Pre-judgment and Incomplete Allocation Approach for Query Result cache

Query result caching is a crucial technique employed in search engines, reducing the response time and load of the search engines. As search engines continuously update their indexes, the query results in long-lived cache entries may become stale. It is important to provide the refresh mechanism to enhance the degree of freshness of cached results. We present a pre-judgment approach to improve the freshness of the result cache and design an incomplete allocation algorithm. We introduce the queryTime-to-live(TTL) and term-TTL structure to pre-judge the result cache. The query-TTL is used to pre-check the likelihood of a cache hit and term-TTL is applied to maintain all terms of the latest posting list. For the cache structure, we design a Queue-Hash structure and develop the corresponding incomplete allocation algorithm. The preliminary results demonstrate that our approaches can improve the freshness of cached results and decrease processing overhead compared with no pre-judgment approaches.

The cache-based covert channel is one of the common vulnerabilities exploited in the Spectre *** mitigation strategies focus on blocking the eviction-based channel by using a random/encrypted mapping function to translate memory address to the cache address,while the updated-based channel is still *** addition,some mitigation strategies are also costly as it needs software and hardware *** this paper,our objective is to devise low-cost,comprehensive-protection techniques for mitigating the Spectre *** proposed a novel cache structure,named EBcache,which focuses on the RISC-V processor and applies the address encryption and blacklist to resist the Spectre *** addresses encryption mechanism increases the difficulty of pruning a minimal eviction *** blacklist mechanism makes the updated cache lines loaded by the malicious updates *** experiments demonstrated that the EBcache can prevent malicious *** EBcache,however,reduces the processor’s performance by about 23%but involves only a low-cost modification in the hardware.

This essay presents the DSP + FPGA structure based high-performance image processing system. It aims at solving the overtime-processing problem brought by the increasing complexity of images through the cache-structured image-processing driver. This system allows frame-dropping whenever the processing of images runs overtime and achieves one frame. The system simulation result shows in this way the diver achieves higher efficiency than traditional ping-pong mode when dealing with the overtime-processing of images.
