5G technology is indispensable for developing comprehensive perception and ubiquitous interconnection of intelligent high-speed railways(HSRs),and can be applied to many scenarios in intelligent construction,intelligent equipment,intelligent operation and in other fields.In order to promote the standardized application of 5G technology in intelligent HSRs in a scientific and orderly manner and to avoid redundant construction and wasteful investment,it is imperative to carry out a systematical top-level design of the application scenarios at the initial stage.To this end,after investigating and analyzing the 5G application demands in different aspects of HSRs and the general structure of the railway 5G network,this paper formulates an overall planning of 5G technology application scenarios and proposes solutions to some typical application scenarios in the intelligent HSR system,based on the architecture and requirements of the intelligent HSR system.

Integrating variable renewable energy is one of the most effective ways to achieve a low-carbon energy system.The high penetration of variable renewable energy,such as wind power and photovoltaic,increases the challenge of balancing the power system.Energy storage technology is regarded as one of the key technologies for balancing the intermittency of variable renewable energy to achieve high penetration.This study reviews the energy storage technology that can accommodate the high penetration of variable renewable energy.The basic energy storage technologies that can accommodate time-scale variation are reviewed first.The role of energy storage in the generation,transmission,distribution,and consumption for the high variable renewable energy penetration system is then analyzed.The supporting energy storage policies in the United States,the United Kingdom and China are summarized.Specific suggestions are proposed from the perspectives of technology,business and policy.This paper provides guidelines for planning energy storage to enable a high variable renewable energy penetration power system.

Conventional analysis methods cannot fully meet the business needs of power grids.At present,several artificial intelligence (AI) projects in a single business field are competing with each other,and the interfaces between the systems lack unified specifications.Therefore,it is imperative to establish a comprehensive service platform.In this paper,an AI platform framework for power fields is proposed;it adopts the deep learning technology to support natural language processing and computer vision services.On one hand,it can provide an algorithm,a model,and service support for power-enterprise applications,and on the other hand,it can provide a large number of heterogeneous data processing,algorithm libraries,intelligent services,model managements,typical application scenarios,and other services for different levels of business personnel.The establishment of the platform framework could break data barrier,improve portability of technology,avoid the investment waste caused by repeated constructions,and lay the foundation for the construction of "platform + application + service" ecological chain.

Social network services can not only help people form relationships and make new friends and partners,but also assist in processing personal information,sharing knowledge,and managing social relationships.Social networks achieve valuable communication and collaboration,bring additional business opportunities,and have great social value.Research on social network problems is effective by using assumption,definition,analysis,modeling,and optimization strategies.In this paper,we survey the existing problems of game theory applied to social networks and classify their application scenarios into four categories:information diffusion,behavior analysis,community detection,and information security.Readers can clearly master knowledge application in every category.Finally,we discuss certain limitations of game theory on the basis of research in recent years and propose future directions of social network research.

Terahertz(THz)communications have been widely envisioned as a promising enabler to provide adequate bandwidth and achieve ultra-high data rates for sixth generation(6G)wireless networks.In order to mitigate blockage vulnerability caused by serious propagation attenuation and poor diffraction of THz waves,an intelligent reflecting surface(IRS),which manipulates the propagation of incident electromagnetic waves in a programmable manner by adjusting the phase shifts of passive reflecting elements,is proposed to create smart radio environments,improve spectrum efficiency and enhance coverage capability.Firstly,some prospective application scenarios driven by the IRS empowered THz communications are introduced,including wireless mobile communications,secure communications,unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)scenario,mobile edge computing(MEC)scenario and THz localization scenario.Then,we discuss the enabling technologies employed by the IRS empowered THz system,involving hardware design,channel estimation,capacity optimization,beam control,resource allocation and robustness design.Moreover,the arising challenges and open problems encountered in the future IRS empowered THz communications are also highlighted.Concretely,these emerging problems possibly originate from channel modeling,new material exploration,experimental IRS testbeds and intensive deployment.Ultimately,the combination of THz communications and IRS is capable of accelerating the development of 6G wireless networks.

With the acceleration of the urban industrialization process,air pollutant emission has increased sharply,which seriously endangers the ecological environment and human beings.Solar-driven photocatalysis has the broad-spectrum activity for various inorganic to organic pollutants at ambient temperature without harsh reaction conditions,which shows a very broad application prospect in air purification.However,the photocatalysis technology suffers from the unrevealed reaction me-chanism and the deactivation of photocatalysts,which severely limits its practical application.Currently,there is still a huge gap between basic research and industrial application in the field of photocatalytic air purification.This review summarizes recent progress on photocatalytic degradation of air pollutants and categorizes them based on the types of photocatalytic materials and air pollutants,with a focus on photocatalytic reaction mechanisms and the application scenarios of photocatalytic air purification to identify this gap.We also critically discussed the major challenges for promoting applications of photo-catalytic technology and put forward the development prospect.
