Weed management has been a concern throughout the world’s history. Using herbicides is one of the most effective ways to manage weeds and preserve crop quality and yields. Protoporphyrinogen oxidase（PPO, EC 1.***.3.4） inhibitory herbicides are among the most widely used herbicides in the crop fields around the world. These herbicides can inhibit the PPO in planta, which is the penultimate enzyme in the biosynthesis of chlorophyll. In continuation of our search for potent PPO inhibitors, we designed and synthesized a series of novel herbicidal cycloalka[d]quinazoline-2,4-dione-benzoxazinones. The bioassay results of these synthesized compounds indicated that most of the compounds exhibited very strong Nt PPO inhibition activity. More than half of the synthesized compounds displayed over 80% control of all three tested broadleaf weeds at 37.5-150 g ai/ha by post-emergent application, majority of them showed no phytotoxicity toward at least one kind of crop at 150 g ai/ha. Promisingly, 17 i（Ki = 6.7 n M） showed 6 and 4 times more potent than flumioxazin（Ki = 46 nM）, and trifludimoxazin（Ki = 31 nM）, respectively. Moreover, 17 i displayed excellent and broad-spectrum herbicidal activity even as low as 37.5 g ai/ha, and safe for wheat at 150 g ai/ha by post-emergent application, indicating the great potential for 17 i development as a herbicide for weed control in wheat fields.

Synthesis and evaluation of some novel additives as antioxidants and corrosion inhibitors for petroleum fractions

benzoxazinone 2 was prepared and reacted with formamide,acetamide,some primary aromatic amines and heterocyclic amines giving the corresponding quinazolone derivatives 3-15 *** reaction of benzoxazinone 2 with hydrazine hydrate and phenyl hydrazine was also *** compounds of the synthesized products were evaluated as antioxidants and corrosion inhibitors for gasoline engine lubricating *** highest antioxidant activities were obtained with compounds *** optimum concentration recommended for these new additives was found to be *** for 1L ofoil for compounds *** addition,some of the highly effective antioxidant additives,namely 10-15,were thermally analyzed by using thermogravimetric analysis （TGA） and differential thermal gravimetric analysis （DTGA） techniques and the results indicated that compounds are thermally stable and could be used under thermal ***,a comparison of the oxidation stability between the tested oil containing the prepared products and lubricating oil containing commercial additives was also studied.
