carbon dots-derived three-dimensional-ordered macroporous host with high penetrability and catalytic activity for LSBs under lean electrolyte

The practical energy density of lithium-sulfur batteries(LSBs)is seriously limited by the high electrolyte-to-sulfur ratios(E/S).The E/S can be reduced by employing hosts with easy-to-infiltrate structure that ensures the uniform distribution of a lean electrolyte and high catalytic activity that can suppress"shuttle effect"via accelerating the slow conversion of soluble poly sulfides to insoluble *** the easy-to-infiltrate structures,the three-dimensional-ordered macroporous(3DOM)structure is easier to scale preparation and more suitable for the existing industrial ***,it is difficult to obtain the 3DOM with(1)high penetrability due to the high viscosity of frequently-used organic polymer precursors and(2)high catalytic activity due to the low confinement effect,meaning that uniformly dispersed small-sized catalytic materials are difficult to load on ***,using carbon dots(CDs)with both organic and inorganic properties as a precursor and aggregation limiting agent,a 3DOM host with high penetrability and homodispersed Ni particles of small sizes(Ni-CDs-3DOM)was *** this host:(1)CDs precursor with suitable viscosity can improve the penetrability.(2)CDs can effectively inhibit the agglomeration of Ni particles.(3)Uniformly dispersed small-size Ni particles offer high-efficiency catalytic activity toward sulfur ***,the Ni-CDs-3DOM/sulfur cathode exhibits high sulfur utilization and stable cycling performance even under high sulfur loading(5.5 mg·cm^(-2))and low E/S(6.5μl·mg^(-1)).This work indicates the usefulness of CDs in constructing hosts for LSBs with high energy density.

carbon dots regulate the interface electron transfer and catalytic kinetics of Pt-based alloys catalyst for highly efficient hydrogen oxidation

The regulation of interface electron-transfer and catalytic kinetics is very important to design the efficient electrocatalyst for alkaline hydrogen oxidation reaction(HOR).Here,we show the Pt-Ni alloy nanoparticles(PtNi_(2))have an enhanced HOR activity compared with single component Pt ***,the interface electron-transfer kinetics of PtNi_(2)catalyst exhibits a very wide electron-transfer speed *** combined with carbon dots(CDs),the interface charge transfer of PtNi_(2)-CDs composite is optimized,and then the PtNi_(2)-5 mg CDs exhibits about 2.67 times and 4.04 times higher mass and specific activity in 0.1 M KOH than that of 20%commercial Pt/*** this system,CDs also contribute to trapping H^(+)and H_(2)O generated during HOR,tuning hydrogen binding energy(HBE),and regulating interface electron *** work provides a deep understanding of the interface catalytic kinetics of Pt-based alloys towards highly efficient HOR catalysts design.

carbon dots Intensified Mechanochemiluminescence from Waterborne Polyurethanes as Tunable Force Sensing Materials

1,2-Dioxetane is a well-known chemiluminescent mechanophore allowing real-time monitoring of polymer chain scission,but usually suffers from fluorescence quenching in polar ***,a series of mechanochemiluminescent waterborne polyurethanes/carbon dots composites(WPU-CDs)have been synthesized by incorporating fluorescent CDs to promote the energy transfer process in different *** resulting bulk WPUs,and in particular,their swollen films filled with a large amount of polar solvents(water and ionic liquid)emit intense *** force-induced covalent bond scission and stress distribution within these different WPU-CDs films can be sensitively ***,the ionic liquid containing films exhibited both electrical and luminescent signal changes under stretching,which offer a new kind of force sensor responsive at a broad detecting strain range and for multi-mode strain *** study is expected to stimulate new research endeavors in mechanistic insight on waterborne polyurethanes and the corresponding stretchable sensing devices.

carbon dots(CDs)with intriguing fluorescent property,good biocompatibility,high stability,easy interaction with substrates,are burgeoning carbon nanoparticles with large potential in various *** CDs into the polymer matrix is becoming a popular strategy to endow the complex with new ***,the green-synthesized CDs was integrated into the mixture of gelatin(derived from waste fish scale)and chitosan,and a multifunctional bio-nanocomposite(defined as Gelatin/Chitosan/CDs)film was developed,which showed the excellent antibacterial,antioxidant,pH-sensitivity,UV shielding,and blue-emission *** effects of different concentrations of CDs on the physical,mechanical,structural,and functional activity of bio-nanocomposite film were *** with the Gelatin/Chitosan film,the Gelatin/Chitosan/CDs film with an optimum addition of 20%CDs showed the enhanced antibacterial,antioxidant as well as UV shielding *** importantly,it was used as an effective packaging material for fish meat preservation,reducing the loss of nutritional quality consumption,extending the shelf life of ***,the bio-nanocomposite films also possessed the anti-counterfeiting and pH-responsive properties due to the strong fluorescent emission of CDs,and had the great potential in developing the intelligent packaging *** work shed new light on the new application of CDs and the synthesis of bio-nanocomposite film in food industry.

Herein,a reversible pH fluorescent sensor was developed using caffeic acid as the precursor by one-step solvothermal synthesis *** carbon dots-based sensor(CA-CDs)exhibited pH-dependent increase in fluorescence intensity and showed linear relationship in the range of pH 6.60 and ***,the fluorescence sensor has a reversible response to pH ***,the CA-CDs has been successfully applied for two-photon imaging of the pH in liver and kidney of diabetic *** results showed that the pH value in kidney of diabetic mice was lower than that of the normal mice,while the pH value in liver of diabetic mice was almost the same as that of the normal *** present study provides a simple analytical method for pH detection suitable for in vivo.

Na^(+)batteries(SIBs)have been emerging as the most promising candidate for the next generation of secondary ***,the development of high-performance and cost-effective anode materials is urgently needed for the large-scale applications of *** this study,carbon dots confined bimetallic sulfide(NiCO_(2)S_(4))architecture(NiCO_(2)S_(4)@CDs)was proposed and synthesized from assembling nanosheets into cross-stacked superstructure and the subsequent confinement of carbon *** novel decussated structure assembly from nanosheets is greatly beneficial to the structure stability of electrode material during the successive charge/discharge ***,the CDs based carbon conductive network can enhance the electrical conductivity for facilitating the easy transport of electron/Na^(+).Benefitting from these advantages,NiCO_(2)S_(4)@CDs exhibits high-rate performance and an ultralong cycling life in ***,the specific capacity of NiCO_(2)S_(4)@CDs can reach the discharge specific capacity as high as 568.9 mAh/g at 0.5 A/g,which can also maintain 302.7 m Ah/g after 750 cycles at 5.0 A/***,ex-situ characterization techniques such as ex-situ XRD and ex-situ XPS were employed to further explore the sodium storage mechanism of the NiCO_(2)S_(4)@CDs anode.

carbon dots as“On–Off–On”Fluorescence Sensors for Selective and Consecutive Detection of 4-Nitrophenol and Cerium(IV)in Water Samples

An“on–off–on”fluorescence sensor was designed for rapidly and consecutively detecting 4-nitrophenol and cerium(IV)without the use of any labeling *** yellow carbon dots were synthesized by a simple one-step hydrothermal approach,and various techniques were applied to investigate the morphology,structure,and optical properties of the carbon *** the optimal experimental conditions,4-nitrophenol rapidly quenched the fluorescence of carbon dots as a result of the inner filter eff ect(IFE).The fluorescence intensity of carbon dots was linear with the concentration of 4-nitrophenol(1–150μmol/L)and the limit of detection was 0.32μmol/*** fluorescence was gradually recovered as the cerium(IV)concentration(0.5–100μmol/L)increased in CDs/4-NP,and the limit of detection was 0.16μmol/*** sensor showed good selectivity and demonstrated high accuracy for the analysis of 4-nitrophenol and cerium(IV)in actual water samples.

The chemoselective hydrogenation of structurally diverse nitroaromatics is a challenging ***,catalyst activity tends to decrease when excellent selectivity is *** here present a novel photocatalyst combining amino-functionalized carbon dots(N-CDs)with copper selenite nanoparticles(N-CDs@CuSeO_(3))for simultaneously improving selectivity and *** visible light irradiation,the prepared N-CDs@CuSeO_(3)exhibits 100%catalytic selectivity for the formation of 4-aminostyrene at full conversion of 4-nitrostyrene in aqueous solvent within a few *** excellent photocatalytic performance is mainly attributed to the precise control of the hydrogen species released from the ammonia borane by means of light-converted electrons upon N-CDs@CuSeO_(3).Besides,the defect states at the interface of N-CDs and CuSeO_(3)enable holes to be trapped for promoting separation and transfer of photogenerated charges,allowing more hydrogen species to participate in catalytic reaction.
