The present study was designed to evaluate the antibacterial activity and cytotoxicity of the endophytes isolated from Scapania verrucosa Heeg.,which belongs to the class of 1 iverworts.A total of 49 endophytic fung i were isolated from ***,classified into seven genera and one family in our previous *** this study,the cytotoxic activity of the e ndophytes w as a ssessed us ing t he bri ne s hrimp 1 ethality bi oassay,a nd s even o f w hich s howed pot ent toxicity against the brine shrimp with Lc values less than 20μg/mL.T-30 was found to be the most toxic with a Lc value of 7.15μg/***,T-27 was shown to exhibit strongest antibacterial activity against staphylococcus aureus with MIcs less than 0.25 mg/mL and 4 m g/mL,which can inhibit the growth of two standard strains *** 25923 (MSSA) and ATcc 43300(MRSA) in a time dependent manner,*** results suggested that the endophytes in *** might s erve as a po tential s ource for produc tion of na tural bi oactive produc ts,t hus w arranted furt her investigation.
