BACKGROUND The incidence of colorectal cancer(CRC)is increasing among young individuals in the arab world as well as in other regions of the *** To explore the incidence and prevalence of CRC in the arab *** The PubMed,Scopus,Web of Science,EBSCO and Wiley databases were searched to retrieve relevant articles irrespective of the language or the publication *** search terms were("colon OR rectum OR sigmoid OR rectal OR colonic OR colorectal")AND("cancer OR malignancy OR malignant OR neoplasm")AND("Jordan"OR"United arab Emirates"OR"Bahrain"OR"Tunisia"OR"Algeria"OR"Djibouti"OR"Saudi arabia"OR"Sudan"OR"Syria"OR"Somalia"OR"Iraq"OR"Oman"OR"Palestine"OR"Qatar"OR"Comoros"OR"Kuwait"OR"Lebanon"OR"Libya"OR"Egypt"OR"Morocco"OR"Mauritania"OR"Yemen").Reviews,metaanalyses,and articles containing nonoriginal data were *** articles were screened,and relevant data were *** statistics were used for data *** Nine studies were *** of the studies provided information regarding the prevalence of *** prevalence of CRC was 0.72% in Saudi arabia and 0.78% in the United arab Emirate,while in Egypt,it ranged from 0.4% to 14%.Four studies showed information regarding the *** annual incidence rate of CRC in Qatar was 7.5/100000/*** Egypt,the crude incidence rate(CIR)in males was 3.1 for colon cancer and 1 for rectal cancer,while in females,it was 2.3 for colon cancer and 0.8 for rectal *** age-standardized rate for CRC incidence in 2003 was 36.90 for males,26.50 for females,and 30.49 for both sexes in Saudi *** 2016,the CIRs in Saudi arabia were 3.6 and 2.1 in females for colon cancer and rectal cancer,respectively,while in males,it was 3.3 and 2.8 for colon cancer and rectal cancer,*** study in Egypt revealed that 25% of CRC cases occurred among individuals younger than 40 years *** There is a considerable prevalence of CRC in some arab *** studies are n

Objective:Bladder cancer(BC)is a significant public health concern in the Middle East and North Africa,but the epidemiology and clinicopathology of the disease and contributors to high mortality in this region remain poorly *** aim of this systematic review was to investigate the epidemiological features of BC in the arab world and compare them to those in Western countries in order to improve the management of this ***:An extensive electronic search of the PubMed/PMC and Cochrane Library databases was conducted to identify all articles published until May 2022,following the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines.A total of 95 articles were included in the final analysis after title,abstract,and full-text screening,with additional data obtained from the GLOBOCAN and WHO 2020 databases.

Determinants of COVID-19 vaccine acceptance in the arab world:a crosssectional study

Background:The arab region is highly affected by the COVID-19 *** governments have already started to act against the ***,only a few countries provided COVID-19 *** with vaccination is a major topic affecting proper ***,we aim to explore vaccine acceptance among arab populations,and compare it with the global ***:An internet-based survey using social media platforms was conducted,targeting adults who were able to read and understand arabic,had access to the internet,and from all 22 arab league *** to the response rate variation between participants,the countries were grouped into four categories based on their income:Low income,Lower-middle income,Upper-middle income,and High-income *** about demographics,previous COVID-19 infection,and vaccine acceptance tendency were collected and analyzed using Chi-squared(χ^(2))test and Logistic ***:A total of 870 participants completed the survey.59.3%of the participants were male,53.3%were between 25 and 44 years,and 69.9%were arabs who live inside of their home *** COVID-19 vaccine acceptance rate was 62.4%.A significant higher tendency toward vaccination was identified in males(65.4%,P=0.04)and people living outside their home countries(67.9%,P=0.02).However,age group,level of education,and previous COVID-19 infection were all factors with insignificant *** of High-income countries were more likely to accept the vaccine(70.2%).Conclusions:Less than two-thirds of arabs are compliant with COVID-19 *** proportion is relatively lower than the global *** is important to develop strategies to promote vaccine acceptance and reach the ideal coverage needed to achieve efficient immunization.

China’s Emerging Role in the New arab world

The arab Spring has changed the political landscape in the arab *** spring which began as genuine grass-root movement designed to create more equitable social projects,was steered by Western powers and local Islamists in different directions with these powers heavily intervening to control and/or weaken arab *** has pursued a policy of non-intervention in the domestic affairs of arab states,and letting the peoples decide their own *** may have miscalculated when it allowed NATO to interfere in *** intervention had catastrophic consequences for China and ***,China,in collaboration with Russia decided not to repeat the same experience in Syria especially since foreign intervention in this case will be even more *** vetoed Security Council draft resolutions calling for regime change in Syria and insisted on letting the Syrians decide peacefully their future course of ***,China under the new leadership has suggested for the first time a four-point program to settle the arab-Israeli *** article argues that the Chinese-Russian approach to the Syrian crisis is bound to have long-term implications for the future of the arab *** the signs of the positive contributions of that approach are emerging,China should proceed to reinforce these contributions through a concerted approach to engage with the new regimes in the arab world,strengthen the China-arab States Cooperation Forum,correct the imbalances of Sino-arab trade,especially with the countries of the arab Spring,focus on investing in these countries in labor-intensive industries,putting the four-point proposal on the agenda of arabIsraeli negotiations,and,most importantly,deal with the question of the Israeli nuclear capabilities and the potential of Israel going to war against Iran,a scenario which will represent a major setback to the Chinese achievements in the region.

Background:To meet the future challenges of infectious diseases and limit the spread of multidrug resistant microorganisms,a better understanding of published studies in the field of infectious diseases is *** objective of this study was to analyze the quantity and quality of research activity in the field of infectious diseases in arab countries and compare it with that in non-arab ***:Documents published in arab countries within the research category of“infectious diseases”were extracted and analyzed using the Web of Science *** data analyzed represent research productivity during the time interval between 1900–***:worldwide,the total number of documents published in the field of infectious diseases up to 2012 was 227,188.A total of 2,408 documents in the field of infectious diseases were published in arab countries,which represents 1.06%of worldwide research *** output from arab countries in the field of infectious diseases was low for ***,approximately a five-fold increase was observed in the past *** countries ranked 56th to 218th on the standard competition ranking(SCR)in worldwide publications in the field of infectious ***,with a total publication of 464(19.27%)documents ranked first among arab countries,while Kuwait University was the most productive institution with a total of 158(6.56%)*** citation per document published in arab countries was 13.25 and the h-index was ***(230;9.55%),malaria(223;9.26%),and hepatitis(189;7.8%)were the top three infectious diseases studied as according to the retrieved ***:The present data reveals that some arab countries contribute significantly to the field of infectious ***,arab countries need to work harder to bridge the gap in this *** with non-arab countries in the Middle East,research output from arab countries was high,but more efforts are needed to enhance the quality o

Personal Reflections on Reading Discourse on the Middle East for New Intercultural Understandings

While creating a lasting peace process in the Middle East,particularly between Israel and the arab world,and more specifically with Palestine,has a history of more than 2000 years,this article outlines its history from Theodore Herzl’s famous 1896 statement about the“Jewish state”to the present *** article’s emphasis is on gaining new intercultural understandings through reading the discourse that developed over more than a century on the peace *** discourse,on one hand,is speaker/Author-message-channels-and audience-centered,persuasive,and *** the other hand,discourse analysis is descriptive and text oriented,established by setting frames for speaker/author involvement in the discourse,and is always contextual in its *** both of these formats of analysis,this article explores Michael Prosser’s personal readings on discourse from several different perspectives,the Israeli discourse,Palestinian discourse,arab discourse,and western discourse,tracing the history of this aspect of the Middle East peace process from Herzl’s statement to 2011,a historical period of one hundred and five years.A positive result of reading this discourse is a challenge to offer new intercultural understandings,or a“dialogue among civilizations.”
