Objective: To study maternal mortality in the obstetrics and gynecology department at Yalgado Ouedraogo teaching Hospital Center. Patients and Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional retrospective and descriptive study of 181 cases of maternal deaths during study period. The parameters studied were sociodemographic characteristics, the causes of death, the clinical data and the contributing factors. Results: The maternal mortality ratio was 2624 per 100,000 live births. The mean age of death was 26.79 with extremes of 15 years to 40 years. Direct obstetric causes accounted for 58% dominated by hypertension and complications, hemorrhage during pregnancy and postpartum, and obstetric infections. The indirect obstetric causes were 42% dominated by non-obstetric infections and chronic anemias. In addition to the delay in consultation and delay in care, the lack of antenatal care was the contributing factor to maternal deaths. Conclusion: Maternal mortality remains a public health problem in view of its high ratio. The reduction of this scourge will inevitably go through a health insurance that will allow the supply of quality care.

Summary: Estimate the incidence of endometrial hyperplasia according to socio-demographic parameters and the type of lesions histological. Methodology: This was a retrospective, and 15-year descriptive study from January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2014 conducted at the Department of Anatomy and Pathological Cytology of the National Hospital Donka in collaboration with the obstetric gynecology departments of the Conakry University Hospital. Results: We collected 296 cases of malignant and benign endometrial hyperplasia in 15 years, accounting for 37% of all endometrial biopsy curettages examined. The age group 47 to 56 years was the most affected (81 cases) or 27, 36%. The mean age was 53.6 years with extremes of 27 and 83 years. Metrorrhagia was the main reason for consultation (206 cases), i.e. 69.59%. The suspicion of endometrial hyperplasia by physicians was the most frequently diagnosed circumstance (149 cases) or 50.33%. Biopsy curettage was the most frequently used method (176 cases), is 59.45%. Histological endometrial lesions of atypical complex adenomatous hyperplasia (79 cases) represented 26.69%. Benign behavior was most frequently observed in (235 cases) or 79.39%. Conclusion: Endometrial hyperplasia is an endometrial lesion whose atypical histological types represent the borderline lesions between benignity and malignancy.

Introduction: The chronic nephropathies constitute a real global public health concern due to the constant increase in the prevalence estimated between 10% and 15%. In Sub-Saharan Africa, this prevalence has been estimated at 13.9%. This study will allow knowing the epidemiological, clinical, paraclinical and etiological aspects of chronic kidney disease in the internal medicine department of chu-SO Lomé. Method: This was a cross-sectional, retrospective and descriptive study. It concerned all the patients suffering from a chronic kidney disease, hospitalized between the 1st of January 2014 and the 31st of December 2018, for a duration of 5 years. Results: During our study, 330 cases of chronic nephropathy were identified. The prevalence of chronic kidney disease was 8.3% of admissions. The mean age of the patients was 46.3 years with extremes of 19 and 86 years and a sex ratio of 1.32. A low socio-economic level of patients was observed in 63.9% with an urban origin in 69.7%. The main risk factors for renal impairment were hypertension (55.2%), diabetes mellitus (29.1%), obesity (20.6%), use of nephrotoxic products (19.4%), HIV infection (17%) and smoking (16.1%). The causes were dominated by nephroangiosclerosis (33.3%), followed by diabetic nephropathy (25.5%) and HIV-associated nephropathy (17%). Chronic renal failure was present in 95.8% of cases and was end stage in 69.7% of cases. Anemia was the main complication during the evolution of chronic kidney disease (98.2%). Mortality was 57.3% during hospitalization. Conclusion: Chronic kidney disease is a fairly common reason for hospitalization in the internal medicine department. Emphasis should therefore be placed on preventive measures for hypertension, diabetes and HIV.

Shaw Brothers (Hong Kong) Limited and its films have a wide range of influence around the world. In the contemporary era, the communication of the Shaw costume films, emphasises the humanity’s classical appeal and invisible revival motivation. Also, it puts great emphasis on the trend from heroic monologue to discourse equality. The essay focuses on the aesthetic style and cultural connotation of the costume swordsman martial arts films directed by Zhang Che and chu Yuan, revealing how the combination of the cultural psychology and Shaw’s management model have jointly accomplished Shaw’s films’ glorious time for decades in Hong Kong. Furthermore, it proves that how the cultural mentality of the martial arts “King of the Forerunner” has affected the transformation and development of Shaw Brothers, and how the status of costume martial arts films were changed in contemporary communication.
