Hatcheries are frequently called upon to produce catchable-sized fish for stocking community fishing *** attributes of fish selected for stocking into community ponds are that they are easy to produce in a hatchery system to sizes anglers are interested in catching and they provide anglers with high catch rates once *** sunfish[male Bluegill(Lepomis macrochirus)×female Green Sunfish(***)]have attributes that potentially make them attractive for use in community fishing *** assessed initial angler catch rates of 100 stocked hybrid sunfish in a 0.12-ha hatchery pond and after being subjected to angling(four,1-hr catch-and-release fishing events with five anglers).We also investigated whether catch rates would change following a supplemental stocking of an additional 100 hybrid sunfish(four,1-hr catch-and-release fishing events with five anglers).The anal fin of each fish in the second stocking was hole punched to differentiate them from those of the first stocking and fish caught by anglers were hole punched in the caudal fin each time they were caught before being released back into the *** catch rates were highest during initial fishing events that followed stocking(9.2 fish/angler hr and 18.0 fish/angler hr)and substantially declined in subsequent events(≤3.4 fish/angler hr).Catches of the newly stocked fish and previously stocked fish contributed to the high catch following the supplemental ***(80%)of the fish were caught in the first 30 min of each event and 45%were caught during the first 10 *** were able to catch 88%of the fish from the first stocking and 67%from the second stocking at least *** mortality occurred during the study as all fish were recovered when the pond was *** results suggest that hybrid sunfish will potentially provide high initial catch rates following stocking into community ponds,but managers should expect reduced catch rates following initial fishing even without h

Small-Angle X-Ray Scattering Study on Nanostructures of Polyimide Films

Inorganic nanohybrid polyimide （PI） is widely applied in electrical and electronic devices for its outstanding insulating properties. Samples IOOCR and IOONH are made in Dupont. Among them, IOONH is a kind of pure PI films; however, IOOCR is a kind of inorganic nanohybrid PI films with excellent corona-resistance. The nanostructure of PI films is investigated with small-angle x-ray scattering technique and transmission electron microscopy （TEM）. The normalized volume fractions of the scatterers in the specimens are obtained with a tangent-by-tangent data analysis for the small-angle x-ray scattering data. The multi-hierarchical scatterers of IOONH can be divided into two dominant components, i.e., the sharp component and the wide component. The sharp component is corresponding to the contribution of PI molecular chains, and the wide component includes the aggregates formed by PI molecular chains and the film has nested dual-fractal characteristics, nevertheless the IOOCR film possesses three types of scale scattering made up of inorganic nanoparticles, molecular chains and aggregates. The present films have multi-fractal structures. The distribution and structure of scattering body of two kinds of PI films are analyzed. The results of SAXS agree well with those of TEM methods.

First-Principles Study of the γ Angle Deformation Path in the Wurtzite-to-Rocksalt Phase Transition in Aluminum Nitride

A new transition path （γ angle deformation path） is put forward and used to characterize the wurtzite-rocksalt transition in AlN. The enthalpy surface and the contour plot of enthalpy difference at equilibrium pressure are obtained by first-principles pseudopotential method within the generalized gradient approximation. The phase transition is needed to overcome two barriers and a metaphase arises between them. The total barrier height is 0.26eV. The pressure region of the phase transition is estimated to be 13.9-23.5 GPa, in which the experimental result is well located. Along the least barrier path, the changes of density of states and the fields of charge density difference are investigated. The similarities and differences between γ angle deformation path and the orthorhombic deformation path are analyzed.

Molecular-Dynamics Simulations of Droplets on a Solid Surface

By using a semi-empirical Lennard-Jones embedded-atom-method potential, we study the influence of many-body forces and atomic size mismatch on the wetting behavior of nano droplets on a solid surface. With molecular dynamics simulations, we find that the contact angle decreases with increasing many-body forces. The increase of atomic size mismatch between solid and liquid results in the decrease of contact angles. Our calculation also shows that the interface structure is strongly affected by the interaction between liquid and solid as well as the atomic size mismatch. For weak solid-liquid interaction, the interface layer of the droplet nearest to the solid exhibits a typical simple liquid structure regardless of the size mismatch. For strong solid-liquid interaction, evident ordering in the interface layer is observed for well matched cases.

Shot Noise in Aharonov-Casher Rings

We investigate the shot noise of electron transport through an Aharonov-Casher ring subject to the Rashba spin-orbit coupling （SOC）. Analytic expressions for the coefficients of reflection and transmission are derived by using the Griffith boundary conditions. For this kind of SOC, the ballistic transport of electrons can be analyzed as two independent spin channels, and both of them have the same transmission and reflection coefficients. The dependences of shot noise and Landauer-Biittiker conductance on controllable factors, including the strength of Rashba SOC, the asymmetrical angle of lead-connection positions, the radius of the rings, and the wave vector （or energy） of the incident Fermi electrons, are explicitly described by some new combined parameters. The ways that the shot noise and conductance vary with Rashba SOC and with asymmetrical angle are demonstrated by numerical simulations, respectively. It is revealed that the shot noise reaches its maximum for the particular situation of half transmission and half reflection and zero shot noise occurs at conductance maxima.

A Model for the Contact Angle of Liquid Droplets on Rough Surfaces

Up to now, measured results of the contact angle on rough surfaces have been explained usually based on the Wenzel equation （1936） and the Cassie-Baxter equation （1944）. However, these equations do not take into account considerations of liquid wetting behaviors on rough surfaces, and this leads to poor understanding of the mechanisms of contact between liquid droplets and rough surfaces （e.g. contact angle hysteresis）. We propose a new model for the contact angle of liquid droplets. By means of the present model, we can well understand the evperimental data which could not be well explained by the Wenzel equation and the Cassie-Baxter equation.

Transmission Properties of One-Dimensional Photonic Crystals Containing Anisotropic Metamaterials

The transmission properties of one-dimensional photonie crystals （1DPCs） containing anisotropic metamaterials are theoretically studied. It is shown that the 1DPCs can possess a similar zero average index （zero-n） gaps, the edges of zero-~ gap are weakly dependent on the incident angles, scale length and the polarization of the electromagnetic wave. When an impurity is introduced, a defect mode appears inside the zeron gap with a very weak dependence on incident angles and sealing. It is found that in such photonic crystals, a transmitted Gaussian pulse with its carrier frequency lying in the lower gap edge, in the defect mode and in the bandgap, can experience a positive or negative group delay and hence a subluminal, *** or superluminal propagation with small distortions. These properties of the photonic crystals have potential applications in the transfer of information.
