OsCEBiP,a chitin-binding protein,and OsCERK1,a receptor-like kinase,are plasma membrane(PM) proteins that form a receptor complex essential for fungal chitin-driven immune responses in *** is a receptor-like protein with no intracellular domain and binds chitin,whereas OsCERK1 is a receptor-like kinase and does not bind ***/OsCERK1 receptor complex transduces the chitin signal to downstream components for immune ***,we found osduf5 protein localized in rice apoplast,where it strongly interacted with OsCEBiP but weakly interacted with *** oligosaccharides can activate the immune response of *** them,we found that MPE(mannopentaose) exhibited the strongest ability to activate rice *** oxygen species(ROS) burst assays showed that both MPE and chitin could activate ROS burst,and it was significantly enhanced in osduf5 overexpressing *** contrast,the ROS burst was attenuated in osduf5 knockout *** addition,we found that osduf5 binds chitin and MPE in isothermal titration calorimetry(ITC) assays,which essentially enhances PTI *** further found that the homodimerization of OsCERKl-OsCERK1 and the heterodimerization of OsCERK1-OsCEBiP were induced by chitin and MPE,and the induction was further promoted by osduf5,which convergently improved the immunity in ***,although osduf5 overexpressing rice plants showed an enhanced blast disease resistance,they slightly increased the rice ***,osduf5 may be used as an elite gene for rice breeding in future.
