500-W high average power,high beam quality Nd:YAG solid-state laser with one focusing reflector

In order to explore a 56-J high energy, high frequency lamp-pumped pulsed Nd：YAG solid-state laser, the main factors influencing the higher laser output energy are analyzed, the relation between output power and input power and reflectivity is simulated theoretically, and the effective measures to improve the efficiencies of the laser are brought forward. As a result, pulse width is tunable between 0.1 and 10 ms, frequency between 1 and 1000 Hz. When the input electrical power is 12 kW, the laser can output maximum single pulse energy of 56 J and average power of 500 W with the beam quality of 16.5 ***, total electro-optic efficiency of 4.2%, and the in stability of ±2% output power. It is indicated that the parameters corresponds with the results of theoretical analysis and simulation.

With the development of laser technology,laser application technology increasingly plays a leading role in the field of industry. High power laser products and their safety requirements are attracting more attention. In laser industrial applications, laser beam quality and the system of laser beam propagation and focusing are greatly ignored. Furthermore, the basic safety standards for laser products have been neither widely publicized nor strictly enforced because of rapid development. This paper examines the underlying relationship between laser beam quality and laser manufacturing, and makes a comparison among different laser systems. It is also shown how the laser safety standards could be better understood and laser beam quality standard is advocated that directly relates to a mission requirement.

A high-energy 100-Hz optical parametric oscillator(OPO)based on a confocal unstable resonator with a Gaussian reflectivity mirror was demonstrated.A KTA-based OPO with a good beam quality was obtained when the magnification factor was 1.5,corresponding to the maximum signal(1.53μm)energy of 56 m J and idler(3.47μm)energy of 20 m J,*** beam quality factors(M^(2))were measured to be M^(2)_(x)=5.7,M^(2)_(y)=5.9 for signal and M^(2)_(x)=8.4,M^(2)_(y)=8.1 for idler *** experimental results indicated that the beam quality positively changed with the increase of magnification factors,accompanied by an acceptable loss of pulse energy.

beam quality improvements by a large margin for signal and idler beams of a high energy 100 Hz KTiOAsO_(4)(KTA)non-critical phase matching(NCPM)optical parametric oscillator(OPO)were demonstrated using an unstable resonator configuration instead of a plane-parallel ***,influences of cavity lengths and transmission of an output coupler on the OPO conversion efficiency for both were numerically *** OPO based on an unstable resonator with a Gaussian reflectivity mirror,the maximum pulse energies at the signal(1.53μm)and idler(3.47μm)were about 75 mJ and 26 mJ,*** corresponding beam quality factors of the signal were M_(x)^(2)=9.8 and M_(y)^(2)=9.9,and M_(x)^(2)=11.2 and M_(y)^(2)=11.5 for the *** a comparison,128 mJ of signal and 48 mJ of idler were obtained with the plane-parallel resonator,and the M~2 factors of the signal were M_(x)^(2)=39.8 and M_(y)^(2)=38.4,and M_(x)^(2)=32.1 and M_(y)^(2)=31.4 for the *** with a plane-parallel cavity,over eight times and three times brightness improvements were realized for the signal and idler light,respectively.
