Vessel fusion tracking with a dual-frequency high-frequency surface wave radar and calibrated by an automatic identification system

High-frequency surface wave radar（HFSWR） and automatic identification system（AIS） are the two most important sensors used for vessel *** HFSWR can be applied to tracking all vessels in a detection area,while the AIS is usually used to verify the information of cooperative *** of interference from sea clutter,employing single-frequency HFSWR for vessel tracking may obscure vessels located in the blind zones of Bragg *** changes in the detection frequencies constitutes an effective method for addressing this deficiency.A solution consisting of vessel fusion tracking is proposed using dual-frequency HFSWR data calibrated by the *** different systematic biases exist between HFSWR frequency measurements and AIS measurements,AIS information is used to estimate and correct the HFSWR systematic biases at each ***,AIS point measurements for cooperative vessels are associated with the HFSWR measurements using a JVC assignment *** the association results of the cooperative vessels,the systematic biases in the dualfrequency HFSWR data are estimated and ***,based on the corrected dual-frequency HFSWR data,the vessels are tracked using a dual-frequency fusion joint probabilistic data association（JPDA）-unscented Kalman filter（UKF） *** results using real-life detection data show that the proposed method is efficient at tracking vessels in real time and can improve the tracking capability and accuracy compared with tracking processes involving single-frequency data.

A fine-grained perspective on the robustness of global cargo ship transportation networks

The robustness of cargo ship transportation networks is essential to the stability of the world trade system. The current research mainly focuses on the coarse-grained, holistic cargo ship transportation network while ignoring the structural diversity of different sub-networks. In this paper, we evaluate the robustness of the global cargo ship transportation network based on the most recent automatic identification system（AIS） data available. First, we subdivide three typical cargo ship transportation networks（i.e., oil tanker, container ship and bulk carrier） from the original cargo ship transportation network. Then, we design statistical indices based on complex network theory and employ four attack strategies, including random attack and three intentional attacks（i.e., degree-based attack, betweenness-based attack and flux-based attack） to evaluate the robustness of the three typical cargo ship transportation networks. Finally, we compare the integrity of the remaining ports of the network when a small proportion of ports lose their function. The results show that 1） compared with the holistic cargo ship transportation network, the fine-grain-based cargo ship transportation networks can fully reflect the pattern and process of global cargo transportation; 2） different cargo ship networks behave heterogeneously in terms of their robustness, with the container network being the weakest and the bulk carrier network being the strongest; and 3） small-scale intentional attacks may have significant influence on the integrity of the container network but a minor impact on the bulk carrier and oil tanker transportation networks. 船舶自动识别系统（AIS）装船已经有多年了,尽管国际相关组织共同研究并确定了AIS的功能及性能标准,IMO和各国政府相继发文要求相关的船舶在指定的日期前强制安装该设备,并把是否安装该设备作为船舶安全检查的一个部分。但是到目前为止,不论是IMO,还是各国政府都没有制定"AIS设备安装、设置和使用规则"。希望拙文能给我国相关管理机关在制定规则时起到抛砖引玉的作用,希望中国首先来制定这一规则,继而呈报给IMO;同时也希望IMO进一步来完善该规则,能将这一来自中国的规则推荐给全世界,使AIS更好地发挥其应有的作用。
