Two geochemical surveys were conducted in 1992 and 2000 respectively in the Yimeng Uplift of the Ordos Basin,*** earlier survey grid had 1×5 km spacing and the later survey grid had 0.5×0.5 km *** acid-extractable hydrocarbons of both surveys show similar geochemical ***,the anomalies obtained with traditional statistical methods do not correlate with existing oil/gas *** study reveals two problems in the data and their *** first one is interference caused by the variation of soil *** applied a wavelet-analysis-based method to eliminate this interference in the data of the later *** second is that micro-seepage anomalies did not identify existing oil/gas fields and seepage anomalies related with faults had not been previously *** modified the logic multiplication cluster analysis and applied a multi-fractal model and a back propagation artificial neural network to recognize these two types of anomalies that cannot be recognized with typical statistics in the study *** recognized seepage anomalies display a string-bead-shaped pattern and some are distributed along a large fault,in this *** fault is the main pathway for hydrocarbon *** micro-seepage anomalies are ring-shaped and are mostly distributed close to the *** coincide with oil/gas field and structure ***,reprocessing of existing geochemical data using these new methods can greatly improve their usefulness in hydrocarbon exploration.

Multidetector computed tomography of temporomandibular joint: A road less travelled

This article reviews the imaging anatomy of temporomandibular joint(TMJ), describes the technique of multi-detector computed tomography(MDCT) of the TMJ, and describes in detail various osseous pathologic afflictions affecting the joint. Traumatic injuries affecting the mandibular condyle are most common, followed by joint ankylosis as a sequel to arthritis. The congenital anomalies are less frequent, hemifacial microsomia being the most commonly encountered anomaly involving the TMJ. Neoplastic afflictions of TMJ are distinctly uncommon, osteochondroma being one of the most common lesions. MDCT enables comprehensive evaluation of osseous afflictions of TMJ, and is a valuable tool for surgical planning. Sagittal, coronal and 3D reformatted images well depict osseous TMJ lesions, and their relationship to adjacent structures.

Successful extracorporeal life support in sudden cardiac arrest due to coronary anomaly

Extracorporeal life support(ECLS) has recently been reported to have a survival benefit in patients with cardiac arrest. It is now used widely as a lifesaving modality. Here, we describe a case of sudden cardiac arrest(SCA) in a young athlete with an anomalous origin of the right coronary artery from the left coronary sinus. Resuscitation was successful using ECLS before curative bypass surgery. We highlight the efficacy of ECLS for a patient with SCA caused by a rare, unexpected aetiology. In conclusion, ECLS was a lifesaving modality for SCA due to an anomalous coronary artery in this young patient.

Percutaneous revascularization in a patient with anomalous origin of left main coronary artery

Anomalous origin of the coronary artery from opposite coronary sinus is infrequently observed during coronary angiography. Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) of anomalous coronary artery is technically difficult and challenging. It requires appropriate selection of guide catheters for adequate stability, coaxial alignment and backup support during the intervention. We hereby report a rare case of anomalous origin of left main coronary artery (LM) from the right coronary sinus, having a retro-aortic course to the left side before its bifurcation into left anterior descending (LAD) and circumflex artery. The 59-year-old man had successful PCI of atherosclerotic LAD lesions. A 64-slice Multi-Detector Computed Tomography (MDCT) performed at 4 years of follow-up demonstrated patency of coronary stents and also delineated the origin and course of the anomalous LM. The case illustrates the rarity of anomalous LM, and describes technical issues during PCI and the role of MDCT in coronary anomaly imaging.
