Background:Junctional hemorrhage surpassed extremity hemorrhage as the leading cause of preventable death after the resurgence of limb tourniquets during the recent conflicts in Afghanistan and *** tourniquets(JTQs)were developed in response to this injury *** data for JTQ efficacy are limited and do not incorporate nonmedical,military first *** compared the time for effective placement and scores for device satisfaction between two different JTQs,stratified by combat lifesaver(CLS)and combat ***:We performed a prospective,randomized,crossover trial utilizing the SAM ’ Medical Junctional Tourniquet(SJT)and Junctional Emergency Treatment Tool(JETTTM).Investigators simple randomized CLS and combat medics to SJT or JETT for their first JTQ application on mannequins with penetrating inguinal ***,participants immediately placed the other JTQ on another casualty with the same *** primary outcome measured was time of successful applicatio *** was defined as proper JTQ placement and a pressu re reading of at least 180 *** compared outcomes between CLS and combat *** JTQ applications were excluded from the comparative ***:From June 2015 to August 2015,a total of 227 personnel(133 CLS and 94 combat medics)at Fort Hood,Texas,USA volunteered to participate in the ***-eight percent(38 of 133)of CLS and 40%(38 of 94)of combat medics placed both JTQs successfully,for a total of 152 applications(76 SJTs and 76 JETTs).We found a significant difference between applications of the JETT between the CLS and combat medics(92.0±37.7 s versus70.5±20.5 s,P=0.004).No other subg roup analyses,whether by device or user,demonstrated a sig nifica nt difference in application *** groups preferred the SJT over the *** disagreed with combat medics that the JETT could be easily applied by one person(median 3.0[2.0,4.0]versus median 4.0[3.0,5.0];P=0.006).Conclusions:Overall,succe

Recently,Internet of Things(IoT)technology has provided logistics services to many disciplines such as agriculture,industry,and ***,it has become one of the most important scientific research *** IoT to military domain has many challenges such as fault tolerance and *** this paper,IoT technology is applied on the military field to create an Internet of Military Things(IoMT)***,the architecture of the aforementioned IoMT system is *** architecture consists of four main layers:Communication,information,application,and decision *** layers provided a fault tolerant coverage communication system for IoMT ***,it implemented data reduction methods such as filtering,compression,abstraction,and data prioritization queuing system to guarantee QoS for the transmitted ***,it used decision support technology and IoMT application unification ***,to evaluate the IoMT system,an intensive simulation environment is constructed using the network simulation package,*** simulation results proved that the proposed IoMT system outperformed the traditional military system with regard to the performance metrics,packet loss,end-to-end delay,throughput,energy consumption ratio,and data reduction rate.

Dear Editor,Soldiers or people in battlefield settings are frequently injured with acute trauma, resulting in respiratory depression, hypoxia and associated morbidity and mortality. Traumatic brain injury(TBI) is with as much as 80%–90% of mild to moderate in combat casualties and contributed significantly to morbidity and mortality in battlefield settings. Correction of hypoxia at as capable as possible is expected to reduce or minimize the morbidity/mortality due to acute brain injury. An easy, quick and safe setup to promote oxygenation/ventilation of injured military personnel or peoples by non-medical personnel in battlefield settings immediately after acute injury before transfer to hospital is expected to reduce the morbidity/mortality due to injury mediated respiratory depression.

3D Based Distributed Interactive Simulation （3DDIS） for Simulation of Virtual battlefield Environment （VBE） is attracting more and more attention from both academic and industrial communities. With fast development of network technology, 3DDIS has shown unique advantages and broad applications comparing with the traditional simulation technology. A 3DDIS platform was proposed in this work for military simulation to simulate the warfare on the land. The whole system can generally be categorized into four subsystems such as: the scene construction of virtual battlefield, model-making, model-driven and database management. To demonstrate the performance of the provided platform, a constructed battlefield was used. From the simulation results, the whole simulation system can provide the user with accurate and actual field intelligence for great strategic decision in joint military exercise.

Background: Ballistic high-energy trauma has substantially increased the severity of non-fatal extremity injuries incurred in modern warfare. Expedient medical care, refinement in surgical techniques, and soft tissue coverage have brought about a paradigm shift in the management of lower extremity wounds during the last decade with an increased emphasis on limb ***: A literature-based study was conducted to analyze reconstructive modalities based on the location, depth, and severity of wounds, as well as mechanism of injury, concomitant vascular injuries and open fractures, choice of flap, timing of definitive reconstruction, and ***: Extremity injuries account for over 60% of injuries in the recent conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan, with the majority secondary to explosive devices. The severity of these injuries is profound compared with civilian registries, and conventional injury scoring systems have failed to accurately predict outcomes in combat trauma. The mainstay of treatment is serial debridement, negative pressure therapy, fracture stabilization, and treatment of concomitant injuries by the forward medical teams with subsequent definitive reconstruction after transport to an advanced military treatment facility. Autologous reconstruction with free tissue transfer and pedicled flaps remains the primary modality for soft tissue coverage in limb salvage. Adjunct innovative modalities, such as external tissue expansion, dermal substitutes, and regenerative matrices, have also been successfully utilized for limb ***: Lower extremity injuries account for the vast majority of injuries in modern warzones. Explosive devices represent the most common mechanism of injury, with blast impact leading to extensive soft tissue injuries necessitating complex reconstructive strategies.
