Complete Mitochondrial Genome Analysis of Daphniopsis tibetana(branchiopoda:Diplostraca):New Insights into the Taxonomy of the Genus and Its Phylogenetic Implications for branchiopoda

Daphniopsis tibetana is widely distributed in Xinjiang,Qinghai,Tibet of China,as well as in Russia and India,which is the dominant zooplankton in many high-altitude(4000 m)salt *** can adapt to saline waters,whereas the other species of the superorder Cladocera can only inhabit in ***,the phylogenetic status of *** in branchiopoda remains unclear primarily because of limited *** this study,complete mitochondrial genome sequences of *** were sequenced and annotated for the first time to obtain a comprehensive understanding of its phylogenetic *** complete mitogenome of *** is 16196 bp in *** contains 37 genes,including two ribosomal RNAs(12S and 16S rRNAs)genes,22 transfer RNA(tRNA)genes,13 protein-coding genes,and one non-coding *** overall base composition is 29.6%A,33.2%T,19.0%G,and 18.2%C with a high AT bias(62.8%).Except for trnS1(GCT),most tRNAs have a typical cloverleaf secondary *** analysis based on maximum likelihood and Bayesian inference generates identical phylogenetic topology and shows the phylogenetic status of ***,which reconfirm the distinction between the genera Daphniopsis and ***,the class branchiopoda is clustered into three clades(Anostraca,Notostraca,and Diplostraca)with high support *** results provide not only a comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of *** mitogenome and its phylogenetic position in Diplostraca,but also information for future research on the phylogeny of branchiopoda.

Two New“Notostracans”,Chenops *** Jeholops ***. (Crustacea:branchiopoda:?Notostraca) from the Yixian Formation,Northeastern China

The Early Cretaceous Jehol biota of northeastern China contains a diverse group of notostracans, including two genera, Chenops and Jeholops, described here. Chenops is characterized by a combination of an ovate carapace, narrow anal plate, equant distal endites and endopod on the anterior thoracic limbs. In addition to the new species, Chenops yixianensis, the genus also provisionally includes Prolepidurus oblongus Oleynikov, 1968. Jeholops, however, is monotypic, represented by the new species Jeholops hongi. It is characterized by a combination of kazacharthran and notostracan features unique to this taxon. Both new genera are provisionally placed in the taxon Notostraca. More detailed work exploring the morphology of exceptionally-preserved branchiopod crustaceans is needed. The difficulties in placing fossil notostracans into a phylogenetie framework are discussed.

Tadpole Shrimps-A General Review of the Little Known Crustaceans of Ephemeral Waterbodies

In time of global climate changes,astatic inland water reservoirs that contribute to water retention and alleviation of adverse effects of periodic river floods,are getting more and more ***,periodically drying off water reservoirs are also rich hubs of *** especially connected to such ecosystems are primitive but unique crustaceans called tadpole shrimps(order Notostraca).Those animals seem to have universal significance-both ecological and *** their primitive morphology and small size,they can radically affect the nature of their habitats,sometimes even helping us fight with noxious ***,due to progressing global warming,intensification in agriculture,and urbanisation,habitats of notostracans are disappearing ***,because of their rare occurences and taxonomic difficulties,tadpole shrimps have been insufficiently ***,protection of these crustaceans is inseparably connected with conservation of once numerous,periodically drying reservoirs as tadpole shrimps are referred as keystone species of such ***,the aim of this review article is to sum up and disseminate current state of knowledge about Notostraca by a general overview of available international *** might help to engage more scientists into research and conservation of these little known,yet interesting crustaceans and their unique habitats.
