In economic literature,the benefit of competition is well recognized,for example,it could reduce monopoly rents and cost inefficiencies,and finally improve the welfare of the *** the case of banking system,the market competition in banking sector could improve efficiency of the banking system as a whole,and promote economic growth as a ***,the effect of competition on banking system’s efficiency hinges on some environmental factors,such as the efficiency of law *** this paper,we measure the level and evolution of bank system’s competition between 1996 and *** use of the micro data of Chinese commercial banks from 1996 to 2009,we choose the RP method to measure the competition level of China’s banking *** we study the relationship between market competition,law enforcement and Chinese banking system efficiency,which shows that higher market completion could lead to more efficient banking system,and this effect is more salient when law enforcement is more efficient.

We investigate the effect of portfolio diversification on banking systemic risk,where the network effect is *** analyze three kinds of interbank networks,namely,random networks,small-world networks and scale-free *** show that the effect of portfolio diversification on banking systemic risk depends on interbank network structures and shock ***,systemic risk increases first and then reduces with the increase of the level of portfolio diversification in the case of the individual ***,in the case of the systemic shock,systemic risk reduces with the increases of the level of portfolio ***,banking systems with scale-free network structures are the most stable,and those with small-world network structures are the most vulnerable.

The study is an empirical analysis of the impact of regulation and supervision on the activities of Ghanaian banks with emphasis on the role of the Bank Supervisory Department (BSD) of the Bank of Ghana. It evaluates the roles and contributions of BSD to the Ghanaian banking sector. Extensive field survey and library research was carried out and data collected were subjected to thorough analysis. The analysis shows that the supervisory and regulatory framework of the BSD is not sufficient to guarantee effective banking practices in Ghana.There is need to also increase the awareness of banking activities within the general populace through a deliberate integration process aimed at demystifying certain inherent perceptions of depositors and non-depositors alike to rather see banks as the safest place to keep their funds.The study focuses also on the consolidation agenda of the Bank of Ghana and the processes, prospect and the challenges of consolidation.A questionnaire and Skype based research was adopted for the study and the data collated was tested using the chi-square analysis and supported by fundamental evidence from the database of the regulatory authorities.

This paper studies banking efficiency from a Kuwaiti banking sector perspective. This will be accomplished by comparing and analysing the efficiency of Kuwaiti banking operations before and after the International Financial Crisis. Traditional and Islamic banks will be taken into consideration. The overall goal of this inquiry is to determine whether the efficiency of Kuwaiti banks has improved and why. Internal and external influences on Kuwaiti banking efficiency will be examined as well. Methods of work performed by bank managers and policy makers in Kuwait contributing to banking operations efficiency will be considered as well.

There have been investigated empirically the influence of macroeconomic and real estate market variables on the level of non-performing loans in the Baltic States. A secondary goal was to analyze the effect of constant loan portfolio growth on the level of non-performing loans in mentioned countries and to define the type of influence of the variables （i.e., long-term or short-term）. The research indicates that all variables except the growth rate of the real estate market （RRE） have long-term influence on the level of non-performing loans. RRE has short-term influence and variables influence is associated with the development of another variables. The influence of RRE played an important role, but it was not as crucial as it has been previously assumed. If a respective credit risk management is applied, the influence of RRE is to be eliminated. The research results indicate that the most significant reason for the growth of non-performing loans for the Baltic States presented by rapid growth of aggregated loan portfolio and unemployment rate. The increasing influence of rapid loan portfolio growth proves the assumption that banks＇ credit risk management policies underestimated the changes in the macroeconomic variables during the analyzed period. The changes in the real GDP had initial influence on the economic situation deterioration for Baltic States.
