The mixture of CaHPO 4·2H 2O and CaCO 3 was ground in an aqueous system under appropriate conditions to investigate the mechanochemical reaction for the synthesis of crystalline hydroxyapatite (HA) powder. Hydroxyapatite of high crystallinity powder including trace Ca 10 (PO 4) 6CO 3(OH) and Ca 9HPO 4(PO 4) 6OH can be synthesized by mechanical activation without further thermal treatment at a high temperature. The synthesis reaction during the grinding process was almost completed within 1h. The as-ground powder exhibits a particle distribution of 20-100nm in size with a spherical or rodlike morphology. The composition and degree of crystallinity of the mechanochemical synthesized hydroxyapatite powders were coincident with the cement-type hydroxyapatite.

The adsorption curves of carboxymethylated lignin(CML) and sodium lignosulfonate(SL) on calcium carbonate and iron(Ⅲ) oxide particles were determined by Quartz crystal microbalance(QCM),respectively. The results were as follows: When calcium carbonate was used as the adsorbate, the concentration of CML corresponding to saturated adsorption was 200 mg·kg and the saturated adsorption was 4.6797 mg·g. Similarly, for SL, the corresponding concentration was 500 mg·kg and the relevant saturated adsorption was 6.0522 mg·g. When iron(Ⅲ) oxide was used as the adsorbate, for CML, the adsorption capacity firstly increased and then decreased with the increase of the concentration but no saturation capacity appeared. For SL, its concentration under saturated adsorption was 500mg·kg and the saturated adsorption capacity was 3.4300 mg·g. For the comparison, the adsorption curves were also determined by the traditional ultraviolet spectrophotometry(UV) method. The result showed difference between determined adsorption under different concentrations by the two methods was small and the relative error was within ±10%. It proved that QCM was feasible to determine the adsorption capacity of water-soluble ligin derivatives on the surface of calcium carbonate and iron(Ⅲ)oxide particles. This method had a wider scope of application and was a simple, precise and effective method.

The CaCO and CaCO:Euphosphors have been synthesized by solid state reaction at room temperature without further sintering *** morphology,crystalline structure,and fluorescent properties of the samples were characterized by scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),spectrofluorometer,***,the influences of Eu-doping concentration on the photoluminescence(PL)properties were investigated in *** results indicate that the morphology of as-prepared CaCOparticles are irregular cubic in shape and about 200-400nm in size,while the CaCO:Euparticles are the aggregates of many small nanoparticles with nearly30nm in size,indicating that Euions have a great influence on the CaCO particle morphology and *** lines around 392nm in luminescence excitation spectrum is the most *** excitation at392nm,the PL emission spectrum is composed of two band and strong peaks at 589nm and at *** peaks at 589nm is attributed to magnetic dipole transitionD-F and with the increase of the Eu-doped concentration,the intensity decreases gradually;but it shows the opposite trend for the peak at 613nm which is attributed to the hyper sensitively forced electric dipole transitionD-F.

Magnesium slag(MS)is an industrial byproduct with high CO_(2)sequestration *** study investigates the carbonation behavior and microstructural changes of MS during wet carbonation at 0℃.XRD,TG,FTIR,SEM,and BET techniques were used to characterize the phase composition,microstructure,and porosity of MS samples carbonated for different *** results showed that the main carbonation products were calcite,vaterite,and highly polymerized silica gel,with particle sizes around 1μ*** low-temperature environment retarded the carbonation reaction rate and affected the morphology and crystallization of calcium *** 480 min of carbonation,the specific surface area and porosity of MS increased substantially by 740%and 144.6%,respectively,indicating improved *** microstructure of carbonated MS became denser with calcite particles surrounded by silica *** study demonstrates that wet carbonation of MS at 0℃significantly enhances its properties,creating an ultrafine supplementary cementitious material with considerable CO_(2)sequestration capacity.
