Mountains are undergoing widespread changes caused by human activities and climate change.Given the importance of mountains,the protection and sustainable development of mountain ecosys-tems have been listed as the goals of the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.As one of the indicators,the Mountain Green Cover Index(MGCI)datasets can provide consis-tent and comparable status of green vegetation in mountainous areas,which can support the mapping of heterogeneous mountain ecosystem health and monitoring changes over time.The produc-tion of explicitly high-spatial-resolution MGCI datasets is therefore urgently needed to support the protection measures at subnational and multitemporal scales.In this paper,the MGCI datasets with 500-meter spatial resolutions,covering the economic corridors of the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI),were developed for 2010 to 2019 based on all available Landsat-8 data and the Google Earth Engine cloud computing platform.The validation of green vegeta-tion cover with the ground-truth samples indicated that the data-sets can achieve an overall accuracy of 94.06%,with well-detailed spatial and temporal variations.The archived datasets include the MGCI of each BRI economic corridor,matched to a geospatial layer denoting the economic corridor boundaries.The essential informa-tion of the datasets and their limitations,along with the production flow,were described in this paper.

With rapid globalization,industrial parks are playing an increasingly important role in the national and regional development.Since the Belt and Road Initiative(BRI)was put forward,national-level overseas industrial parks of China have emerged with new development features and trends.It is of great importance to carry out a comparative study on domestic and overseas industrial parks of China.Based on the perspective of spatiotemporal evolution,this paper compares and analyzes national-level overseas industrial parks along the Belt and Road(B&R)and domestic industrial parks of China.In time,China’s industrial parks have experienced four stages with distinctive state-led characteristic.There are different development paths and modes for overseas industrial parks along the B&R and domestic industrial parks.In space,the national-level overseas industrial parks are invested and constructed by Chinese enterprises(mostly from the coastal developed cities),and mainly distributed in the countries along the B&R.Through typical cases comparison of Thai-Chinese Rayong Industrial Zone and Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area,the paper finds that national-level overseas industrial parks are basically market-driven and concentrated in traditional advantageous industries,while domestic industrial parks are mainly government-led high-tech industries.Localization of overseas industrial parks and remote coupling with domestic industrial parks become very important.

Since the Belt and Road Initiative was put forward,the agricultural technology exchanges between China and Vietnam have become more and more frequent.With its unique geographical advantages,economic differences and technological complementarities,China is steadily advancing its agricultural technology transfer to Vietnam.This paper analyzes that the main driving force of Chinese agricultural technology transfer to Vietnam is the existence of technological potential difference.This paper puts forward corresponding countermeasures and suggestions from three aspects of government,agricultural enterprises and scientific research institutions.

Mitigating the disaster risk of transportation infrastructure networks along the Belt and Road is crucial to realizing the area’s high trade potential in the future.This study assessed the exposure and risk of existing and planned railway assets to river flooding and earthquakes.We found that about 9.3%of these railway assets are exposed to a one in 100 year flood event,and 22.3%are exposed to a one in 475 year earthquake event.The combined flood and earthquake risk of physical damage to railway assets,expressed by expected annual damage(EAD),is estimated at USD 1438(between 966 and 2026)million.Floods contribute the majority of the risk(96%).China has the highest EAD for both floods and earthquakes(between USD 240 and 525 million in total).Laos and Cambodia are the countries with the highest EAD per km from flooding(USD 66,125–112,154 and USD 31,954–56,844 per km,respectively),while Italy and Myanmar have the highest EAD per km from earthquakes(USD 1000–3057 and USD 893–3019 per km,respectively).For the newly built and planned projects along the Belt and Road,the EAD is estimated at USD 271(between 205 and 357)million.The China–Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor and China–Pakistan Economic Corridor have the highest absolute EAD and EAD per km,with EADs reaching USD 95 and USD 67 million,and USD 18 and USD 17 thousand per km,on average,respectively.For railway segments with high risks,we found that if the required adaptation cost within 20 years to realize a 10%increase of the railway quality is below 8.4%of the replacement cost,the benefits are positive.

Under the background of the Belt and Road initiative, the institutions of higher learning also face new opportunities andchallenges. This paper illustrates Nanjing University's practices and thoughts in the advancement of the B & R initiative, believingthat universities shall actively participate in the building of the Belt and Road initiative. As a member of the University Alliance ofBelt and Road, Nanjing University not only fully displays its own advantages, but also explores the development approaches whichare in accordance with the characteristics of Nanjing University. Those practices and thoughts will help to provide feasible develop-ment directions for Chinese universities in advancing the Belt and Road initiative.
