By using newly developed CuNi5~25Ti16~28 B rapldly solidifled brazing filler the joining of Si3 N4/1.25cr-0.5Mo steel has been carried out with interlayer method. If employing the interlayer structure of steel (0.2 mm)/W (2.0 mm)/Ni(0.2 mm), the joint strength can be increased greatly compared with employing that of Ni/W/Ni, and the three point bend strength of the Joint shows the value of 261 MPa. The metallurgical behaviour at the interface between Si3N4 and the interlayer has been studied. It is found that Fe participated in the interfacial reactions between Si3N4 and the brazing filler at the Si3N4/steel (0.2 mm) interface and the compound Fe5Si3 was produced. However, since the reactions of Fe with the active Ti are weaker than those of Ni with Ti, the normal inter facial reactions were still assured at the interface of Si3N4/steel (0.2 mm) instead of Si3N4/Ni (0.2 mm), resulting in the improvement of the joint strength. The mechanism of the formation of Fe5Si3 is also discussed. Finally, some ideas to further ameliorate and simplify the interlayer structure are put forward.

By using EPR and magnetic susceptibility measurements, the cr ion distribution in the xcr2O3.(1-x)[70TeO2·25B2O3·5PbO] glasses with 0＜x≤20 mol% was studied. EPR investigation evidencedthe presence of cr3+ ions in agreement with the experimentally obtained atomic magnetic moment values. For concentrations x≤3 mol%, the isolated cr3+ ions coexist with those coupledby dipole-dipole interactions. For x＞3 mol%, the cr3+ ions participate in superexchange interactions and are predominantly antiferromagnetically coupled.

Simulations are performed on atom substitution behaviour in Ni75Al25−xcrx alloys based on a microscopic phase-field model at 873K. The ordering of both the Al and cr atoms takes place simultaneously, cr occupies both the Al and Ni sites with a preference for the Al sites, and cr and Al atoms together occupy the β -sites, and the complex γ' Ni3(Al1−xcrx) (L12 structure) phases are formed during the precipitation. At the ordering boundary of L12 phases, cr atoms occupy the Al sites, then Ni3cr phases are formed.

We perform a detailed investigation of the new ＇breathing＇ pyrochlore compound LiIncr4O8 through Rh substi- tution with measurements of magnetic susceptibility, specific heat, and x-ray powder diffraction. The antiferro- magnetic phase of LiIncr4O8 is found to be slowly suppressed with increasing Rh, up to the critical concentration of x = 0.1 where the antiferromagnetic phase is still observed with the peak in specific heat Tp = 12.5 K, slightly lower than Tp =14.3 K for the x = 0 compound. From tile measurements of magnetization we also uncover evidence that substitution increases the amount of frustration. Comparisons are made with the LiGayIn1-ycr4O8 system as well as other frustrated pyrochlore-related materials and comparable amounts of frustration are found. The results of this work show that the engineered breathing pyrochlores present an important method to further understand the complex magnetism in frustrated systems.

The luminescent properties of ZnSe, ZnSe：cr（0.05 at.% cr）, ZnSe：Yb（0.03 at.% Yb） and ZnSe：cr：Yb（0.05 at.% cr, 0.05 at.% Yb） crystals, doped during the growth process by the chemical vapor transport method, were studied within the temperature interval of 6–300 K. At the 6 K temperature in the visible spectral range 2 bands were observed： a band in the excitonic spectral region and a band of self-activated luminescence. It was shown that co-doping of zinc selenide crystals with the chromium and ytterbium led to the combination of the impurities influence on the photoluminescent properties. At the liquid helium temperature in the middle infrared range of the spectra of the ytterbium and chromium co-doped crystal a band with the maximum localized at 1.7μm was observed, which was overlapped with a complex band in the middle-IR spectral range, characteristic for the chromium doped ZnSe crystals. On the basis of obtained data an interaction mechanism of the chromium and ytterbium co-doping impurities was proposed. Guided by the existent model of the ytterbium ion incorporation in the selenide sublattice of the ZnSe crystals, an assumption about stabilization of single charged chromium ions in the zinc sublattice crystal nodes, by means of formation of the local charge compensating clusters, was made. It was assumed that the resonant energy transfer from one chromium ion to another,which led to the concentration quenching of the IR emission in the ZnSe：cr PL spectra, would lead to the broadening of the IR emission in the spectra of ytterbium and chromium co-doped zinc selenide crystals.g

Contamination of agricultural soils by heavy metals has become a major concern due to their toxic effects on plant growth,symbiosis and consequently the yields of crops. In the present study, to enhance plant growth in cr(VI)-amended soils, novel metalresistant plant growth-promoting bacteria(PGPB) were isolated from a soil contaminated with industrial waste effluent. One of the bacterial isolates, identified as Enterobacter sp. C1 D by 16 S r RNA gene sequencing, was found to be multi-metal resistant in nature with excellent plant growth-promoting(PGP) traits. Mung bean(Vigna radiata var. GM4) inoculation with Enterobacter sp.C1 D significantly(P creased root and shoot length, shoot and root weight, and chlorophyll content in a range of cr(VI)treatments. Plant tolerance towards cr(VI) measured as effective concentration showed higher values with Enterobacter sp. C1 Dtreated plants compared to un-inoculated plants. Root colonization study was also carried out using green fluorescence protein-labeled Enterobacter sp. C1 D under a hydroponic system. Confocal laser scanning microscopy of the plant roots showed heavy bacterial loads on the surface of the plant root specifically at the root tip and the point of root hair/lateral root formation. The results of PGP traits showed that elevated indole acetic acid levels and 1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate deaminase activity enabled Enterobacter sp. C1 D to enhance V. radiata growth in cr(VI)-amended soils, whereby it significantly increased plant tolerance towards elevated cr(VI) concentrations.
