Coupling two-dimention carbon materials like graphene on photodelectrode can achieve high-efficiency photoelectrochemical cells.bottom-up synthesis of carbon-based two-dimensional materials in green media from simple molecules is very attractive but remains a challenge.Carbohydrate is an ideal precursor for the synthesis but previous report requires pyrolysis at high temperature(>700℃).Herein,starting with glucose,we develop a low temperature(210℃)synthesis of carbonaceous nanosheets in aqueous solution of glucose.With the aid of ethylenediamine and Fe3+/Fe27Co27Ni2+ions,the nanosheets can grow on hematite nanorod array with very close contact.Importantly,a metallic region is formed at the interface due to atom distribution distortion,which can promote the charge transfer.The activity can be greatly enhanced by about 500%due to fast charge transfer.This is much better than that prepared by physically or chemically mixing graphene and hematite(bottom-up method.

This article describes the practice of co-evolutionary and transformative resilience through a case study con-ducted in Turin(Italy).According to a broad definition,resilience includes performing actions of urban design and planning,innovating community-based project procedures,and creating positive financial outcomes that are assessable because of the monitoring process of short-and long-term outcomes and impacts.Through the Turin-based case of the bottom up!Architecture Festival,this article observes processes in which resilience is in action in metropolitan areas,feeding urban projects and practices of self-organization of the social and financial actors involved.By applying the definition of community projects,the festival manages to take territorial problems and crises(the pandemic,inequality,etc.)and view them as an opportunity to change the system,recommending in-tegrated action on the natural,cultural,financial,and social capital,innovating practices and holding society and institutions more accountable.The transformation of spaces relies on collaborations between social and institu-tional actors,operating spatially concentrated transformations in the city of Turin,and using flexible governance tools based on co-planning and crowdfunding for project design and financing.

The application of environment-behavior studies plays an important role in studying the renewal of shantytowns.One of the most humane ways of renewal is designing and constructing the necessary urban spatial environment from the perspective of human daily behavior.Most of the shantytown renovation projects currently carried out in China are mainly focused on demolition and reconstruction,which not only incurs high costs but also damages the original social structure and economic model.During the process of shantytown renewal,it should improve the urban landscape,living environment,and life quality of residents,and ensure the daily life of shantytown residents without increasing their economic burden,and preserve the traces of urban development.In order to achieve this goal,it should explore the renewal strategies of shantytowns from the perspective of environment-behavior studies through behavior maps,on-site research,and literature review.updating and design from a human perspective often achieve faster and better development;the renewal of shantytowns should be a bottom-up approach and start from a grassroots perspective,completing the renovation design through the composition of the population and behavioral patterns.

The recent advancements in thermoelectric materials are largely credited to two factors,namely established physical theories and advanced materials engineering methods.The developments in the physical theories have come a long way from the“phonon glass electron crystal”paradigm to the more recent band convergence and nanostructuring,which consequently results in drastic improvement in the thermoelectric figure of merit value.On the other hand,the progresses in materials fabrication methods and processing technologies have enabled the discovery of new physical mechanisms,hence further facilitating the emergence of high-performance thermoelectric materials.In recent years,many comprehensive review articles are focused on various aspects of thermoelectrics ranging from thermoelectric materials,physical mechanisms and materials process techniques in particular with emphasis on solid state reactions.While bottom-up approaches to obtain thermoelectric materials have widely been employed in thermoelectrics,comprehensive reviews on summarizing such methods are still rare.In this review,we will outline a variety of bottom-up strategies for preparing high-performance thermoelectric materials.In addition,state-of-art,challenges and future opportunities in this domain will be commented.

Constructing specific structures from the bottom up with artificial units is an important interdisciplinary topic involving physics,chemistry,materials,and so on.In this work,we theoretically demonstrated the feasibility of using superatoms as building blocks to assemble a complex at atomic-level precision.By using a series of actinide-based endohedral metallofullerene(EMF)superatoms that can form one,two,three and four chemical bonds,a planar complex with intra-and inter-molecular interactions was assembled on the Au(111)surface.This complex is composed of two parts,containing ten and eight superatoms,respectively.The electronic structure analysis shows that the electron density inside each part is connected and the closed-shell electronic arrangement system is designed.There is also an obvious van der Waals boundary by physical adsorption between the two parts,and a stable complex is formed.Since this complex is realized by the first-principles calculations of quantum mechanics,our results help not only achieve atomic-level precision construction with artificial superatomic units but also maintain atomic-level functional properties.

Filling high aspect ratio through silicon vias （TSVs） without voids and seams by copper plating is one of the technical challenges for 3D integration. bottom-up copper plating is an effective solution for TSV filling. In this paper, a new numerical model was developed to simulate the electrochemical deposition （ECD） process, and the influence of an accelerator in the electrolyte was investigated. The arbitrary Lagrange-Eulerian （ALE） method for solving moving boundaries in the finite element method （FEM） was used to simulate the electrochemical process. In the model, diffusion coefficient and adsorption coefficient were considered, and then the time-resolved evolution of electroplating profiles was simulated with ion concentration distribution and the electric current density.

A new algorithm for bottom-up saliency estimation is proposed.Based on the sparse coding model,a power spectral filter is proposed to eliminate the second-order residual correlation,which suppresses the global repeated items effectively.In addition,aiming at modeling the mechanism of the human retina prior response to high-contrast stimuli,the effect of color context is considered.Experiments on the three publicly available databases and some psychophysical images show that the proposed model is comparable with the state-of-the-art saliency models,which not only highlights the salient objects in a complex environment but also pops up them uniformly.

Detailed research on China's CO_(2) emission pathway of the 2030 peak and 2060 carbon neutrality goals is fundamental to promote China's climate change action.Previous studies on emission pathways have been based on long-term emission data or model analyses.However,few studies have achieved synergy and pathway optimization at both the micro and macro levels or focused on China's 2060 carbon neutrality goal,making it difficult to support the systematic management of national and regional emission pathways.In this study,we developed an integrated CO_(2) emission pathway model,the Chinese Academy of Environmental Planning Carbon Pathways 1.2 model,under China's climate change goals.Our pathway coupled the top-down and bottom-up approaches and conducted optimization analysis under social fairness and optimal cost conditions.The results provide a clear CO_(2) emission pathway and offer insights for implementing fine management of CO_(2) emissions at the national,regional,sectoral,and spatial gridded levels.

Two-dimensional(2D)materials are regarded as promising candidates in many applications,including electronics and optoelectronics,because of their superior properties,including atomic-level thickness,tunable bandgaps,large specific surface area,and high carrier mobility.In order to bring 2D materials from the laboratory to industrialized applications,materials preparation is the first prerequisite.Compared to the n-type analogs,the family of p-type 2D semiconductors is relatively small,which limits the broad integration of 2D semiconductors in practical applications such as complementary logic circuits.So far,many efforts have been made in the preparation of p-type 2D semiconductors.In this review,we overview recent progresses achieved in the preparation of p-type 2D semiconductors and highlight some promising methods to realize their controllable preparation by following both the top-down and bottom-up strategies.Then,we summarize some significant application of p-type 2D semiconductors in electronic and optoelectronic devices and their superiorities.In end,we conclude the challenges existed in this field and propose the potential opportunities in aspects from the discovery of novel p-type 2D semiconductors,their controlled mass preparation,compatible engineering with silicon production line,high-κdielectric materials,to integration and applications of p-type 2D semiconductors and their heterostructures in electronic and optoelectronic devices.Overall,we believe that this review will guide the design of preparation systems to fulfill the controllable growth of p-type 2D semiconductors with high quality and thus lay the foundations for their potential application in electronics and optoelectronics.
