This paper addresses the problem of direction-of-arrival （DOA） and polarization estima- tion with polarization sensitive arrays （PSA）, which has been a hot topic in the area of array signal processing during the past two or three decades. The sparse Bayesian learning （SBL） technique is introduced to exploit the sparsity of the incident signals in space to solve this problem and a new method is proposed by reconstructing the signals from the array outputs first and then exploit- ing the reconstructed signals to realize parameter estimation. Only 1-D searching and numerical calculations are contained in the proposed method, which makes the proposed method computa- tionally much efficient. Based on a linear array consisting of identically structured sensors, the proposed method can be used with slight modifications in PSA with different polarization structures. It also performs well in the presence of coherent signals or signals with different degrees of polarization. Simulation results are given to demonstrate the parameter estimation precision of the proposed method.

This paper introduces an algorithm for beamforming systems by the aid of multidimensional harmonic retrieval(MHR).This algorithm resolves problems,removes limitations of sampling and provides a more robust beamformer.A new sample space is created that can be used for estimating weights of a new beamforming called spatial-harmonics retrieval beamformer(SHRB).Simulation results show that SHRB has a better performance,accuracy,and applicability and more powerful eigenvalues than conventional beamformers.A simple mathematical proof is *** changing the number of harmonics,as a degree of freedom that is missing in conventional beamformers,SHRB can achieve more optimal outputs without increasing the number of spatial or temporal *** will demonstrate that SHRB offers an improvement of 4 dB in signal to noise ratio(SNR) in bit error rate(BER) of 10~(-4) over conventional *** the case of direction of arrival(DOA) estimation,SHRB can estimate the DOA of the desired signal with an SNR of-25 dB,when conventional methods cannot have acceptable response.

A polynomial-rooting based fourth-order cumulant algorithm is presented for direction-of-arrival（DOA） estimation of second-order fully noncircular source signals, using a uniform linear array（ULA）. This algorithm inherits all merits of its spectralsearching counterpart except for the applicability to arbitrary array geometry, while reducing considerably the computation *** results show that the proposed algorithm outperforms the previously developed closed-form second-order noncircular ESPRIT method, in terms of processing capacity and DOA estimation accuracy, especially in the presence of spatially colored noise.

To estimate the direction-of-arrival （DOA） of wideband coherent signals, a new method by modifying the orthogonality of the projected suhspaces method is proposed. And it can deal with randomly position perturbed arrays by using the Toeplitz method. This method needn＇t the primary information of DOA for focusing matrix and the sector dividing of interpolated method, which improving the precision of estimation and reducing the computational complexity. Simulations illustrate the effectiveness of this method.

To estimate the angle of arrivals （AOA） of wideband chirp sources, a new timo-frequency algorithm is proposed. In this method, virtual sensors are constructed based on the fact that the steering vectors of wideband chirp signals are linear and vary with time. And the randon Wignersville distribution （RWVD） of real sensors and virtual sensors are calculated to yield the new time-invariable steering vectors, furthermore, the noise and cross terms are suppressed. In addition, the multiple chirp signals are selected by their time-frequency points. The cost of computation is lower than the common AOA estimation methods of wideband sources due to nonrequirement of frequency focusing, interpolating and matrix decomposition, including subspace decomposition. Under the lower signal noise ratio （SNR） condition, the proposed method exhibits better precision than the method of frequency focusing （FF）. The proposed method can be further applied to nonuniform linear array （NLA） since it is not confined to the array geometry. Simulation results illustrate the efficacy of the proposed method.

Benefiting from the ultra-wide bandwidth, terahertz(THz) communication is considered one of the core technologies of the 6G mobile ***, high path loss is a severe issue for THz band,which needs to be solved by the ultra-massive multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) technology. For the sake of reducing the hardware cost and power comsumption, the hybrid beamforming technology is required, which has been adopted in the 5G communication. In the hybrid beamforming for the THz wideband system, the enormous antenna and ultra-wide bandwidth cause the spatialand frequency-wideband effect, resulting in acute beam squint. Eliminating beam squint is the key to the engineering realization of ultra massive MIMO for the THz band. To circumvent this issue, this paper presents a comprehensive overview of the hybrid beamforming technology including the channel model, the traditional phase shifter based and the true time delay based architectures,the 3D hybrid beamforming for the uniform planar ***, multiple significant open issues and potential challenges are pointed out and elaborated.

Advances in 6 G communication changes how machines and humans interact. The blossom of new applications demands significantly higher data bandwidth while preserving the mobility and sustainability of electronic wireless communication systems. It also demands an integrable system that allows convenient interactions between communication units and signal processing units.A review of CMOS-based THz communication system solutions is presented, with a focus on novel systematic EM-circuit co-design philosophy. This review starts with a review of THz power generation, followed by the discussion of THz localization and THz beamforming for efficient high-throughput communication.

Direction finding for two-dimensional incoherently distributed sources with Hadamard shift invariance in non-uniform orthogonal arrays

This paper proposes a novel algorithm for Two-Dimensional(2D) central Directionof-Arrival(DOA) estimation of incoherently distributed sources. In particular, an orthogonal array structure consisting of two Non-uniform Linear arrays(NLAs) is considered. Based on first-order Taylor series approximation, the Generalized array Manifold(GAM) model can first be established to separate the central DOAs from the original array manifold. Then, the Hadamard rotational invariance relationships inside the GAMs of two NLAs are identified. With the aid of such relationships, the central elevation and azimuth DOAs can be estimated through a search-free polynomial rooting method. Additionally, a simple parameter pairing of the estimated 2D angular parameters is also accomplished via the Hadamard rotational invariance relationship inside the GAM of the whole array. A secondary but important result is a derivation of closed-form expressions of the Cramer-Rao lower bound. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm can achieve a remarkably higher precision at less complexity increment compared with the existing low-complexity methods, which benefits from the larger array aperture of the NLAs. Moreover, it requires no priori information about the angular distributed function.
