Clinical Observation on Scraping the bladder meridian for Prevention and Treatment of Bronchial Asthma

Objective： To observe the clinical effects of scraping method for preventing and treating bronchial asthma. Method： Thirty-eight cases were treated with scraping method on the bladder meridian once every 10-12 d, by follow up once every half a year, for 3 years continuously. The mean frequency of asthma acute attack was recorded every year. Result： The annual frequency of acute attack of asthma before scraping method was （2.3±1.3） times on average, and reduced to （0.6±0.4） times after scraping therapy. Conclusion： Scraping therapy can effectively prevent the attack of bronchial asthma.

Effects of different directions of moxibustion therapy on hemorheology in rats with blood stasis due to cold retention

Objective： To investigate the effects of different directions of moxibustion therapy on hemorheology in rat models with blood stasis due to cold retention. Methods： A total of 32 Wistar rats were randomly divided into 4 groups, based on the random digits table, including a normal group, a model group, a moxibustion along the meridian group, and a moxibustion against the meridian group, with 8 rats in each group. Except the normal group, the other 3 groups were used to make the rat models with blood stasis due to cold retention. Rats in the moxibustion along and against the meridian groups accepted moxibustion therapy in different directions on the trunk segment of the bladder meridian after successful modeling. Moxibustion for 10 min every day, and 7 d as a course of treatment. Two courses of treatment（a total of 14 d） were carried out. Quantitative score of signs and symptoms change was observed once a week, with a total of 7 times. Hemorheological indexes of rats were detected when the treatment finished. Results： The quantitative scores of signs and symptoms in the model, moxibustion along the meridian and against the meridian groups were significantly higher than those in the normal group after modeling（P〈0.05）. When the treatment finished, the quantitative score of signs and symptoms in the model group was significantly higher than that in the normal group（P〈0.05）; the quantitative scores of signs and symptoms of rats in the moxibustion along and against the meridian groups were significantly lower than that in the model group（P〈0.05）; the quantitative score of signs and symptoms in the moxibustion along the meridian group was significantly lower than that in the moxibustion against the meridian group（P〈0.05）; the whole blood viscosity and erythrocyte aggregation index in the model group were significantly higher than those in the normal group（P〈0.05）, however the increases of erythrocyte hematocrit and erythrocyte sedimentation rate were not obvious（P〈0.05）; w

Clinical observation of moving cupping on the back for patients with chronic fatigue syndrome-related sleep disorders

Objective: To observe the clinical efficacy of moving cupping on the back for patients with chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)-related sleep disorders. Methods: A total of 60 patients with CFS-related sleep disorders were randomized into a control group and an observation group, with 30 cases in each group. The control group was treated with oral administration of fluoxetine hydrochloride capsule. The observation group was treated with moving cupping on the back, once every other day. The efficacy was observed after 4 weeks of treatment. The fatigue scale-14 (FS-14) and Pittsburgh sleep quality index (PSQI) were assessed before and after the treatment to evaluate the clinical efficacy. Results: The total effective rate was 93.3% in the observation group, and 73.3% in the control group. The difference between the two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). After treatment, the improvement of physical fatigue value, mental fatigue value, and the total score of FS-14 in the observation group were statistically different from those in the control group (all P<0.05). The scores of subjective sleep quality, sleep latency, habitual sleep efficiency, use of sleeping medication, daytime dysfunction of PSQI and the total score in the observation group were improved more significantly than those in the control group (all P<0.05). Conclusion: Moving cupping on the back can significantly improve sleep disorders in CFS patients, and it has a better curative effect than oral fluoxetine hydrochloride capsules.

Clinical Observation on Effects of Scraping Therapy for Headache Due to Common Cold

Objective： To observe the real-time effect of scraping therapy for headache due to common cold. Methods： Forty-five patients with headache caused by cold were included to receive scraping therapy, and asked to take hot water and a good rest after treatment. Visual Analog Scale （VAS） score was recorded before and after the scraping treatment. The patients were visited again at the second day to inspect the development of the disease, including whether the headache was relapsed or aggravated; how long it was between the relapse or aggravation and the scraping treatment; patients＇ behavior after the scraping treatment. Result： The VAS score ofpre-treatment was 6.45±1.95, and it was 1.43±0.65 after treatment. The results had statistical significance. In the revisit among the 45 patients, there were 39 patients whose headache didn＇t relapsed or aggravated. For the left 6 patients who got relapsed or aggravated headache, researcher found that they did not follow the doctor＇s order well. Conclusion： Scraping therapy has obvious real-time effect on headache caused by cold. However, whether the patients can follow the doctor＇s advice is a key factor in the relapse of headache.
