Bemisia tabaci(Gennadius) biotype B,called a "superbug",is one of the most harmful biotypes of this species complex *** this report,the invasive mechanism and management of *** biotype B,based on our 5-year studies,are *** *** biotypes,B,Q,ZHJ1,ZHJ2,ZHJ3 and FJ1,have been identified in *** B dominates the other biotypes in many regions of the *** diversity in biotype B might be induced by host plant,geographical conditions,and/or insecticidal *** activities of CarE(carboxylesterase) and GSTs(glutathione-S-transferase) in biotype B reared on cucumber and squash were greater than on other host plants,which might have increased its resistance to *** higher activities of detoxification enzymes in biotype B might be induced by the secondary metabolites in host *** adaptive ability of biotype B adults to adverse conditions might be linked to the expression of heat shock protein *** indigenous *** biotypes were displaced by the biotype B within 225 *** asymmetric mating interactions and mutualism between biotype B and begomoviruses via its host plants speed up widespread invasion and displacement of other *** biotype B displaced Trialeurodes vaporariorum(Westwood) after 4-7 generations under glasshouse *** adaptive ability of the biotype B to adverse conditions and its rapid population increase might be the reasons of its successful displacement of *** ability of the biotype B to switch to different host plants may enrich its host plants,which might enable it to better compete with *** predatory natural enemies possess greater ability to suppress *** under field *** kairomones in the 3rd and 4th instars of biotype B may provide an important stimulus in host searching and location by its *** present results provide useful information in explaining the mechanisms of genetic diversity,e

Introduction:Urban flora is an important component of human-dominated ecosystems that links urban dwellers with *** study aims at compiling and analysing the alien and native vascular plant species of some selected habitats in the Srinagar city,Kashmir,***:Bi-seasonal sampling was employed and each habitat type(viz.,graveyards,grasslands,orchards and wastelands)was sampled at seven different ***:The number of species recorded from graveyards was 96;from grasslands 112;141 from orchards and 110 from *** level of invasion among habitats varied from 67.27%to 68.75%,with a mean value of 67.86%;out of clubbed species list,64.84%were ***,Poaceae,Brassicaceae and Fabaceae were the biggest families in all four habitat ***:Our research shows that across habitats,alien plant species are the predominant part of their floras.

The present study deals with comprehensive list of Invasive alien plants of Indian Himalayan Region with background information on family, habit and nativity. A total of 190 invasive alien species under 112 genera, belonging to 47 families have been recorded. Among these, the dicotyledons represent by 40 families, 95 genera and 170 species;monocotyledons represent by 7 families, 17 genera and 20 species. The analysis of invasive species reveals that 18 species have been introduced intentionally, while the remaining species established unintentionally through trade. In terms of nativity, amongst 13 geographic regions, the majority of invasive plants reported from American continent (73%). While in life form analysis, the herbs (148 species) are dominant, followed by shrubs (19 species), Grass (11 species), Trees (4 species), sedges and climber (3 species each). Most of the invasive species are annual habit (63%). Apart from these, 90 species (47%) are being used by locals for medicinal purposes. A better planning is needed for early detection to control and reporting of infestations of spread of new and naturalized weeds to be monitored.

A comprehensive survey and analysis of alien invasive plants at the scenic spot Chengbi Lake was conducted by combining route investigation with interviews and quadrat *** were 21 families,33 genera and 42 species in the scenic spot Chengbi *** them,herbal plants accounted for 69%.The Compositae and Amaranthaceae families were the most frequent,represented by 18 species in total;and 36 species of these alien invasive plants originated from America,accounting for 85.7% of the ***-seven percent of the species were introduced as ornamental *** of them were severely harmful,including Wedelia trilobata,Eupatorium odoratum,Lantana camara,Mirabilis jalapa,Solanum erianthum,Ipomoea cairica and Alternanthera *** to increase defensive awareness,reinforce ecological protection,regulate species introduction and improve supervision mechanisms are discussed.

The present study has explored the first authentic catalogue of the alien flora of the foot Himalayan hilly region along with their diversity, uses, various ecological aspects and invasion status. Environmentally similar south and tropical American aliens are higher in numbers in this region. A total of 216 plant species under 158 genera belonging to 58 families have been compiled in this catalogue. This alien flora occupies ~14.5% of the state flora, while 3.47% is invasive. Families having a large number of alien species are Asteraceae followed by Caesalpiniaceae and Solanaceae. Most of the alien species (61.57%) are of American origin followed by Asia (15.28%) and African continent (12.04%). Life form analysis shows that herbs (42.6%) are dominated alien. Among all the aliens, 67 species are used as ornamental plant, followed by 50 medicinally useful plants. In the state neutralized aliens are (36.57%) followed by invasive alien (24.07%). The present study also reports five alien species for the first time from the study site. This base line study would be the foundation for further advance studies on the invasion ecology and for the future assessment and management of invasive species in this biodiversity rich zone. Present work obviously helps in the agricultural sector of the state as well as the country and gives a clue for further introduction of new species in the country.

Variation of wheatgrass chromosomes in wheat-wheatgrass alien addition line "TAI-27"revealed by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)

The karyotype of the primary wheat wheatgrass alien addition line TAI 27 was 2 n =44 in which all of the chromosomes were metacentric and submetacentric. However, in the progeny of TAI 27 a pair of chromosomes had become small chromosomes in the two morphologically different plants. Fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH)technique was used to analyze the two different plants. The observations indicate that a pair of small chromosomes in one variation line are from wheatgrass. In another variation line, a pair of small chromosomes are also from wheatgrass, while another pair of wheatgrass chromosomes have substituted the wheat chromosomes. TAI 27 and its variant lines showed a high level of resistance to barley yellow dwarf virus (BYDV). The possible explanation for such a variation and the potential use of the variant lines were discussed briefly.

The procedure and method for the transfer of two sets of 14 pairs of wheatgrass (Agropyron interrnedium) chromosomes into common wheat to establish two sets of wheat-wheatgrass alien addition lines are reported. Meanwhile, observations and analyses have been made on the phenotypicaI characters of all the 14 alien addition lines established. It is determined that wheatgrass chromosomes in some of the established addition lines carry the rustresistant genes. In addition, questions concerning the location and distribution of certain agriculturally important genes of wheatgrass chromosomes have been discussed.
