes (equipped) with Mo-La_2O_3 cathodes have excellent stable emission current and the lifetime exceeds 3000 h when the cathode′s carbonized ratio is 19.7% operated at 1773 K.

This paper presents the principles and experiment results of a new carbon potential control system based on the gas sensors array. The carbonizing process is controlled with the sensors outside of the heat treatment furnaces. The phase transformation dynamic model was employed to the feature extraction of the responding signals of gas sensors. The mathematical model built with the feature vectors can be used to calculate the carbon potential. The relationships between carbon potential and responding signals of gas sensors were established. Working environment of sensors were greatly improved comparing with those sensors working in the heat treatment furnaces. The measurement precision satisfys the needs of carbonizing processes.
