JT-60SA is a fully superconducting coil tokamak upgraded from the JT-60U. This paper focused on the integrity of the top lid of cryostat in JT-60SA. The design requirement for the cryostat in normal operations is to achieve vacuum insulation of 10-1 Pa, and the top flange of the top lid is lightly welded onto its body flange. The weld is tensile-loaded by bending deformation of the top lid due to vacuum pressure of external 0.1 MPa. This weld integrity is evaluated with tensile-load reduction, which results in clamp reinforcement. The structural integrity of the top lid is validated.

Whole-cell clamped myoballs are placed into direct visible contact with the growth cones of isolated neurons in embryonic Xenopus culture to serve as probe of acetylchollne (AcCHo) release in order to determine whether these neurons are cholinergic or not. Using a GQ-seal, whole-cell recording method, the electrophysiological properties of these identified cholinergic neurons are studied. It is found that these embryonic neurons, like adult frog motor neurons, exhibit repetitive firings in a certain embryonic developing stage. A development of repetitive firings is observed simultaneously. Tracing the development of one neuron, we find that the development of repetitive firing is completed at the 48th h after fertilization. Tetrodotoxin (TTX) which blocks Na^+ channels can abolish all firings; and tetraethyl ammonium chloride (TEA), the blocker of K^+ channels, reverses this development, i. e. it makes the repetitive firings disappear again. These data show that the nature of the development of repetitive firings is the development of K^+ channels.

In this work, the main reasons for the breakage of 500 kV transmission line are studied. Under low temperature condition, the coverage of the ice results in the disconnection between the aluminum tube and the steel anchor of strain clamp. Using macroscopic analysis, structure stress analysis, force analysis and mechanical property test, the fractured strain clamps are investigated. The crimping of the aluminum tube on the polished rod not on the grooves of the steel anchor leads to the damage of the strain clamps, which is defined as improper crimping. When improper crimping emerges, there will be only friction force between the aluminum tube and the steel anchor without shear force, and the tension of the conductor will be mainly supported by the steel strands which should be supported by both the aluminum tube and steel stands. Therefore, the breaking force of the strain clamp will greatly decrease. The failure analysis helps to promote the proper hydraulic crimping process and the safe operation of the transmission line.

Depression and Insulin Resistance in Non-Diabetic Subjects: An Intervention Study with Insulin clamp Technique

This paper designed a hinged type beam clamping structure based on the characteristics of the Langevin-type transducer oscillator having obvious vibration *** corresponding motor stator was developed based on the previous U-shape type linear ultrasonic motor.A simple mechanical model of the structure was established to analyze the effects of spring stiffness on the normal pressure and tangential friction force at the contact *** results indicate that the output performance and stability of the motor reached a good state when the preload spring stiffness is sufficiently large and the preload is *** with the original arc clamping of the motors,the output force and speed of the motor were improved when the proposed hinged type beam clamping structure was *** maximum no-load speed reached 712mm/s that increased by 51.5%,and the maximum force reached 10N that increased by 11.1%.

Aims: To clarify the relationship between depression and glucose metabolism using sensitive measures of insulin resistance, and to assess if remission of depression results in enhanced insulin sensitivity. Methods: An intervention study to quantify changes in insulin sensitivity before and after treatment of depression was carried out. Twenty six Pakistani women with newly diagnosed depression underwent euglycemic insulin clamp to measure insulin sensitivity at inclusion and again after treatment of depression 6 - 8 weeks later. Twenty-three individuals completed both tests. Results: Significant improvement of insulin sensitivity was observed following the treatment of depression. The improved insulin sensitivity remained statistically significant after controlling for confounding factors. Conclusions: This study establishes a relationship between depression and insulin resistance. It demonstrated that insulin sensitivity can be improved by treating depression.

In this review we aimed to present the effects of clamp and shunt usage on vascular endothelium in coronary artery surgery under the light of current literature data. Each surgical team or even each surgeon uses different methods in order to create bloodless surgical site during beating heart surgical procedures. Every method has its own advantages and disadvantages. There is no formed consensus regarding this issue. Surgeons still want to operate on bloodless surgical fields. But, they have concerns about continuity of blood flow and vascular endothelial injury during off-pump coronary surgery. In order to achieve a consensus statement about this issue, multicentric larger studies are needed.

Feasibility and limitation of patch-clamp recordings on neonatal rat cardiac ventricular slices

To attempt to the feasibility of whole-cell patch-clamp recordings on the cardiac ventricular slices of newborn (P3-P7) Sprague-Dawley (S-D) rats and find a good substitute of the single cardiac myocytes with enzymatic treatment. High resistance seals (>1 GΩ) could be obtained in the cardiac ventricle tissue on this preparation without enzymatic treatment. Then, the cell-attached and whole-cell patch-clamp techniques can be achieved in the thin (200μm) cardiac slices. Averaged sodium current (n=ll cells) was recorded in cell-attached mode, displayed similar features to that previously reported from isolated rat ventricular myocytes. The outward potassium current, Hyperpolarization-activated cation channel or If channel (HCN channel) and action potential (AP) were recorded in whole-cell configuration (n=2 cells) and the similar properties can be seen from the cardiac slices. Cell-attached mode is a stable and reliable mode to record the ion treatment. Resting potential for cardiac slice, measured from Current-clamp recording in whole-cell mode, is about -50 - - 70 mV. The resting potential value from the cardiac slice has similar property except that it is positive to the isolated cardiomyocytes by enzymes. Application of patch-clamp techniques to cardiac slices allows single channel recordings without complicated procedures of cell isolation. Moreover, possible alteration of channel properties caused by proteolytic enzymes can be avoided. In this paper, whole-cell patch-clamp recordings could be achieved on the cardiac slice and we affirmed the feasibility and values of the both recording modes on it. At the same time, there is difficulty and limitation of the application of whole-cell patch-clamp on the cardiac slice for the existence of large mount of connective tissue even in the newborn rats.
