This work deals with an application in parametric modeling of problems regarding pipelines buried in static system, written in C＋＋ using ObjectARX functions. The application is fully integrated with AutoCAD through *** and *** libraries where the stages of pre-processing, processing and post-processing are done in AutoCAD sotlware environment itself without having to export data to another processing environment. The analysis processing is done by functions whose algorithms are based on the solution of the coupling between the FEM （finite element method） and the BEM （boundary element method）. The representation of the homogeneous pipeline is made by the FEM using a finite element in the form of a cylindrical panel called CYS （cylindrical shell）, developed from the homogeneous isotropic model proposed initially by Djoudi Bahai, who uses the philosophy of the assumed deformation model （assumed strain based model）. The soil is taken to be a continuum infinite or semi-infinite elastic solid patterned by BEM where special boundary elements are proposed with curved surface or curved edges to represent the soil-structure interaction mainly in the areas of contact with the pipeline.

BEM/FDM Conjugate Heat Transfer Analysis of a Two-dimensional Air-cooled Turbine Blade boundary Layer

A coupled boundary element method （BEM） and finite difference method （FDM） are applied to solve conjugate heat transfer problem of a two-dimensional air-cooled turbine blade boundary layer. A loosely coupled strategy is adopted, in which each set of field equations is solved to provide boundary conditions for the other. The Navier-Stokes equations are solved by HIT-NS code. In this code, the FDM is adopted and is used to resolve the convective heat transfer in the fluid region. The BEM code is used to resolve the conduction heat transfer in the solid region. An iterated convergence criterion is the continuity of temperature and heat flux at the fluid-solid interface. The numerical results from the BEM adopted in this paper are in good agreement with the results of analytical solution and the results of commercial code, such as Fluent 6.2. The BEM avoids the complicated mesh needed in other computation method and saves the computation time. The results prove that the BEM adopted in this paper can give the same precision in numerical results with less boundary points. Comparing the conjugate results with the numerical results of an adiabatic wall flow solution, it reveals a significant difference in the distribution of metal temperatures. The results from conjugate heat transfer analysis are more accurate and they are closer to realistic thermal environment of turbines.

EXPONENTIAL MESH APPROXIMATIONS FOR A 3D EXTERIOR PROBLEM IN MAGNETIC INDUCTION

A numerical method combining the approaches of C.I. Goldstein and L.-A. Ying is used for the simulation in three-dimensional magnetostatics related to an exterior problem in magnetic induction. Recently introduced, this method is based on the use of a graded mesh obtained by gluing homothetic layers in the exterior domain and has been performed in the case of edge element discretizations. In this work, the theoretical and practical aspects of the method are inspected in the case of face element and volume element discretizations,for computing a magnetic induction. Error estimates, implementations, and numerical results are provided.

The multi- layers feedforward neural network is used for inversion ofmaterial constants of fluid-saturated porous media. The direct analysis of fluid-saturated porousmedia is carried out with the boundary element method. The dynamic displacement responses obtainedfrom direct analysis for prescribed material parameters constitute the sample sets training neuralnetwork. By virtue of the effective L-M training algorithm and the Tikhonov regularization method aswell as the GCV method for an appropriate selection of regu-larization parameter, the inversemapping from dynamic displacement responses to material constants is performed. Numerical examplesdemonstrate the validity of the neural network method.

This paper presents a new boundary integral equatiòn for two- dimensional elasticity with the stress component σ_(ij)t_it_j as one of the boundary values, where t_i is the direction cosine of the tangent on the *** form of BEM has an advantage in that the stress component σ_(ij)t_it_j on the boundary can be calculated directly from the numerical *** present formulation for plane problems uses two kernels,the one is logarithmically singular and the other is 1/r *** effectiveness of the approach is also discussed through test examples.

Static Analysis of Buried Pipes Using Coupling between Layerwise Finite Element and boundary Element Method

This work deals with the analysis of soil-structure interaction modeling of pipeline problems in static behavior using the coupling between FEM （finite element method） and BEM （boundary element method）. The representation of the pipe is made by MEF using one fmite element in the cylindrical panel formulated from the theory of equivalent discrete layers （Layerwise theory）, proposed by J. N. Reddy. The soil is represented by elastic continum infimite or semi-infinite and modeled using boundary elements with special curved surface, associated with cylindrical panel used to represent the soil-structure interaction within the soil, especially at the contact surface with the pipe.
