The crystallization with ultrasound intensification of aluminium trihydroxide from seeded sodium aluminate solution is investigated under various αk （the molecule ratio of Na2O/Al2O3）.The results indicate that ultrasound can enhance precipitation ratio of seeded sodium aluminate *** the increase of αk is not useful to improvement of the precipitation under *** example,when the αk is 1.45、 2.0 and 2.5,the precipitation ratio increase 2.5%、2.0% and 0.9%,respectively under *** mechanism of enhancement on precipitation of alumina hydrate is acoustic cavitations that enhance or alter reactions process of aluminate ions,Al（OH）*** mass percentage of ＜45μm of precipitation production with the initial αk at 2.0,which is biggest,is increased by 4.3 % under ultrasound.

Study on Enhancement in Gibbsite Precipitation of Bayer Process under 33 kHz Ultrasound

The enhancement of gibbsite precipitation in Bayer process by 33 kHz ultrasound has been studied. From orthome-thod experiment, the optimized operating parameters of treatment under 33 kHz ultrasonic cleaner have obtained. Compared with crystallization of AI(OH)3 without treatment of ultrasound, the precipitation time is reduced by 15 h when the precipitation ratio is 45%. From the results of grain size distribution and SEM photographs of gibbsite, it is found that secondary nucleation and agglomeration could be enhanced under 33 kHz ultrasound. The products are same from comparison of X-ray powder diffraction, but the Raman spectrum of sodium aluminate solution under 33 kHz ultrasound is different from that without ultrasound.
