OBJECTIVE: To observe the clinical efficacy of Lidan Tuihuang formula combined with Peifeikang and blue light irradiation in the treatment of neonatal jaundice. METHODS: a total of 140 cases of neonatal jaundice were randomly divided into the observation group and the control group, with 70 cases in each group. The control group was treated with blue light irradiation and oral bifid Lriple Viable, on the basis of conventional clinical interventions. The observation group was treated with Lidan Tuihuang formula on the basis of the control group. After 7 days of treatment, the scores of clinical symptom(skin yellowness, reduced milk volume, constipation, abdominal distension) and level of serum bilirubin before and after treatment were compared between the two groups, and the adverse reactions and clinical recurrence of the 2 groups were statistically analyzed. Our patient presented with a double femoral head, that is, two separate heads with individual epiphyses, but a single contiguous metaphysis. Two similar cases had been described in the literature. The only common feature in these three cases is that they had open reduction for Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH) through an anterior approach. No other pathology was detected in these patients. A rabbit model was created in which the cartilaginous anlage of the rabbit femoral head was surgically split. After 2-4 weeks a bifid femoral head developed, mimicking that described in the literature. We suggest that inadvertent damage to the femoral head during surgery for DDH may in fact lead to the development of a bifid femoral head. Prior history of DDH should be considered when the isolated bifid femoral head is identified.

Background: Median cleft of mandible and lower lip is a rare anomaly [1]. Only a few cases have been reported in literature with different variations till now. Herein we report a patient with Tessier 30 cleft associated with complete duplication of tongue. Aim: We herein report this rare variant as it posed special challenges for its management by virtue of its uniqueness, late presentation and limited affordability of patient for standard treatment. Case Report: A 12 years old female reported to us with a chief complaint of a midline gap in the lower lip and mandible since birth. On examination under anaesthesia, we found that tongue was not bifid. There was complete duplication of the tongue. The case was planned for staged repair of the defect. In the same sitting, a repair of the soft tissues in the midline was performed. Conclusion: There are no specific guidelines in literature for management of such cases. This makes all these cases worth for reporting in order to guide treating surgeons.

AIM: To gather existing radiographic classifications of mandibular canals branching, considering the criteria on which these were based.METHODS: The search for studies on mandibular canals based on imaging exams included literature reviews, epidemiological studies of prevalence, descriptive studies, or case reports. An electronic search in the MEDLINE(Ovid SP), Pub Med, EMBASE(Ovid SP), Web of Science(Thompson Reuters), and Scopus(Elsevier) databases was performed, as well as a manual evaluation of the references of the selected articles. Combinations of key words were placed in each database. No restrictions were imposed regarding the year of publication or language. References collected in duplicate were removed by the authors. A table was drawn up, containing the included studies and respective interest data.RESULTS: Six classifications of mandibular canals branching were selected for the present literature review. Four were based on two-dimensional radiographic exams, and two were performed based on threedimensional tomographic exams. Three-dimensional classifications were determined based on the analysis found in the least number of exams, comparatively to two-dimensional studies. The prevalence of mandibular canal branching varied from 0% to 38.75% in the works based on two-dimensional exams, while those found inthree-dimensional exams ranged from 15.6% to 65%. The studies were mostly referred to branches that began in the mandibular ramus. Just one classification considered the branches that began in the mandibular body region.CONCLUSION: Three-dimensional exams appear to be the best method to view mandibular canal branching. Further studies are warranted to determine its true prevalence and questions concerning to associations.
