Three-dimensional Topological Model of Nd-Fe-B Ternary Phase Diagram and Its Vertical Sections

A three-dimensional partially metrized topological model of the Nd-Fe-B ternary phase diagram has been established based on experimental results assessed comprehensively with the aid of a computer-aided design and graphics software. Auto cad.(R10) and application programs developed in this work. Vertical sections at 5.88 at.％ B, Nd:B=2:1, Fe-Nd_2Fe_(14)B-Nd_2 Nd_2Fe_(17)-Nd_2Fe_(14)B-Nd_2Fe_7B_6 have been cut out from the model and the corresponding phase relationships have been analyzed. Among them those on the Nd-rich portions of both the sections at 5.88 at.％ B and Nd:B=2:1 and those on the Nd_2Fe_(14)B-Nd section are given for the first time.

Computer Aided Design of Grinding Wheel for Drill Flute Production

Twist drill flute profile design is necessary in order to determine the required grinding wheel profile for a flute production. An accurate drill flute profile design is generated for two-flute conical twist drills using analytical equations to generate a drill flute profile design needed for the production of twist drills with straight lips. The required grinding wheel profile for a flute production was expressed in digitized form as well as in terms of two curve-fitted circular arcs. The drill flute profile geometry can never be precisely generated when required grinding wheel profile is represented by two circular arcs and the generated flute profile is just a very good approximation of the design flute profile. A cad.（computer aided design） software has been developed using MATLAB to determine the required grinding wheel profile for generating a given drill flute profile design.

＜正＞C-curves are developed by using the basis{ sin t, cost, t, 1}by Zhang [1, 2], Pottmann and’Wagner [6], and itovercomes some shortcomings of the non-uniform rational B-splines （NURBS） model. For example, it can represent exactly transcendental curves such as the helix and the cycloid. So, how to develop C-curve into surface becomes a very important problem. In [2], tensor product quadrilateral patches have been constructed using C-curves. In this paper, a method for constructing C1 triangular patch using C-curves is presented by using the side-vertex method proposed by Nielson [5]. The constructed triangular patch interpolates the positions and the first derivatives of boundary composite C-Bezier curves.
