The use of low thermal conductivity materials plays an important role in the construction of energy-efficient buildings. Indeed, the improvement of the thermal properties of building walls reduces energy consumption. This study aims to determine the thermal and energy balances of a building enveloped with Typha australis on the one hand, and a building without Typha on the other hand (a building constructed with conventional materials) using the commercial software Visual TTH. The results of the heat loss calculations show that the Typha building is 62% more efficient than the conventional building. Also, the studies on air-conditioning needs resulted in energy savings of 1577.136 kWh per year for the Typha building, i.e. 1219 kg per year of CO2 avoided in the air according to the SENELEC emission factor 0.773/MWh in Senegal.

The publication of ISO 15686-5 is significant for studies related to the life-cycle costs of buildings. Among the many economic evaluation methods, the NPV method is recommended for use by this standard. This study explains the concept and method of PV, and then provides an explanation of the concept and method of NPV, and points out the limitations in the practical application of the method.

A new metal-organic framework (MOF),{[Zn_7 (BPS)_4 (OH)_6 (H_2O)_2]·5 H_2O]_n}(1), (H_2 BPS=4,4′-bibenzoic acid-2,2′-sulfone), based on a wavy and infinite chain-shaped secondary building units, has been synthesized under solvothermal conditions and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction and further confirmed by PXRD, TGA and IR spectrum. The solid-state emission spectra reveal that compound 1 presents strong luminescence emission bands at room temperature. The fluorescent properties of compound 1 in diverse organic solvents indicated that 1 has palpable luminescent sense effects for DMF and DMAC.

Five transition metal coordination polymers,{[Cu(4-pmntd)2(NO3)2]·2CHCl3}n (1),{[Cu(4-pmntd)2(NO3)2]· 3C7H8}n (2),{[Cu(4-pmntd)2(CF3SO3)(H2O)]·CF3SO3·H2O·CH3OH}n (3),[Cd(4-pmntd)2]n·nSiF6·x(CH3OH)· y(CHCl3)(4), and [Zn(4-pmntd)2(CF3SO3)2]n·x(solvent)(5), have been obtained from a ditopic ligand, N,N'-bis(4-pyridylmethyl)naphthalene diimide (4-pmntd). Either sql-or dia-structures are generated from four connecting coordination nodes of the metal centers. While delicate interpenetration and structural tuning in these complexes is achieved by the different conformations and spatially extending geometries adopted by the ligand and"secondary building process"induced by pillar-like anions.

Nowadays,the world is short of energy source,and larger proportion of building energy consumption is occupied by air conditioning system. It is urgent that not only importance should be attached on energy saving but also arcology energy technology based on green and sustainable thought should be advocated. Considering the ever growing energy consumption of residential buildings,intermittent ventilation is a solution to saving energy consumption and improving indoor thermal comfort. Aiming at reducing indoor air temperature by intermittent ventilation and decrease energy consumption of air conditioning system,with the help of DeST (Designer's Simulation Toolkit) this paper analyzes the characteristics of air conditioning load and year round air conditioning time in Chongqing located in hot summer and cold winter zone,obtains the amount of energy consumption saved at different ventilation rates,and recommends suitable ventilation rate in hot summer and cold winter zone.

Background Three-dimensional(3D)building models with unambiguous roof plane geometry parameters,roof structure units,and linked topology provide essential data for many applications related to human activities in urban *** task of 3D reconstruction from point clouds is still in the development phase,especially the recognition and interpretation of roof topological *** This study proposes a novel visual perception-based approach to automatically decompose and reconstruct building point clouds into meaningful and simple parametric structures,while the associated mutual relationships between the roof plane geometry and roof structure units are expressed by a hierarchical topology ***,a roof plane extraction is performed by a multi-label graph cut energy optimization framework and a roof structure graph(RSG)model is then constructed to describe the roof topological geometry with common adjacency,symmetry,and convexity ***,a progressive roof decomposition and refinement are performed,generating a hierarchical representation of the 3D roof structure ***,a visual plane fitted residual or area constraint process is adopted to generate the RSG model with different levels of *** Two airborne laser scanning datasets with different point densities and roof styles were tested,and the performance evaluation metrics were obtained by International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing,achieving a correctness and accuracy of 97.7%and 0.29m,*** The standardized assessment results demonstrate the effectiveness and robustness of the proposed approach,showing its ability to generate a variety of structural models,even with missing data.

Integrated building Envelope Design Process Combining Parametric Modelling and Multi-Objective Optimization

As an important element in sustainable building design, the building envelope has been witnessing a constant shift in the design approach. Integrating multi-objective optimization(MOO) into the building envelope design process is very promising, but not easy to realize in an actual project due to several factors, including the complexity of optimization model construction, lack of a dynamic-visualization capacity in the simulation tools and consideration of how to match the optimization with the actual design process. To overcome these difficulties, this study constructed an integrated building envelope design process(IBEDP) based on parametric modelling, which was implemented using Grasshopper platform and interfaces to control the simulation software and optimization algorithm. A railway station was selected as a case study for applying the proposed IBEDP, which also utilized a grid-based variable design approach to achieve flexible optimum fenestrations. To facilitate the stepwise design process, a novel strategy was proposed with a two-step optimization, which optimized various categories of variables separately. Compared with a one-step optimization,though the proposed strategy performed poorly in the diversity of solutions, the quantitative assessment of the qualities of Pareto-optimum solution sets illustrates that it is superior.

In our opinions,visualization is only a part of 313 city model, while interactive operation about buildings is rather important as well. In order to implement interactive operation (create , edit, query,etc. ), good data structure and model must be developed.
